I was told that on the small date the top circle on the 8 will be smaller than the bottom circle of the 8 and the large date both circles that make the 8 shape will be the same size. That this was the easiest way to eye it without the need to measure above, below, flush with the 9. Would love a 2nd opinion on this.
The small date, the 2 is much thinner and has a nice even curve before reaching bottom line. The large date is thicker and curves up at the end of the 2.
I think I have the small date I compared several different 1982 d and it has the curve at the bottom of the 2 also on the 8 it has very small o at top of 8 the weight is 2.5 grams

Looks like the edge of a coin with ridges or die went across the face and the reverse of it at an angle. Not long marks but noticeable. I found a 1982 i think it is the small date been comparing for 2 days now the 2 has a slight curve at the bottom compared to the large date also it is not as close to the rim of the large date the weight is 2.5 vs 3.1

That's a really cool 1982 penny! But for the penny without the date, I don't know if there is a way to verify when it was made. I actually have a penny planchet, and all I know is that it was made after 1982 since it weighs the same as a zinc penny with copper coating.
