- Gen1 450X ripping! Good times on a great bike. Many MXers ask: Is it the bike or the rider? Well, my results are in from Saturday.
2.437 average lap on a 2024 Kawasaki KX450
2.445 average lap on the 2006 Honda CRF450X
Just under one second slower on a bike with an 18" rear wheel, kickstand, and carburetor. The 450X also gives up almost 20-years, more than a few pounds, and was first in this comparison to break-in lines and prep the track before the KX450 ever hit the dirt. Sometimes newer isn't always better, and I certainly felt right at home on this 18 year-old iconic machine! Consistency is key, and besides the first lap variance the ole' CRF450X could have taken down the brand new KX450...

Love it! I still have my 2007 CRF450R. I made it more trail friendly with a18inch rear and Rekluse.
I have a 2021 TE300 setup with a Rekluse also. I am actually faster and smoother on the 2007 Honda in Hare Scrambles and MX. 😀
I also just completed a Electric&Co conversion on a 2007 CRF450 chassis. I watched your videos of you riding your dads and it gave me inspiration. 👍

Is this an X model that you have setup more like an mx/ moto bike?
Or is it the R model with a headlight and e start setup?
Stock 2006 CRF450X with a slip-on muffler and opened up airbox. Suspension is GP setting from AHM Factory Services for SoCal SRA races and the occasional desert cruise; It works GOOD

Little farther South, closer to Perris way. Good SoCal dirt is hard to beat when we have it!
