Nice breakdown, The Hunger, Genesis, and Losing it are mostly rap songs with some fantastic bars. Phenomenal singer, amazing lyricist, triple time flows, dude is way talented
Enjoyed your breakdown 👍 Ren is like a chocolate box, it all depends on what flavour you fancy next. Story telling Ren go for the jenny and screech trilogy (in the right order) soulful Ren the live version of "chalk outlines", hip hop Ren "the hunger" or the Fisher (retake). To be honest you could just throw a dart at his UA-cam page and you will hit a bullseye. Enjoy the journey, 👍
Sony is going to regret their decision. I truly hope Ren remains independent. He is a genius. And I have a feeling that any major label will try to change him. He is going to blow up... all on his own. Look what has happened just since Hi Ren has come out!
4:53 I've had that happen, they started me on sertraline, I stopped being able to sleep, my next appointment was 2 weeks away, I am not lying when I tell you, not only did I get every bad symptom you can get, I also only slept for 2 hours of that 2 weeks, by the time I got back to the doctors, I was soo exhausted by lack of sleep that apparently the doctor said I looked extremely high on something, he genuinely stopped mid-talk and ask if I am alright because I was just staring at the wall. He then gave me mirtazapine, which was the same story, but this time, instead of not sleeping for 2 weeks, It made me oversleep, 18+ hours of sleeping whenever I went to bed... 2 weeks later, I was taken off those too and it is just basically ruled that I am too sensitive to any anti depressants.
You're one of the few peeps that dig into it. I also enjoy seeing the singers, guitar players react and I say that as someone who went down the Dimash Kudaibergenov (technically , considered the greatest singer who's ever lived.) proverbial rabbit hole. Which includes annoying my family members who are professional opera singers, violinists, composers.
You have one of the best reaction sites. It's difficult listening to a reaction when they don't know anything about Ren. I appreciate that you've taken time to learn Ren's background -- and because of that, you catch what he's really talking about. If you don't mind a non-rap song, check out Ren's Chalk Outlines.
You could say the part about building up a tolerance might be a bar because of a lot of medications before they will work you have to build up a tolerance to them it takes time you start with with small dosage and build up to a higher dosage
I will be honest here, I grew up a bit after the Prince era, so I've only heard him on the radio and have never really dived into his work enough to be able to compare. Maybe one day I'll do a Price visit on my reaction channel honestly
The greedy slaughter pig also pushes Ren into position for "Hi Ren" Also, it's funny at the part right before the "drown " portion that you say you get hypnotized or lulled into not actually hearing his words...he's listing side effects. Much like they do on prescription commercials where the very last one is "death" but they've listed so many other things you get hypnotized and zone out or don't hear it. And when Ren sits back down the first thing out of the doctor's mouth is "does that all make sense?" when he physically an mentally didn't hear or couldn't truly understand anything she was saying
Another message bringer is "Crucify your Culture" Ren really goes off and tells it like he sees it. And he has clearly given it ALOT of thought. LOVE this aaamaaazing artist!
You sir ,through your reaction, have for me expanded my view of not only this track but the other Ren tracks you have commented on. You are without doubt the best reactionist of the art of rap in my opinion I have seen to date. Thank you for sharing that knowledge and with such clarity. Good luck with your channel. I have subscribed because as many I have gone down the Ren rabbit hole, which brought me here, but I 'd like to think I'll be back for other artists you cover.
This means alot to me, thank you Dean! For some of the other artists I react to, for the regular ones atleast (such as Harry Mack), I don't go as much in depth because my viewers have heard me talk about the same things over and over. With Ren on the other hand, since he is new to me, it offers me a chance to delve deeper and more in detail. Plus it helps that he has a lot of depth lyrically, musically, and visually.
@@xFayze Thanks for getting back. Yeah I hear what you're saying. I guess I've got to a place where something fresh in the arts seems rare. Maybe I've become stuck in my own frameworks. But this guy in particular has made me sit up and as I said you have helped me see things I was missing. I don't feel your reactions come from any other place then enthusiasm and realness. And that's refreshing.👍
Great reaction and clever analysis! You seemed to really get him after reading a bit about his background. Plus I love to watch people slowly discovering how multitalented he is. Hi Ren is definitely a great place to start, as you did, since he shows a little big of different skills in that track. And I know you have reacted to the trilogy as well (gonna watch next), so you will surely know from that as well what an amazing storyteller this modern day bard is. If you continue down the rabbit hole to the rest of us, I suggest The Hunger to see Ren really flex his rapping skills, and Chalk Outlines (live) with chinchilla to hear more of his singing ❤
What a great reaction you got you a new sub... loved you're lyrics breakdown/analysis you picked up a couple of things I missed even though i must have listed to it about 20 times... you're in for a ride with Ren if lyrics are your thing.. some of hi other stuff is mind blowing most have already been recommended to you in the comments... even his 1-minute "16 bar challenge" is a masterclass #GetWellSoonRen
Honestly man I pride myself on being able to understand deeper messages of songs but this particular Ren song didn’t fully connect with me until I heard your breakdowns throughout. Appreciate you bro🙌🏼💯
I really love that you took the time to comment this, or I would have never known. That is really my goal with this youtube channel. Seeing your comment makes me feel validated in some way
Ren has a startlingly accurate view of the world. And as beautiful way of translating it for the rest of us. What's not to love? If you're looking for his lighter side check out Children of the Moon...
If you want more in the rap vein...while still kinda gathering more info on him as a person, I'd do Genesis and Power next. There's some great bars in each, but they explore more of who he is, where he's coming from. Everyone has likely already suggested the trilogy in your previous reaction and it SHOULD be on your list (along with others) but Genesis and Power are a bit more personal and give you more info on the man himself.
I know I’m super late to the game with your videos, but if you haven’t already, Chalk Outlines is one of my favorites and Money Game Parts 1, 2, & 3 are amazing! Love your reactions. 🫶
Ren is very antiestablishment. pig face represents greed. if you songs with the same name but say part one then two the music is the same but can be listened independently. his retakes are just bad ass.

