As such, the only mods have been ; a permanent metal handle and a side mount for a clamp-on ipad holder. The legs are a bit hard to work but given the age, that's ok. I also had to re-glue some new rubber on the arms (used no-slip mats that are made for kitchen cabinets).
Hey there. I actually still have one, too. Can you be kind enough to tell how you've done a clamp on iPad holder? I really wish there was a way to put a shelf on the top for a laptop.
Great Review, Proper knowledge. Thanks for posting. I use the Ultimate myself, playing live gigs 4 nights a week I found the legs are the weakest point. Although they certainly take the weight, the button that drops the legs in particular is temperamental after a few years of use. However, the stand has never let me down and holds two heavy keyboards and a mic boom very well. The gig bag Ultimate sell is underwhelming and won't last you too much time if you're a working musician.
I have a Spider, and after a few years, the wing nuts are stripped. The weight of the keyboard keeps the arms in position fairly well, but it would be great to have them actually fixed. Also, some of the rubber has come off the arms, not a huge deal. Finally, don’t waste your money on the K&M “carrying case,” it’s a fabric bag, with a medium-duty zipper and thin webbing straps. It’s just a way for me to keep my mic stand with the stand. The Velcro interior straps went first, then ho,es rubbed through the fabric, and now, with a broken zipper I would be better off with a canvas wrap. Save your money and buy a second-hand golf bag or ski container. Finally, about the arms, their attachment has become unstable, so it takes a little finessing to make the arms line up to make the keyboards level. Don’t get me wrong I love the stand, I just wish I could get it refreshed. I don’t have the cash to buy a new stand every 5 or 6 years. I am a cheapskate.
It comes down to how much you value your gear. I use two boards live with a combined cost of over £4000 if I had to replace them. Spending £200-£300 on a keyboard stand is an no-brainer for me. I used a Ultimate AX stand for years but found the stand would easily rock forwards. There is a little slidey-wedge thing at the bottom of the stand you can position to help this but unless the stage I was playing on was flat, it always caused me problems.
I have two Spider Pros, and I am totally happy with them. You can get an extra pair of arms (either straight or angled) for the Spider Pro, and each of mine has three keyboards on it. That's a little tight, but totally usable, and the middle keyboard can be used standing or seated. Even through two of the keyboards on each are 88-key, heavy flagships, they are rock solid and totally stable. Th extendable arms are essential to make the 3-keyboard layout work, especially with big heavy keyboards. The construction quality is exceptional. I can't recommend these enough. They are the best stands that I know of.
Agreed! The spider pro is by far the best stand I’ve used! Haven’t used it in a three tier setup yet. Your rig sounds awesome! Thanks for watching bro. 💪
@@ChrisMutchJones that is the keyboard stand I went with for my Oberheim and Virus keyboards. I figure $500 is small insurance for expensive keyboard support and protection! Plus easy to take around town if I play live out.
Thanks Chris. This comprehensive review helped me select and order the Spider Pro after having an Apex since the early 90's. I needed the additional visibility of the screen on my MODX8 which is currently blocked by the top keyboard when using the Apex. Now, I am trying to decide whether or not to buy a Nord as my upper keyboard. Never had one.
Thank you Chris for this in-depth review. I wonder if that mic boom arm is able to reach the sitting player or the mic is rather aimed at the standing performer, I appreciate your kind answer on it.
The K&M looks like the best but I bought the Ultimate because it's about 1/2 the price of the K&M. Today's price for K&M was $500 USD out the door with tax and the Ultimate was $275. Thanks for the video review. I was thinking I might make a custom plywood pedalboard with weights underneath to put overtop of the base of the Ultimate to add stability.
