I have one of the best examples of these on the road. Late 63 plate, 2.2, txs, almost all optional extras bar the crap ones like tmps and its in mint condition. Had it 5 years and its been amazing. Especially love the 8 way power seats and the upgraded adaptive cruise control. Sunroof drains need cleaning out every year so they don't block up though, nothing drastic though lol

Welcome Brother. I have one of those for 3 years, too - but with now 255,000km - and every option known to men - except the sunroof (because railing) and deleted air suspension because of a H&R suspension. Born as a showcar, abused as a lender, sold to an employee - drove it around and maintained it like a god for 6 years. Last official service with service bill at 238,000km. Now that I owned it for 3 years, I'm still willing to do an official service - because it's spotless and officially maintained for every service to this time. Also, I could do the service my self for a fraction of the price and finally let the heritage die off...
EDIT: Yes, I did change the oil - 2 time before, every 10k km, just to be sure. I'm talking Mondeo Service Intervall, which gets you alerted in the dashboard.

Found my 2011 TXS with 1 owner and 54,000 miles. It is spotless inside and out and I'm absolutely in love with it. They also have heated windscreen washer jets!
As you've discovered, the biggest problem with them is getting the power down on wet days. Decent tyres are really important.

"or maybe"...like many high torque diesels, the torque is restricted in 1st (and potentially 2nd gear) to stop knob ends smashing the gearbox to bits.

    Just bought a 2010 Mondeo 2.0 TDCi (140hp) Estate.
Changed the entertainment system to a Chinese one that fits in the panel, but has navigation, bluetooth, Apple car play and stuff.
Also needed two new tyres (the existing ones weren't completely round :)).
But I have to say, coming from a Passat 1.8T Variant, the Mondeo has it all.
Not quite as fast as the Passat from stand still, but the Mondeo just pulls like a freight train. And what a nice driver's car it is! You just feel safe, and enjoy yourself, driving one of these Mondeos.
And when it comes to space, it's like a warehouse :)
Looking into chipping mine a bit, bringing it to just over 170 hp. That would be enough to make this a complete car for me and my needs.

We really get ripped off here in North America! (Ontario, Canada) There's so many really cool good looking cars we don't get here because station wagons (estates), don't sell in the US thanks to their lovely SUV addiction. That's why I chose a Volvo XC70 just to get that wagon look but also get the advantage of AWD for our Canadian winters.

Haha, it might be the wet roads holding it back. I have a Volvo C30 D5 with a remap, giving about 230BHP, it generally gets good traction from a standstill unless the roads are wet, definitely bothers Golf GTIs… it can torque steer a bit though!🤣
It really comes into its own when it’s already rolling though, mid range acceleration is great, if you’re doing 50 in 5th and plant your foot down, it pushes you back in your seat.

Went like a stabbed rat when floored, the 19" tyres were a good few quid for premium rubber and when only 1 or 2 up we found the ride to be very stiff.
For us it was almost to big of a car and make it a touch awkward to park.

I had a mondeo 2.0tdi 150 remapped not to successfully. The wheelspin was bad and going uphill I had to lift off the accelerator slightly to avoid the power overwhelming the clutch causing judder. I ended up taking back to original settings. I'm now on my 2nd a 2014 also a 2.0tdi and its just past 150 thousand miles. They really are great cars spacious and comfortable. But people nowadays prefer a "badge " their loss.
