Beautiful results! So many watercolorists and wet media artists try to do loose, fluid, and impressionistic work but end up making a mess. But you know when and where to restrain yourself and the results are wonderful.

Also, have you experimented with any watercolor mediums? Like oxgall or watercolor medium aka gum arabic? Not that you need with how amazing your flowers turn out but I'm always curious to to possibilities and other artists thoughts. Thanks!

Hi Kris. How very thoughtful for you to offer such a well thought out demo. Your teaching skill is admirable. You probably know by now that Dr. Ph Martin, Hydrus watercolor is not ink. But perhaps your readers don't. It's concentrated liquid watercolor paint. Hydrus is made from pigment and has several lightfast hues. Inks are made with dyes. The Hydrus watercolors are Fine Artist Grade. The Radiant watercolor line is student grade and the Bombay line is ink. Ink fades because it is made with dye not pigment. Thank you for such a fine presentation and such a beautiful result.

I've tried the PH martins watercolors but I miss the pigment spots that you get when using watercolor from a tube. I love the way you paint with them though. It's just my personal preference.

Yellow and purple are complementary colors and when you mix them you get brown that's why you get muddy colors if you mix yellow with reds or oranges you get lighter colors but when you mix colors secondary colors with primary colors you get browns because it takes all the colors to make brown or black that's why you have problems with yellow

I think your painting is beautiful, but the title was a little misleading because you’re not really using watercolor paint. You’re using ink and acrylic ink. But the painting is beautiful.
The Hydrus line is liquid watercolor. She is referring to it as ink but it is not.
Actually it is ink. Used often by illustrators and designers.
I feel I'm not getting this effectvusing watercolor from a palette. Im advanced I feel but progressing. Do u feel its best to use another type of watercolor
I will do a tutorial on watercolor palettes to show the difference, but it's best to use tube watercolors for more fluidity.

Thank you! You can definitely do this with tube paint. With pan watercolors, I find that I have to manipulate it more to flow since it's not a liquid

It doesn't. This is 350 GSM in weight, so it's thick enough to hold water
