Yes there must be a point where you go, is it worth it? This had done its job; the rust, bushings, etc. really tipped it over the edge. There has to be a point even if it is your own car and it gets to this condition, you have to just let it go and get what you can. Thanks for reminding us to not let our beloved cars to to this. Great stuff as always.
I really like the Mk3 Mondeo, as well as the Mk1 Focus. I should buy one of each before they all vanish. [ I remember when you could pick up a tidy Mk2 Escort for about £500 ! ]
Just catching up after a weekend away. Bargain price for a Cube. Service it, re gas the A/C its white so perfect for the BM decals! Great promo for the detailing business after Jordans magic and put it on the BM truck to promote Joshs business job done!
seeing a mk3 Mondie on an 03 being sent to the scrapper makes me uncomfortable about my current daily (Mk2 2005 focus) I know the time is coming, I'm just not ready for it 😭 I've owned, and loved my focus from 2009 and its took me everywhere. shes a pampered girl to say the least.
I ran a Mondeo of this generation right up to 369,000 miles before it was scrapped in late 2011 (EA04GYZ) however it didn't have anywhere near the crustiness of this one underneath despite a very intense life as a taxi. This must have been stored on damp grass or similar for a considerable length of time or maybe even underwater! 🤣😂
@chris jones I totally agree that the Petrol engines are week got a mk3 Mondeo 2.0l Petrol and only on 86,000 miles and had to replace coil pack and spark plugs due to misfires and the IAC unit failed causing the car to rev up when slowing down and idle rough Luckily I’ve also got a Mk1 Skoda Octavia vrs only has 200,000 miles on the odometer but is so much more reliable then the Ford
They do rust but... never this bad. The reason? Tow hitch....some jerks been dipping it in the sea to offload a boat/jetski. They do rust but never this bad honestly. It's been Seasalted so not the cars fault. Guarantee it
Nothing to do with the sea side, judging by the reg it's a north east of England car the roads are heavily salted stay clear of North east cars and Scottish cars
Next time why not scrap it using the online guys? Remove my car or car take back would have paid easily £300-320 for that. And they pick it up from you, no need to drag it down the scrap yard. Hope that helps 🤙🤙
@@ShiftingMetal If you punch the registration into one of those websites along with your postcode you'll be surprised. The car just has to be moderately complete, a few bits of missing trim is ok but needs to have engine, gearbox, catalytic converter, wheels etc The price you're getting there £160 per ton is what you should be getting by weight if you had removed the catalytic converter yourself or stripped part of the car and was taking the shell. But when it's not been stripped, it's worth more. The higher prices would simply take into account the catalytic converter, or a lot of them auction them off and fetch a premium that way. The companies I mention are a comparison site, it'll be any scrap merchant that picks it up but the price is the price. Redcorn salvage is another one, and Charles Trent but varies massively by area. Try all 4 for every car you scrap and I promise at least one will offer at least £100 more than you would get weighing it in at the scrap yard 🤙👍
@@ShiftingMetal Also if it's a newer car (10 years or less I think?) They will pay a premium if it runs and is in acceptable cosmetic condition, (£300-800 on your average scrap car less than 10 years old)
I liked the pipe band send off , very classy 😄
Quite moving I thought 😅

I got a ford mondeo M3 Ghia x and I love it still going strong 😊

I had a 52 plate zetec estate . Had it 18 years and drop links were always a concern on mot . Good car didn’t rust like this old girl
No reverse lights will be the reverse light switch mounted on top of the gear box easy enough to do just get a good quality part
Thanks, I’d struggle to fit it now though 😬
@@ShiftingMetal imagine bolting it to a fridge I’ve got reverse lights now 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I just seem to get lucky with rust 😅

Was it diesel one that run up to that miles
I'd be embarrassed to scrap it.
Sorry for your loss 😢😂
😢😅
My son did all brake lines by self. Not really hard job but no idea how that coast in work shop.We do all by self and now I drive a MK3 and no doubds.
Are we going to look for a project car in the future??
Looks like it spent a lot of time backing boats into the water on that towbar?
Even the titanic had less rust.. would love to see more s**t box turnarounds
😂 I’m on it 🫡
I wondered if it towed a boat back end is so much worse.

love your ramp can you send a link
I’ve pinched it off my Dad so I don’t know exactly but I know he got it from eBay. Can’t be too hard to find a matching picture somewhere, hopefully 👍
Did it live near the seaside ?

lol SCRAP OR SCRAP THAT IS THE QUESTION? i think scrap. lol.😁
Just watched
You forgot tyre disposal that you didn't have to oay for too
The scrapyard charges for tyres
Mk3 Mondeo bake pipes are well known for rotting but the MK4 doesn't suffer from the same issue
Guess they used a different material for the brake pipes? Copper not steel 🤷♂️
@@ShiftingMetal I think they put a better coating on them
Lights seats etc are all reusable

You reckon? Sounds like strong money, do they break them for parts or something?
