I have watched your channel for the last year. This week, I bought a 30' Pearson and you were a gigantic influence in that purchase. Ty!!!! I'll see you out there!!!
I had a really good cackle when you said water makers were just a comfort item and you’re correct I just can’t imagine trying to do this without one. I take a fresh water shower daily and while I don’t use much maybe 2.5-3 gallons per shower that is only possible because I have a water maker. I do so admire you old school cruisers though with how far y’all can stretch 30-40 gallons.
Your content offers a fascinating glimpse into the liveaboard lifestyle, highlighting the unique challenges and rewards of living on the water. Each video showcases your resourcefulness and adaptability, as you navigate the Brisbane River to gather water, food, and boat parts. Your storytelling and practical insights create an engaging and inspiring narrative that captivates viewers and brings them along on your journey. And I am Floating Village Life
thanks for the views of your cruising life and adventures! I guess the "costs" of living your adventurous life are the never-ending little inconveniences, but what I love about the pair of you is your acceptance of that and your very cool way of setting about not just surviving it all, but enjoying life and the struggles as you go! It must be very satisfying to be so self sufficient and, apparently, happy.
Thank you both so much for your videos. They bring me joy and serenity watching them. I am a home distiller. One day I hope to present you with a bottle of my finest whisky to say thanks… feel free to reach out…
Thanks James and Rhonda for all the great vibes. I am a Mustang driver and not a sailor, but a Petrolhead like me has a fond affection for Diesel and Adventure, which makes it perfectly fitting to follow you around the world on this channel. 🤘🏻🚀😎
good after mid-day just made me realize what afternoon really means 😂 as I always struggles between (noon as midday or midnight ?) now I now what's afternoon means and noon too. thanks. i love your adventures, your vibe, the life on the boat. I plan to buy a boat too , and live in it. and im a French man. living in New Zealand . and will definitely go with my futur boat around Australia too. and crossing oceans would be amazing. thanks so much to show us this amazing lifestyle and encourage me, to pursue my dreams 😊
Love your no frills channel. You are great man! Major Respect to you for your journey! Well done! Your kiwi friend is good value too. I’ll keep following! Fair winds, following seas ❤
Hamilton, you may have said Beverly Hills. I hope you enjoy our little city. Brisbane City is not as big as Sydney but it is just as pretty. Make sure you get to South Bank and spend a day there. Hire a bike and enjoy.
The sexy shiny bin chicken is a Straw Ibis. The plain black and white ones that like eating garbage are Sacred Ibis (sacred in Egypt, Thoth has a sacred ibis head). The other Aussie Ibis is the Glossy Ibis, but it lives down in Tasmania only, it's chocolate brown with shiny iridescent wings. Like most things, they all taste like chicken.
It's work and discomfort. A lot of it. Which is unavoidable in life. The question is- where and how and toward what end do you want your life's work and discomfort to come? Not always- but in general- I find boat life and its associated labor to be gratifying. Connected. To the rhythm and whims of nature, sea, wind and tide. To what I need, consume- how little I truly need to be content. To work with my hands, often yielding palpable satisfying rewards and results. To my creativity, problem solving and resilience. When questioned by friends- my response has always been- it's simple, I'd rather haul jugs of water in the dinghy than trash cans to the curb- am happier sanding teak trim on the hook than mowing a lawn in suburbia. No right or wrong- we're all cut from different cloth. I feel more alive, myself worrying about things like how much rode I have out in a blow than meeting a tight deadline at a desk job. Most of all I relish the time and space to... be.
Always fun to get your videos and keep up with your travels. I shared your site with all of my contacts on FB and Instagram last week. Hope it helps you. Peace and safe travels PS I’m jealous that your in sweat shirts while I swelter in S Louisiana!
After following you across the Pacific James, it’s kinda funny to watch you getting around in my home city. 😂 Reach out if you need anything. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻
That’s my neck of the woods. I had my sailboat anchored at Hamilton reach for 9 months and she’s currently at Dockside marina. Cheers ! Hope you enjoyed Brisbane.
Some of these free services Australia offers might be why so many Australians sail completely around Australia ... and enjoy the beautiful places and services. That said, very few services are available at the most interesting part to me, the Kimberly's !
We have actually see very few international boats cruising in Australia likely because of how difficult it is to deal with the marinas here and because it’s a such a long distance to cruise to leave
From Brisbane and now live in Bristol, UK. If you get the chance, I would highly recommend Yamba/Angourie. Definitely my favourite place on Earth so far!
Hi m8t like all your vids cool as if you get the chance queens wharf is spectacular I believe and going over the story bridge at nite view of the hi rise buildings is cool ,there is other things swell it's a real super city... enjoy.
That’s laundromat is not the norm well at least not in Victoria. Machines can be automated but not that expensive! That’s a QLD thing I reckon. The tourist capital of our country.
Did you enjoy the under surface wave from the ferries ? I went up the the Botanic Gardens pontoons down river side early last year but got knocked around. Ended up at Northshore Riverside beyond the ferries.
Laundry self serve here is Rm4 for wash and Rm6 for dryer. (Wash is less than 1usd and usd1.50 for dry) I remember getting our laundry done in Europe, almost fainted. 15 Auzzie can pay for a year of laundry here 😅😅 Forgot to mention where here is - but I think you know.
Been a while since I have had time to watch some of your videos, and always am amazed at what you do! Your new girlfriend is cute and seems cool as hell!
At 7:03 mark . Am I right that the wind blows Tritea back to the berth, so it was needed to put a "bow to midship pontoon" springline, motor forward to starboard and then reverse? (I'm noob, so the question might be noob as well. Sorry for that)
Awesome video, thanks! I live in Morton bay, have watched your videos since the beginning and would love to sail away up the QLD coast soon. New farm is the trendy area where house prices have skyrocketed recently I’ve never explored there but it looks nice. How big is your water tank? Do you think it is big enough for your needs or would you change it if you built it again?
When I was anchoring around the Queensland I would go to caravan parks and ask if I could use their on-site coin-op washers and dryers... $8 max for both... ask at reception
To be fair, that is the nicest laundromat I have ever seen in my life most of the ones that I’ve been in are full of homeless people and machines that don’t work and a bunch of detergent that never went through from the previous load
😂 Lol i was wandering when the blatbonk of your deisel would need some moderation. I've seen a guy with a junk rigged ketch and metal hull he built himself .. onboard he had a US navy manual lifeboat desalinizer.. a bit like a giant grease gun . They are cheap and cheap to buy filters for as they are standard to all US Navy small boats as he said there are times when you do get caught out for fresh water..by winds and tides. He later added a large window wiper motor arm to mechanise it as he and his wife were getting bored of lugging water or manual pumping.😂 👍🏻🧙🏻♂️
When you arrive to each country yes you must clear customs, immigration and biosecurity and you must email a week or more before arriving with an estimated eta
Dang. Soooooooo, my Yanmar runs great! I was getting held over a barrel at a marina in Jersey for money. I'm sure you know how they do it. It was their responsibility to put it in the water. When I asked them to the owner told me "no! The previous owner owes money! It's $300 a month for dry storage!" I said great! That's cheaper than a slip! See ya later sucker! They dropped the boat and didn't tell me for a week then charged me 90 a day whatever nbd. I went to leave it wouldn't go into forward. The dick removed the cable. I figured out how to shift it in to forward and said "so long sucker!" Made it into the Bay and ran outta fuel lol! Lucky I got enough of a sail up and got it almost home. I'll be bleeding diesel tomorrow. This part of boat life really sucks lol! Got some great sunset pics tho.
hello good to see you happy and live your drem just need to ask what kind license l need to sail international ICC day skipper international license wil do ?
Crocs are only a concern further north and I plan to stay out of mangroves in croc waters. There are thousands of cruising in inflatable dinghies cruising Australia, so no I am not concerned but will be cautious
Hi James, and Rhonda, it’s a bit of a shame that you didn’t want to catch up. I would’ve loved to caught up with you guys but that’s okay up to you. Hope you enjoy Brisbane. I live in the next city down called Logan City. Enjoy your stay , Cliff
We had a meet up in Brisbane that we announced all over social media including here on UA-cam. There were people who drove all the way up from Sydney to say hi and see the boat, more than 20 people came. So I am not sure why you saying we didn’t want to meet up with people when we were there. 🤷🏼♂️