I also like the bar when he says 'Science tells us it's suicide but still we commit'.
BARS!

That sounds so brutal... Sorry you had to go through that
Insightful analysis. Thanks. I have heard this song probably 50 times and hadn't picked up on the patience/patients bit.
Thank you friend!

I've watched a lot of reactors reacting to Ren and I'd put yours in that top tier. Great stuff.
Thank you Jacob!
More Ren please!!
I got you!

Thanks! New subscriber somebody made a reference to prince. What do you think?

Thank you! Hope he gets well soon, he has so much more to contribute!
Yeah, would like you to react to chaulk outlines. It's his meditation on how the wrongly prescribed drugs made him feel dead
Great breakdown! Loving watching ALL Ren reactions 🔥❣️🔥 addicted to him and his old band The Big Push
Ren 🥰👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Keep up this strong analytical reaction. Great!
Thank you Cheryl

Glad it was helpful!

Ty for the suggestion tailored to me 🙏
Been watching you for awhile, now going back.
I think "The Hunger" is the track that shows off his rap/hip hop skills ... It's like a flow/bar chart, a full catalogue of rhyme schemes.
It's a masterpiece!!
Great reaction and breakdown 🖤
I know I’m super late to the game with your videos, but if you haven’t already, Chalk Outlines is one of my favorites and Money Game Parts 1, 2, & 3 are amazing!
Love your reactions. 🫶
Ren can do anything. He is amazing I don't think there is a style of music he couldn't perfect
Remember this we are all human beings we need help if we are in trouble so ask for help from family friends or a stranger it's not a shame to cry .
It’s an aphorism. A statement recognized as truth. That’s why it’s a bar.
Nice reaction, inciteful indeed ;)