Thank you for a great review and presentation! I used the Ultimate Apex for years without incident. Very reliable, and a cool look onstage. Always had a two keyboard rig. Very heavy and substantial 88key Alesis on the bottom, a Moog Source, DX7, or Prophet 600 on the top. Later on it was a Yamaha Motif 61 key, Alesis and Yamaha for quite a while. I'm primarily a guitarist that doubles as a keyboard player. More recently I started using a Roland Jupiter 50. I started using an X stand. I never liked the feet on the Apex, or other column type stands. As you mention, its the pedals. The X stand isn't much better for that either. The Roland though is so light ... I still am using this set up for band rehearsals. The Roland has all the sounds, (minus any useful tweak-ability). Passable, quality sounds. Banks of four, instantly available. The band I am in now though is VERY B3 and Piano Oriented. I felt the need to upgrade, and found the Yamaha YC73 my best option. 20 banks (live sets) of EIGHT instantly available sounds. A comprehensive drawbar organ/Leslie section, and two synth engines. Yamaha pianos, FM sounds, Motif and Montage sounds, all there. PLENTY of switches, knobs, etc, for live tweaking. Not to mention separate amp AND reverb sections, PLUS a master eq at the end of the chain. I opted for a stand from K&M: www.k-m.de/en/products/keyboard-stands/keyboard-tables/18820-table-style-keyboard-stand-omega-pro-black?c=171 . The 18820. It is a table type stand. Collapse-able. VERY sturdy!! Height goes low enough to sit, high enough to stand and best of all, pedals easily accessible. My guitar mini pedal train plus keyboard sustain/ expression pedals fit easily!! With the K&M 18817 universal holder and adapter 18814, I can attach my Peak iPad holder plus a K&M mic boom. Good to go!! If I had still a two keyboard live rig, I'd probably go with the Spider Pro. But for me, the K&M 18820 does the job! 😎
o/ im looking for a sturdy dual digi piano stand... i have a kawai es10 about 53" and 28lb i also have roland fp60 around same length but weighs 45lbs you think i can use this spider stand for these two? im worried about the rocking left and right. 50"+ 88keys likely have some overhang... do you think this stand is doable? i dont gig and just play home with friends and use kawai as my portable, so the roland will be fixed on whatever stand i end up with until i upgrade keyes... keep rockin and hope your holidays are rockin too.. thank you..
@@phat-n-sweatyslowasseddie9350 For a two keyboard setup, I used the Apex for years. Alesis 88key QS8 on the bottom. VERY heavy. Never a problem. I wouldn't hesitate on the Spider Pro. You'll appreciate the ease of set up, and the leg room and space for pedals ... Good luck!!
@tjsound1258 just ordered it new with shipping from ebay 440us quiet a bit more expensive these days it looks. Im sure ill be happy. Thanx for the fast response. I wanted to get this thing asap but wasnt sure it was sturdy enough.
Hi Chris. Great comparison vid. I know I’m late commenting, but I did see it when you originally posted it. I have a K&M Spider Pro and I love it. The column stands have their drawbacks, but portability and small footprint are a big plus. Do you know the make and name of the pedalboard tray/riser you put under the K&M?
My only issue with the Spider Pro and probably with the others, is that when using a mike boom, the thumping of the keys when playing comes through the microphone. I now use a shock mike holder. looks weird but does the job. JMO
I agree with you about the spider...I have a situation with sustain and expression pedals with the others. In fact I have the ULTIMATE and I don't like where the pedals are. But is not the same with SPIDER...I see more confortable.
Where did you get the platform base that you have on the second tier for the K&M? I'm about to buy one of these and that thing looks exactly like what I'd need to add a Maschine and an MPC above the keyboard.
I have the spider and the Apex. Spider is superior use some heavy keys. The Apex is good but does not have tilted top tier and glue on the pads on arms left loose pretty quickly getting kind of torn when inserting into the column for transport.
Can you put more synths on K&M SPIDER PRO? I would like to have 3 synths configuration. Are there options to buy and install 3rd support arm? Kind regards.
Hey! Yes you can fit a third tier, however it wouldn’t pack away easily. The design only allows two sets of arms to fold away neatly. However there clamps that you can buy that are easily removable which would make packing down easier as well!
I have the Ultimate support Apex stand and been using it for years. I have noticed lately it doesn't seem to be as stable as it used to be. Are they any way of servicing them??? Great video thanks
Great vid and I think if I ever need to replace my stand I will lok into getting the spider. The Column stand I've been using for the past year is the Millenium KS-3000 B, costs less than 100 and it's still going strong
@@ChrisMutchJones I switched to after I got fed up with x stands breaking and wanted something that took up less floor space, because as you probably know those venues like to try and put those synths in the smallest space on stage, I now front a band too so taking up minimal space front of stage is important
Spider pro and the rest! Especially for the dual tier configuration with the expandable arms which is the most important feature against keyboard overlapping...
Just a pointer about the K&M, the arms can lock in un even, making the keyboard unlevel. So you have to mess about with the adjustment and the arms so that they lock level. Also for weighty synths, like very High end 88 key stuff, ( kronos, etc) it will take it, but i think personally its on the very limit. I have a Kurzweil K2600XS sitting on the bottom tier fully extended out.
