WOW!!! Purchase, rebuild, and flip in a single 25 minute video. Loved it! I've been looking at old 4runners to build an Overlander out of but they are overpriced, a bit small, and I hate the flip up rear hatch. I'm starting to give the Montero a hard look. Montana Montero...Let's Goooooooo!
This is really crazy, exactly how I got mine. I got an 87 Raider with a 2.6 that also had the head gasket pop. The original owners bought a new head for it, new seals, new timing set, but never got around to putting it back together. They sold it to the previous owner, who thought he could fix it but had no idea about it and finally listed it where I got my hands on it. Half the engine in the trunk, probably how a lot of these sit now XDD
Man ...thanks for saving a Montero. That's pretty rad it's going to have a great second life. I may going the same route and rebuild the motor in the one I saved with a blown head gasket. I just hope it's not too bad inside the motor after sitting for 10 years
After having the 2006 now I work on my new project Montero long wagon 1988 nice to see you doing that and hope to learn a lot with you about this master classic piece. Thank you for sharing this with us 🙏
I HAVE THIS ONE IN 3 DOORS,FULLY STOCK CONDITION LIKE BRAND NEW, MY FATHER BOUGHT THIS IN DIESEL, SO WE ARE FIRST OWNER. TOTALLY DRIVEN 140K YET. FUSES ARE ALMOST COMPANY FITTED. EACH AND EVERY SINGLE THING IS WORKING GREAT. I AM DRIVING IT IN WEEKLY BASIS. I LOVE MY (PAJERO) IN MY COUNTRY CALLED PAJERO
I have a 2006 one. But My early childhood memory was riding the Gen1 when I was a kid. The classic solid look is awesome. I am glad that you were able to restore this gem.
Great video! I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your content. The videos have helped me out a lot as I rebuild my '98 Sport 3.0. Keep the great content coming
Brilliant. I just overhauled the top end of the engine in my '91, Took .015 off the heads, no problems at all. Great video. Thanks a mil. I need a drivers front fender for a '91 if you know where i can get one.
Impressive, well done dude! Makes me want to get around to working on my Gen1. Ps - not sure how big of a deal it is but the “to carb” nipple on the charcoal canister should have a vacuum cap on it.
hi bro could u make a video on the timing stuff, mine is cranking rn but wont kick on and i think its the timing, would love a guide if u still have this car
how much did/would you sell this for? i WISH i was as automotively capable as this, but i couldn’t rebuild an engine. my first car was a 1990 montero and i would love to get back in one
I am working on a 1990 Montero. First time to do anything like this. So far I have found most of what I needed on Rock Auto. Ive looked around locally at junkyards and Facebook Marketplace. Any other places I should know about to find some of these parts? Previous owner, 90 year old guy, thinks it needs a new ECM and Ive had zero luck finding that yet. I found some stuff on ebay where you send them the ECM and they supposedly fix it and return it for $140. Is that legit? I am not in a rush for the ECM yet anyway since I am trying to eliminate other stuff first.
Have you considered making your format more documentary and less hectic POV? The constant camera motion/whipping and the bouncing/pointing hand are distracting to your really good content. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing either way
i'm just a dude, holding my phone camera and working on my cars haha. personally i think it's more dynamic to "bring you along with me" rather than sit and talk to a camera on a stick. i've shot a few videos on a tripod and they come out super boring