I can take you to a heck of a lot of places in Australia that would make you cry for the lack of services and for the poverty. Australia has very much become a land of the haves and have nots, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Agreed 👍
Cant help but notice but you two.... are far more vibrant when nowhere near a city... peace.

It’s certainly more challenging in many ways than land life but the pay offs are incredible
Ha ha at the end there I thought you had someone relaxing in your dingy until I realised it was you😅

Glad she didn't.
After following you across the Pacific James, it’s kinda funny to watch you getting around in my home city. 😂 Reach out if you need anything. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻

It's so loud there in Hamilton because of Kingsford Smith drive and the Gateway motorway running through there! Cheers guy's.

Livaboard.... I do a LOT of walking carrying a LOT of stuff.
Soundproofing is key!! Glad you found some! Also those laundromat owners gotta drive Bentleys 😂

You should look into those mini or portable washing machines. Certainly worth a gander.
No room to stow extra stuff when a bucket works in the wild 👍🏻
@@SailorJames Even better! Love it!
I myself never had a watermarked. When I went to Thailand on 2002 from istria, I had no watermaker as you said it's feudal not necessary.
I hope I'll find my Ronda! But for that I need a boat, and knowledge of sailing, and many other things hehehe
Cool video, that does seem expensive for laundry, I pay $4.50 Canadian per load, around a buck fifty for drying lol ✌️
It was absurdly expensive, up in Gladstone it was only $4 a load
From Brisbane and now live in Bristol, UK. If you get the chance, I would highly recommend Yamba/Angourie. Definitely my favourite place on Earth so far!
AIRPORT BUSY...SAFE TRAILS
That's almost double what we pay in the UK for laundry. I'd be washing in a bucket if I was there lol
Yeah it was absurd, up at Gladstone it was only $4 a load
Maybe take a look at an foldable waching machine they look smart and not so expencive but as you mentioned you still need water, just an idea.
Unnecessary
Welcome to Brisbane and her brown snake. Try go to Mt Cootha if you get a bit of shore time

Ibis in Australia are called Bin Chickens 😂 you will see them everywhere in Queensland. Enjoy your travels.
Yes I called them that on the video 😂
Redcliffe has cheep laundry , good Anchorage , public dock at Scarborough
That party boat is called Yot Club. Its supposed to resemble a yacht. It often heads the way you came all the way to the gold coast
It was wild

😂😂😂😂 I am looking forward to that exchange rate ! Hope y’all are good!
reminds me of Burkenhead point marina without the price tag
Thats crazy exspensive for a load of laundry Geez i check to see what the minimum wage was its 20 bucks a hr there in Austrialla