Yeah I did notice that sometimes the arms can be uneven if you're not careful! Still, I have to say, so far I've had my Nord stage 2 ex 88 on bottom and a midi controller on top and it's been fine but I haven't been able to any heavier synths yet!
Hi Chris Very informative video - thankyou. Could you tell me what the model number is for the iPad holder that attaches to the spider pro please? Does it attach to the column rather than the thread on top?
Very much appreciated......very informative and thorough.....I have the Apex Stand for about 20 years very good stand......but I think Iam ready to move to the "Spider Pro" because of your great video.....thx again.....well done😁👍
I do have one critic on your time it took to set up the ultimate stand. You took your time pulling out each individual Tribar and placing it on, but then when you showed later in the video how the tribars connect you grabbed two at a time. I have used an ultimate stand for 20 years and have never once pulled out one Tribar at a time. I pull out two at a time and then install them together. I think if you did that you might actually find that it takes less time to set up that stand. I am not trying to dis the other two stands. I would love to test out the K&M stand, because they make quality gear. I just wanted to point out that most people would set the Ultimate stand up faster because they would place two tribars on at the same time instead of one.
I have owned all of the stands in this video. But my absolute favorite isn't any of them. My favorite is the Ultimate Support AX-90 which was sadly discontinued by Ultimate Support. They're hard come by these days and I've seen them fetch prices of up to $1000 (One Thousand US dollars) on Ebay.
Very informative and helpful. I was about to say no fair, when I observed that you started assembling the spider stand slightly later than the other 2. But, even with that it still came in first so, really, it's just an extra bonus for that stand. Anyway, thanks for the info on these as I've been researching and it's hard to know without seeing them in action.
See my problem is that I can't use most keyboard stands while standing at a gig. I'm 6' 5" and while column stands can get tall enough for single tier, I can't use the double tier (which is a shame). Can you think of any recommendations for hardware for tall people standing?
My Ultimate Apex is about 15-20 years old, only the rubber strips on the arms have worn out, every other piece is still functioning 100%, genius design that’s incredibly well built, a rare commodity these days.
I found a really good deal on a new Spider Pro for just under $400, but decided on the Ultimate Apex with a mic boom and carrying bag. Supporting about $3000 worth of synths, my main concern is one of the synths is an MPE with vertical and horizontal expressive response, so I’m a little concerned about shaking the stand, but we’ll see when it arrives.
I’ve used both stands extensively and can say that they both wobble a fair amount but I’ve never had a situation where I was worried about my boards! Just make sure the arms are properly tightened up before you rest your boards on them!
I use the 90-angle-pedal-trick with the two low stands, and it works somewhat OK... If the pedal turns towards me, it will be a little too far back, so I am definitively going for the Spider Pro...
@@ChrisMutchJones I would highly recommend the K&M tabletops because there are cable routings cut through the tops, they just need to make a larger sized one.... !
Great job because even a total novice like myself understood clearly the pro's and cons of this piece of kit. Goodness, I can think of plenty more uses for these apart from keyboards and ancillary equipment.
@@ChrisMutchJones cooool man!! Especially the Stay Tower series, I'm very intrigued with their stability. I've read in some keyboard forums of how some Spider Pro users switched to this stand. They look promising, but I wonder if they could support the weight of an 88-keyboard (say a Yamaha Montage 8), much better than the Spider Pro in terms of bounciness. =)
@@Phantorion Wonder no more! they are work hoses man. On the piano tower models you can easily put a Montage 8 or Nord Stage, it supports 65kg per pair of arms.
@@EduardoBach01 thanks man that is so awesome! That's the only thing I'm looking out for, the 'wobble effect' when it comes to stands like these. Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of getting the white tower, it looks so hot. :8)
@@Phantorion In Brazil, where it's produced and from where I come from, everybody uses Stay stands. I have the Stay Piano model, it has some tinny little wobble, but it comes from the rubber feet, and side to side also minimal, it's just mass. The good thing about the piano model is that it's very gravity oriented, I assume if you put a heavier keyboard it will glue even more to the ground. My rig is all white, yeah, it's sexy!
I own the spider pro and I like it. One thing to be aware of however is that the microphone attachment at the top is plastic rather than metal. In other words, the threads are plastic. I don't use it myself. I don't know whether anyone who uses it finds that the threads get stripped.
