Awesome player, and an important influence. Fantastic that he credits Colin Hodgekinson and Backdoor as being the first to really integrate chords into bass playing. This is something I've been saying for years. When Return To Forever did their first European Tour, Backdoor opened for them in England. After they came back, Stanley Clarke started his solo career. The rest is history.
Tony Figueroa I was playing bass chords in the early 80s. I was also doing a lot of triplets, the guys in my band frowned upon it. I was playing Eddie Van Halen licks on the bass before I ever heard of Eddie Van Halen. Those guys were jealous of everything! They played with Denny Laine for three years, until they stabbed him in the back out of jealousy! Those guys burned every bridge they ever crossed.
The Jonas Hellborg Warwick "signature bass really cost 10000 Euros ? ...I played on a 5 strings WAL that a motherfucker stole it from me after a show ....... I pray life to play someday on this briliant warwick ...
Hes one of those bass players I wish had picked up piano or guitar. The bad tone and simple chord structures are the result of almost hiding behind the instrument. Most of his work is really only relevant because of the limited instrument hes chosen. Just get a 6 string, man. Its a waste of talent.
Incredibly well said. Imagine that?! To still become relevant, solely from being so compatible with such a limited instrument? THAT is truly an incredible feat. Though, Jerry Howell and deep intelligent thought are so clearly incompatible. Maybe stick to the apartment walkthroughs.
@@DougieD_Funk He cant hear me, you dont have to get so angry that you make an ass of yourself. Says a lot about you to TRY and dig something up, says even more that youd publicy brag about it, and a third level of stupid comes into play when you think that Im somehow gonna feel bad about it as if thats not a massive self-own. Im okay. You? Yeesh.
Great, thanks!
Thank you, Jonas.

Jonas Hellborg literally wrote the book on playing chords on bass guitar. It's called "Chords Bassics". It's a must have.
