So glad to see Like Water for Chocolate on your favorites list. I read it several years ago and loved it. I have not seen anyone talk about this book and it is so good. One of my top favorites this year is the Wedding People. Happy new year🎉
Yes I do, I loved it! It also has beautiful magical realism in it but it’s also different from Like Water for Chocolate. It’s a multi generational story about a family in Columbia, that also reflects the country’s development! Full of drama haha If you read it, I recommend writing down the names of characters in a family tree, so you can follow more easily! They often have the same or similar names
Also enjoyed Yellowface and have Nuclear War on library hold. Was passing on The Husbands before, but you've convinced me and I'll add it to the list! My favourite fiction read this year is Black Butterflies by Priscilla Morris and nonfiction bests are Crossings by Ben Goldfarb, Cobalt Red by Siddharth Kara, and Being Mortal by Atul Gawande! 🐱
to each his own but yellowface was a great disappointment for me. started fine, died in the middle, gets back on track and has the most out of left field terrible end. I never understood the hype.
Absolute favorite for me was Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I read on my Kindle but the audio book gets high praise for reasons I cannot divulge! 🤫😊 🐈
@@Nixreads Yeah, it I did. If the author took her back to beginning, I think would been okay to end it but the way it ended moved the story forward. Also, I'm glad her 🪴 made it 🙂
Although I don't like ya novels, I'm interested in challenger deep and gonna buy a copy for me InshaAllah. Thanks for the recommendation. Love from Egypt 🇪🇬❤️
I don’t know about a favorite. I just finished _Four Huts_ translated by Burton Watson and feel pretty good about it - but when I attempted it many years ago it absolutely didn’t work for me so I hesitate to recommend it. 😸
I read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd based upon your liking it. Before reading it, I had decided Poirot books were no longer for me after reading a couple that didn't really impress me. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd changed my mind. The solution was a real shocker. I also read my first Miss Marple book - The Murder at the Vicarage. I liked it a lot. I listened to the audiobook of Yellowface. It was a 5 star read. One of my top books of the year. I read We Have Always Lived In The Castle this month. Although not one of my top books this year, I did like it. My top book this year was Natural Beauty by Ling Ling Huang. I actually run towards YA novels. 🐈⬛
Hi Stuart, thank you for sharing ☺️ I‘ve only read one Miss Marple book so far and I liked it. For now I‘m more focused on Poirot though! I have to watch your favourites video to hear what you loved about Natural Beauty ☺️
Homegoing, an orchestra of minorities, and so I roar, James, the mountain sing, all that we were promised, the diplomat's daughter, River sing me home, The shadow of the wind and...a few more!😁😻
I read Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi and Homegoing is on my TBR, as well as The Trees by Percival Everett :) ah you see to love literary fiction by authors from all over the world these titles sound so good - which one is the must read? 😄 thank you for watching and commenting ❤️
@@binglamb2176 ohh my bf is reading Shogun currently! And we also watched the show, it was really good - have you? :) Thank you for watching and commenting ☺️