That's interesting, I have a metal plate on the top that my mic boom arm attaches to! I wonder if they upgraded them? Glad you like yours and thanks for watching!!
You should definitely check out Stay stands. I got the Stay Piano model 74cm, but there's the same model 120cm height. It's the most sturdy stand I ever used. They also make some tower models like those in your video. Nice video mate ;)
Thanks fella, i am looking at the k&m stand as a replacment to my dual X stands, I have 3 keyboards that i want on a single stand, I will be sitting a heavy synth on there, K2600 88 key babe. The dual brace its stilling on is rocky and i think is on its very, very limit.
Well I think the k&m will be great for you! It can take three keyboards easy! It'll look amazing too! There's a link in the description of you want to buy it!
@@ChrisMutchJones I have toyed with the idea of one of these for years, and even going for a Triple Tier Double braise stand, But from what i have read, those do have a few issues regarding quality, how much you can lower the top tiers, and then some say that the top board needs padding etc.
I can't speak to knowing why the top board would need padding ... But the tiers can be moved anywhere on the column. I haven't seen any quality issues yet but who knows what will come up!
Ah I get you!! That's crazy that a double brace X stand would have that problem! I've used column stands for years now and although they wobble a bit, I've never been worried about them collapsing on me or not taking the weight! Good luck with it mate, would love to see your setup if you do go for the K&M! ✌️
Good video.I've just changed from a Adam Hall column Stand to Quiklok QLY 40 with a top tier. Rock solid and easy to move around for gigging. I have to say though I'd go for the spider pro out of these in your video
Has anyone point out that the price you mentioned for the K&M Spider was for a single tier.and not the double tier you tested? I have used the Apex for years and just switched to the Spider... Both are solid & reliable.
Hey Mike! I made this video a year ago now and when I price checked, it was for the double tier version! I guess prices vary a lot depending on where you’re based! 🤷🏻♂️ but I do agree with you, both are very solid and reliable!
You absolutely can sit and play with it, it's really comfortable actually! No, there's not a bag included but you can buy one seperatley. Thanks for watching!
Can't recomend the spider pro. Had one and one leg broke during a gig... Massive damage to the keyboard... Now I have a ultimate ax-48 for about 6 years. The thread on the mic stand went smooth, within the first year... Then the locking pins of one leg fell out the alignment, and now the leg don't stay in place when unmounted. In any case, it's still useable, and It's supporting a kurzweil pc3k7 for 6 years now...
That's really interesting! I'm enjoying the spider Pro so far and I haven't had any issues at all! Equally my ultimate support stand has served me well over the years!
I prefer the Spider Pro, but if I was only going to be sitting, I would get the baby version, because it’s not as tall so wouldn’t intrude on your eye sight as you sit down! Another one is look at is the stay keyboard stand (I have a video of this on my channel too!)
i had a mic issue with the apex pro stand and that was the mic ( attached to the top boom arm on the stand ) was picking up the sound of me playing the keys during a gig - any way to sort it out ??
The Roland ks-pro-k all the way. I was lucky enough to get one for the very short time they were available. Other keys players I ran into while I was on tour wanted one but they are a unicorn.
I have been using the Ultimate Apex for the last 15 years but I have my problems with it. This type of design isn't friendly to having a pedal in the middle as it gets in the way. The other thing I don't like about it is the CHEAP-ASS rubber grips glued on the arms which SHRED and leave shavings all over your floor after wear 'n tear. The structure is road-worthy but the GRIPS are not. I honestly don't recommend column stands in general. They are good for most players but if you've got expensive gear you don't want to ever drop, all it takes is someone knocking the end of your keyboard to tempt fate. I play two synthesizers (Dave Smith Prophet '08 and Dave Smith Oberheim OB-6) which are very similar in length and I don't believe these stands allow you to change the ANGLE of the stand such that you can adjust spacing on how your two keyboards are staggered. I need to be able to easily reach the keys on my lower synth. Can anyone recommend a rock-solid double table-stand where I can adjust the horizontal spacing?
Hello mate, thanks for watching! I’ve just released a video talking about a table stand from Konig & Meyer that you can have up to three tiers of keyboards on and you can adjust the heights of each layer! Check it out on my channel! There are two versions available, one which is electric and the other isn’t!!
