Lone Women by Victor LaValle. Lord! That man wrote that book! He really did that! That was definitely a page turner and enthralling. Perish and Holla Child by Latoya Watkins was another 2024 favorite read of mine. I have Anne Petry’s The Street on audiobook and I have had the actual book on my bookshelf for several years. I will be reading it soon in 2025. Perfect Peace by Daniel Black was another wonderful read I enjoyed in 2024
My top read for the year was Razorblade Tears by S. A. Cosby. Other faves of the year were The Reformatory by Tananarive Due, The Queen of Sugar Hill by ReShonda Tate, Next of Kin by Kia Abdullah, Double Lives By Mary Monroe, The World Record of Racist Stories by Amber Ruffin, Single Black Female by Tracy Brown and Don’t Cry for Me by Daniel Black.
Razorblade Tears is a fave of mine too! I read it a couple of years ago. I must get my hands on The Reformatory! Sounds like you had a great reading year!
"African Town" is now on my TBR. Thanks for letting me know about it. It would be a great companion to "Barracoon" by Zora Neale Hurston. I'm going to watch your video a second time to make sure I didn't miss any gems. I love your channel
I am find it hard to pick a favorite. Right now, The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain and What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon are topping the list. Can't wait to see what 2025 brings for you!!
