    My shop garage was in need of storage for a lot of the medium to large items that don't have anywhere else to go, as well as for a lot of the smaller items that I don't need to grab on a day to day basis. I made this piece using 5 sheets of 3/4" plywood, 1 sheet of 1/2" plywood, and 1 sheet of 1/4" plywood.

    Not only do you make great content, you also 1) explain things with your 3d drawings so that the audience will understand what's going on and 2) your mixture of humility, gratitude, and humor is pretty great. Thanks +Chris Salomone for making wood working content!

    Dude. Your editing and style are almost as much of the reason I'm subbed to your channel as your woodworking. I feel like you have really marked your identity in all of your videos without limiting yourself. Guys like you, and Matt Estlea have really gotten me into photography. I am so pumped to see you both growing into larger spaces to let your creativity and work get to another level. Seeing you work through constraints and design challenges pushes me to kick my own work into a higher gear every time. Thanks for being you. Looking forward to what 2019 brings!

    Another vid before the year end, awesome. I'm really loving the movement from the schematic to where the part belongs on the work piece. It really helps me visualize the cut sheet process a lot better. Great job Chris, the unit looks nice and clean and modern.

    Every time I watch your build videos, they always make me want to build whatever you are building even if I don't need them. You remind me of a Mythbusters episode where a flight instructor was able to guide Adam and Jamie to land an airplane just by giving them instructions over the the radio. You are such a great instructor that you can guide almost any woodworking novice to build whatever you are building. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. Have a safe and happy new year.

      I literally just started with SketchUp yesterday and, like most things in life, it definitely isn't easy to start with a blank canvas and no guidance. But, I would say it is very rewarding to make a small project. I would definitely suggest you give it a shot. You can download the 2017 app for free; it will have most of the features you need. Then, I would recommend finding a short tutorial on UA-cam and just follow along to get the basics under your belt.
      I have faith in you. Good luck!

    • @jasonbailey9139
      @jasonbailey9139 5 років тому

      I’d skip sketchup if you haven’t started or just started. They used to be free, but a few years ago that changed and it doesn’t really act like other CAD (computer aided drafting) programs out there.
      Also, if there is any chance you might go into CAM, computer aided manufacturing (i.e. CNC, 3D printing), you should go with a tool that will work with that. I personally use Fusion, but there are loads of others whose learning curves aren’t as steep. Haven’t looked at tinker cad, but I’ve heard it’s great for modeling electronics projects.

    I know nothing about woodworking, never had any plans to do any woodworking, never had any plans to watch any woodworking videos on UA-cam tbh, but then one of your videos popped up in my recommended somehow and I’m thanking UA-cam rn because your videos are so entertaining and really informative and easy to follow, even for an absolute novice like me, I love you channel :). You’re basically the bob ross of woodworking lmao your voice and the gentle guitar in the back make your videos very relaxing. I subscribed and now your videos are inspiring me to try doing some woodworking myself haha. Thanks for making such quality content! You deserve wayyy more subscribers than you have, I hope you make content for a long time. :) Your videos clearly have a ton of love, time, and care poured into them and I want to thank you for such good content! (P.S. I love your content but you do use a lot of really specific tools and use high level techniques. I know your videos seem to aimed at people with more woodworking experience but I was wondering if you could possibly make a simpler project with more common tools and easier techniques? Just as I said, I’m honestly interested in woodworking now, but I’m very low skill as I’m just starting out and would love a simpler project to start. [or if you or anyone else reading this comment has any suggestions for good places to start research on woodworking that’d be much appreciated too!])

    • @root1657
      @root1657 5 років тому

      This is why the rule is so important, nothing stays out on a horizontal surface past quitting time except a glue up. Everything else needs to be hung up or put away, and all those surfaces need to be swept. It's a pain sometimes to force yourself at the end of the day, but it pays off in the morning to walk into a clean shop without clutter in the way. (Also, if something doesn't have a place, it's a great excuse to do the extra shop improvement project to make the place to put it)

You guys crack me up, and I tend to learn things too. My question: I know you have a graphic designer background, but do you have any suggestions on where someone would go to learn the type of cg animations that you use in your videos? Preferably not go to college to learn it lol been there done that got a degree I don't use.

      Not to take away from the visual impact, but maybe 30-45 minutes. He already had models of all the furniture, since he built it. The building is just simple square shapes, maybe 10 minutes for that. Putting it together and doing the animation is another 10-20. Modern design software is amazingly powerful, but also easy to use. The real skill is his design, both the furniture and the film.

    • @Foureyes.Furniture
      @Foureyes.Furniture  5 років тому +1

      Gasfiltered is pretty close. Yeah, I'd say discount the model making time. I had that from before I moved in to help plan things out. Just animating is about 20 minutes and then another 15 to render.

    Another amazingly edited video. How much time do you spend on editing a video line this?

    Nice looking cabinet! How many times have your fingers been bitten with the centered through-hole pulls on the sliding doors? Yikes!

    Always enjoy your shop storage solutions Chris! Have you checked out @tsoproducts GRS-16 track square for cutting right angles using your tracksaw? I’m sure you have accurate success using your WP square, but perhaps a product you would like to check out! Anyway, take care and here’s to a successful 2019 for you!

      Thanks Robbie. Never saw it. Though I just got a new tool for the track saw. It's a game changer. But I'm not allowed to say anything just yet. Soon though :) :) :)

      Sweet! I look forward to seeing it. I kind of hope it’s not an insta-rail square! I only say that as they make a very similar product to the TSO one and I believe TSO has filed a court case against them! I’d hate to see the comments section blow up with people giving you a hard time! You’re the man though! Keep it up, huge inspiration.

    Good project and instructions👍 Question - will the colour on rhe drawers correlate to the tool on the wall (of the same colour panel)?