@@ChrisMutchJones Thanks for the quick reply bud! Are you aware of any keyboard stands out there where the levels will slide out like a drawer? I need to be able to adjust the horizontal distance so I can reach all the controls on the lower rack. I'm an analog synth player so lots of tweaking with knobs and controls XD
The Apex AX-48 Pro does come with a case, and a telescoping boom stand. If you adjust the front floor support it is not as easy to tip over as you demonstrated. It probably isn't as stable as the Spider pro, but it's not the same weight or price either as you mentioned. Your setup demonstration was definitely flawed. you can't count the time it takes to take a stand out of the case! You finished setting up the Apex and then took two seconds to go around and admire your work! Lol. I can set up my apex up in under 30 seconds once it's out of the bag, and the height levels are locked in, which they are not with the Spider. That means a lot more time setting your stand to the right height. In the US the Spider pro's lowest price is $350.00, the Apex AX-48 Pro is $180. I would love to have the top tier with the tilt on the Spider, but I don't think it's worth an extra $170. That's almost twice the price!
Thanks for your comment! When I bought my Alex, you had to buy the case and boom arm seperatley, so I'm glad to see that's included now! I'd agree, in terms of setting up a proper keyboard rig, the apex probably is a bit quicker and the pricing is a difficult one as depending on where and when you buy, there can be massive differences in price! Thanks for giving me your comments though and I appreciate you watching!
Notice the body of the stand on this picture of Vince Clarke from an old magazine: erasurebible.wordpress.com/2016/02/22/vince-clarke-cover-contents-detail-article-usa/ This made me buy one. Idk, but there was a quasi mythical feel for me to play on that stand, like offering a sacrifice on the altar of the gods :D Funny what inspires us sometimes.
It really depends on your use case! The spider pro is more modular, allowing for more accessories to be attached and I think it’s more portable too! The stay tower is probably more robust and less ‘wobbly’, it also holds a heavier weight all in. Hope that helps!
Sorry about that! I’m 6ft exactly. So that’s around 180cm. But crucially the stand allows you to move the position of keyboard almost to any height possible so you could in theory set them all very low and have more than enough room for three tiers! Hope that helps!
How tall are you? I am evaluating getting a Stay stand for 2 keyboards but I am afraid the lower keyboard, at its highest possible position, will set way below my elbows when playing standing up (I am 1.90 mts tall).
Apex 48 now has a round back which rolls off the cart. If you place the stand on its side with any force, you can easily crack the top cap assembly holder for the legs inside the tube. I went through two in the last year. Called support customer service, then emailed them, no reply. Bought the top cap assembly from a third party. Legs became unstable after 9 months. The protruding handle is useless as the center either balance for the stand is where the keyboard world go. The old triangular design was better built and more logical. Sadly, K&M has jumped in price in the US. $800USD.
My Ultimate Support Stand needs a new snap button for the leg. Their website will not allow me to purchase online and their customer support will not respond to either emails or phone calls. I have tried a number of times over the last month to buy the $3.00 item and cannot get hold of anyone to respond. Terrible customer support. Just something to think about before getting this stand.
Sorry to hear this! I’ve never actually dealt with Ultimate supports customer team so I wouldn’t be able to comment. Perhaps there’s a third party company that has the part in stock somewhere?
@@ChrisMutchJones Maybe some. But I believe they increased the price by a lot a long time before covid happened. I don't remember exactly but probably a few years ago .

Hi! Could you please tell me where did you buy you pedals board? I love it! What model is it? Thanks!
I’ve had my Apex for 30+ years and still use it! It’s got battle scars but it’s still a BEAST!!
Now there’s a long term review!! Nice one!
I had an Apex and it took me way less than 45 seconds to set up! You definitely took your time!
Yeah, I was taking my time on all of them! Maybe antoehr time I'll do a speed test!! haha
Thanks for watching!
My only issue with the Spider Pro and probably with the others, is that when using a mike boom, the thumping of the keys when playing comes through the microphone. I now use a shock mike holder. looks weird but does the job. JMO
K&M is the best as far as I can see also! Gotta see it in person. NICE JOB WITH THE VIDEO!
Thanks a lot!
Hey! Its made by k&m, if you go to their website and search for 18877 lectern desk for the spider you'll find it!
Would love it if you subscribed!
Very helpful - many thanks
I’d love to see a review of the STAY keyboard stands.
I have one my channel!
