  • In this Uzbekistan travel vlog, I take you with me as I explore the beautiful Silk Road city in Central Asia of Khiva Uzbekistan. Khiva Uzbekistan is commonly referred to as an open air museum as the old city of Khiva, Uzbekistan is home to tons of beautiful, historic structures and monuments that have been well preserved over time.
To start off my Central Asia travel vlog in Khiva Uzbekistan I step back in time to Itchan Kala, the old city of Khiva. Khiva’s old city is where most of the main attractions are and is where you will want to spend the majority of your time when you are traveling the Silk Road city of Kvia, Uzbekistan. My first stop in the old city of Khiva, Uzbekistan was to the Kalta Minor Minaret, which is the most iconic structure in the entire city, and one of the most iconic in all of Central Asia, and along the old Silk Road. Although construction of the Kalta Minor Minaret was never completed, it still reaches 95 feet tall. Visiting the Kalta Minor Minaret is one of the best things to do in Central Asia for sure!
Next on my Uzbekistan Travel Vlog, I walked over to the Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasa, which was once the largest Madrasa in all of Central Asia, with the ability to house over 260 students. Now, the Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasa is inactive and has been turned into a hotel where tourists in Khiva Uzbekistan can get a feeling for what it was like to live in what was once the largest Madrasa in Central Asia.
The next stop on my Central Asia travel vlog, and a top thing to do in Uzbekistan tourism, was to visit the Juma Mosque. The Juma Mosque is one of the most unique mosques I have ever visited, as it is supported by 218 wooden pillars with intricately carved designs. Visiting the Juma Mosque is a really unique thing to do during your Silk Road travel. The next place I visited in Khiva Uzbekistan in my Uzbekistan Vlog was the Muhammad Rahim Khan Madrasa. What’s so special about the Muhammad Rahim Khan Madrasa is that it was one of the first Madrasas to teach subjects beyond Islam, like mathematics and science.
Next on my Khiva Uzbekistan Travel Vlog, was to try local Uzbekistan Food. I ate a special dish local to Khiva Uzbekistan called Shivit Oshi. Shivit Oshi, also known as green noodles, is a noodle dish infused with dill and other spices and herbs, turning the noodles green. Despite not being a huge fan of dill, I actually enjoyed eating Shivit Oshi. Eating Shivit Oshi is a must do in Khiva Uzbekistan. After a local Uzbek meal for lunch, I went to the Pahlavan Mahmud Mausoleum, which is the only structure in Khiva with a beautiful blue teal dome. Pahlavan Mahmud is renowned for freeing many slaves in Khiva during the Silk Road trade. His mausoleum is extremely beautiful with incredible designs and colors.
Next on my Central Asia Vlog and Khiva Uzbekistan Vlog, I visited the tallest Minaret in Khiva called the Islam Khoja Minaret. Admiring the size and colors of the Islam Khoja Minaret is a must do in Khiva Uzbekistan. After this, I visited the old fortress in Khiva, Uzbekistan, where the old ruler used to live, called the Kunya Ark. The top of the Kunya Ark is home to an incredible view over the entire city of Khiva. After roaming around the old fortress and the streets of Khiva’s old city, I climbed the old city wall of Khiva Uzbekistan, which stretches 10 kilometers around the old city. This is another great place for beautiful views over Khiva.
I hope you enjoyed following along my adventures in Khiva, Uzbekistan. I really do think that traveling Uzbekistan offers a unique look into a beautiful culture.

@@MattKramerTravels You are right. Simply marvellous and unique! I'm an English speaking guide in Khiva. Thank you for showing my town in all its glory. I'm pretty much sure that people like you will contribute to grow the tourism here and I hope it will be visited by more than ever before. And come back in autumn, when our natural fruits and vegetables are grown, which is clean without any chemistry.
