That audio mix is intentional I think so that the doctor's voice is distant and needs focus to understand.

Money Game parts 1 and 2 next, really good too.
As a deaf man I interpreted the pumping beat as his illness bleeding over his world interactions, the metaphor was mind blowing for me. I Have had ear pain all my life and i completely related with the frustration he brilliantly shows. I was always being made to be calm despite the screaming pain in my head.

This song & video is so scary dead-on
"The narated vocals need to be mixed... " - I'm fairly certain that was intentional. He can't clear his mind because everything is so loud. He even states that he can't think well. Notice when he gets into the music, it gets clear.

Great reaction. I have watched Ren busking in Brighton (UK) for seven years. I already knew he was a genius but one of the great things about Ren blowing up the internet is that it is encouraging everyone else to explore and feel able to share their own mental health battles. When you see Ren asked if he understood what was being said, he says "I think so". The beginning of the video high bass is purposeful to make the listener be as confused as the patient is. Its all noise. Love your reactions

Ive been on antidepressants for 2.5 decades. They were *ok*. I recently (literally) diagnosed myself with ADHD. I pushed for treatment, and thankfully had people who listened. When I started my ADHD meds, everything changed. I was treating the wrong thing for years and years.
I had this exact experience and it’s sad to learn it’s a globally common story among adults with ADHD 😔

I would say I think the point of the doctors vocals being mixed behind the guitar and beat is too symbolise what hes going through at that moment, A doctor almost reading a script at him and hes thoughts and inner turmoil is playing over it.
This is filmed in the same place as Hi Ren, but the use of Fluorescent Lights & Subliminal messages over the place give that Clinical, Pharmacological, Pathological answer for everything with the same steps & medications passed out to all. As a fellow ND, I've been through the struggles & that path, but all it took was diagnosis, some reading & the advice Ren gave in Hi Ren, to be patient, to be kinder to yourself, understand triggers & traps to avoid or have a strategy ready... Do I f**k up? Yeah... Regularly, but less regularly each time.
Maybe one time with a bit of luck, patience & kindness we can all find healing & compassion.

Ah you are a metalhead 🤘, he didn't put out any metal songs I guess (he does so many styles), but there is a War Pigs cover he did with his band The Big Push, and some other classical rock song covers and some original songs are on that channel too, he also has a RATM style song he did solo.
But I definitely recommend you check out the tales trilogy (Jenny, Screech, Violet in that order, or he has 3 of them together in one video The Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full) ). Those 3 songs (and Hi Ren) are kind of metal in essence to me (maybe because they are so raw).

Ren's band The Big Push do a phenomenal cover of "The Guns of Brixton." It's not metal but they bring the song to another level in my opinion. It's one of my favorites.

Ren is one of those (quite irritating) people who could probably pick up a medieval instrument and learn it in half an hour. He's a jack of all trades when it comes to music (and specifically the performance aspect). Rap, rock, soul, folk wrapped up in a raw unfiltered honesty which comes from busking rather than a committee of record label goons. I see you're about to tackle Jenny, Screech and Violet next? Strap yourself in brother... 😉

I get what you're saying about the mixing at the start but I think it's intentional, being in that position with all of the noise of your own head plus trying to hold a conversation. Just my opinion.