@@ChrisMutchJones Thanks, I’ll have a look right now.
Thank you for the review. I was looking for a keyboard stand. I will be getting the Spider Pro
Nice one! There’s a link in the description if you want to buy it from there which will help out my channel!
I have the spider and the Apex. Spider is superior use some heavy keys. The Apex is good but does not have tilted top tier and glue on the pads on arms left loose pretty quickly getting kind of torn when inserting into the column for transport.
Hey David, glad you agree! It's an amazing stand and can be used in all sorts of scenarios! Hope you subscribe!
@@ChrisMutchJones I need one for home studio essentially, so i do not plan to travel with it. Thanks for let me know.
Excellent review pal, helped me make my mind up before purchasing the Spider Pro 😊
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
The Winner: Stay Music stands. I like their 2 tier "Slim" model personally which I bought. They offer other great stands too.
I have the Ultimate support Apex stand and been using it for years.
I have noticed lately it doesn't seem to be as stable as it used to be.
Are they any way of servicing them???
Great video thanks
Not that I’m aware of. Although you could contact ultimate support customer service and see what they say. Thanks for watching!
Great vid and I think if I ever need to replace my stand I will lok into getting the spider. The Column stand I've been using for the past year is the Millenium KS-3000 B, costs less than 100 and it's still going strong
Thanks for the comment! The millennium is a great stand too, would love to test it out sometime!
@@ChrisMutchJones I switched to after I got fed up with x stands breaking and wanted something that took up less floor space, because as you probably know those venues like to try and put those synths in the smallest space on stage, I now front a band too so taking up minimal space front of stage is important
Yeah mate, I can't remember the last time I used an X stand to play!
Spider pro and the rest! Especially for the dual tier configuration with the expandable arms which is the most important feature against keyboard overlapping...
Absolutely!! And the angle on the second tier is perfect in my opinion!
Hi Chris
Very informative video - thankyou.
Could you tell me what the model number is for the iPad holder that attaches to the spider pro please?
Does it attach to the column rather than the thread on top?
Same problem here !
Can you recommend which 2 tier stand to go for a a microkorg on level 2 and the rc505 loop station on the top tier please?
The Nowsonic one might be good for you, the arms can fit smaller instruments and it is a lot lighter as well!
Very much appreciated......very informative and thorough.....I have the Apex Stand for about 20 years very good stand......but I think Iam ready to move to the "Spider Pro" because of your great video.....thx again.....well done😁👍
That's awesome! Thanks for watching! There's a link in the description if you want to buy it!
Fair point! Thanks for watching!
Wowzers!! Thanks for watching and letting me know about that!
What about sit and play? Is it possible? Greetings from Germany 😊
Yes it is possible! I’ve done many gigs sat down with this keyboard stand!
It appears the K&M with 2 boards, it would be hard to see display on bottom keyboard?
Great review! Thanks for the information!
Great review kudos. What’s the iPad holder model for the spider pro btw
Definitely! Mine is still very much alive and kicking although I’ve been using the Spider Pro more recently because I love it!! Thanks for watching!
That's a great review thanks, swift and simple!!
Thanks dude!
Just make sure the arms are properly tightened up before you rest your boards on them!
can you please give me the reference for the floor sustain pedal support ?
Very helpful comparison. Thanks.
You’re welcome!
I use the 90-angle-pedal-trick with the two low stands, and it works somewhat OK... If the pedal turns towards me, it will be a little too far back, so I am definitively going for the Spider Pro...
Yeah, I used to do that too! Then would have to do a little foot dance occasionally to get it back in place! Haha
I have a bunch of desktop modules Velcro mounted to a FrameWorx Table-Top.... so I’m stuck with the X style keyboard stands....
Hey, if it worx… 😉
@@ChrisMutchJones I would highly recommend the K&M tabletops because there are cable routings cut through the tops, they just need to make a larger sized one.... !
Great job because even a total novice like myself understood clearly the pro's and cons of this piece of kit. Goodness, I can think of plenty more uses for these apart from keyboards and ancillary equipment.
what about the stay stand. I think they are great.
They look awesome! I’d love to get my hands on one of them sometime, maybe I could make a second version of the video!!
Does one have the ability to add a 3rd tier to the Spider Pro? Thank you!
Yes indeed! You need to buy the extra tier yourself but it fits nicely.
@@ChrisMutchJones Thank you very much for the response, much appreciated!
Great job, thank you for this informations,
I want to ask if I can increase the angel of the upper arm?
Hi Bashar,
Sadly it's not adjustable but you can remove the angled tier and replace it for one with straight arms instead if that helps?
@@ChrisMutchJones Hi Chris,
Thank you for your corporate,
I have a spider pro and I ask if I can increase the angle of the upper arm,
Nope, sorry!
Nice comparison.
Thanks! It’s cool to see that a video I did such a long time ago is still useful!
Nice video, did you happen to try the Stay Keyboard Stands?
Not yet, I'm hoping to get one for the next video! ;)
Thank you! I definitely plan to check out the stay stands at some point!!
@@ChrisMutchJones Ah, i don't mean the stand you are reviewing, its my double tier X stand that has this problem.
That's a nice sounding setup! I'd like to do a video on more tabletop style stands sometime!
Could I put my laptop on the tray for the spider pro?
Yeah definitely
Great review!
What is the model number of the K&M IPad holder? or are you using the universal peice and a 3rd party holder?
Has anyone point out that the price you mentioned for the K&M Spider was for a single tier.and not the double tier you tested? I have used the Apex for years and just switched to the Spider... Both are solid & reliable.
Hey Mike! I made this video a year ago now and when I price checked, it was for the double tier version! I guess prices vary a lot depending on where you’re based! 🤷🏻♂️ but I do agree with you, both are very solid and reliable!

Good job!
If you, like me, use pedals like sustain, wha, modulation and others, the spider is the only way to go.
Can you sit and play with the spider pro and apex pro? Does it come with a carry case or bag?

Which keyboard is best if you sit and play?? Great video!
I prefer the Spider Pro, but if I was only going to be sitting, I would get the baby version, because it’s not as tall so wouldn’t intrude on your eye sight as you sit down! Another one is look at is the stay keyboard stand (I have a video of this on my channel too!)
@@ChrisMutchJones I'll try and find it!

The Roland ks-pro-k all the way. I was lucky enough to get one for the very short time they were available. Other keys players I ran into while I was on tour wanted one but they are a unicorn.
I can’t find that at all online! I take it it’s a Z stand?
@@ChrisMutchJones www.roland.com/us/products/ks-pro-k/ Not a Z I even got the second tier for it as well. Love it so much, I want another but no luck.
Great review, thanks
Thanks man!
I miss my old apex. I wouldn’t get the new one with the round body, looks cheap and makes you wonder what the rest of the parts are like
That's interesting! I might have to look into how the new one was built in comparison! Thanks for watching!
Notice the body of the stand on this picture of Vince Clarke from an old magazine:
erasurebible.wordpress.com/2016/02/22/vince-clarke-cover-contents-detail-article-usa/
This made me buy one. Idk, but there was a quasi mythical feel for me to play on that stand, like offering a sacrifice on the altar of the gods :D Funny what inspires us sometimes.
Ha! I love it! It definitely looked more fantasy like back then! Sadly, I was too young! :(
Makes me wonder now.
Spider pro or Stay tower 1300/2?
It really depends on your use case! The spider pro is more modular, allowing for more accessories to be attached and I think it’s more portable too! The stay tower is probably more robust and less ‘wobbly’, it also holds a heavier weight all in. Hope that helps!
@@ChrisMutchJones Basically I need a stand that will not break after 1 use. Looks like both will do the job.
Thanks for help :)
How tall is Spider pro?
In cm.. After opening... From legs to top..
I’m out of the country just now so I can check that but I will on the 3rd (I have a gig then!) and let you know! Thanks for watching!
How tall are you?
You didn't reply... I am 161cm...will I able use 3 keyboard..
Sorry about that! I’m 6ft exactly. So that’s around 180cm. But crucially the stand allows you to move the position of keyboard almost to any height possible so you could in theory set them all very low and have more than enough room for three tiers! Hope that helps!
As soon as i watched the stabilization test, i knew it was the Spider Pro for me. Pay once a bit more and you are settled :-)
Agreed! Thanks for watching!

Hi, how are you ?
You can deliver to kenya ?
The links are Amazon affiliate links so if you buy it will deliver to any address in the world.
$800USD.
Sorry to hear that you’ve had such trouble!
I still like V-stands the best!!!

My Ultimate Support Stand needs a new snap button for the leg. Their website will not allow me to purchase online and their customer support will not respond to either emails or phone calls.
