Dude I love this video! Haha! I went to mainland china 6 yrs ago and had similar experience! Not much star wars or any of my favorite vintage gi joe stuff, but tons of my interest modern transformers! It is a transformers (modern) fan's dream come true! Haha, obesity is an American epidemic, I didn't see any obese Chinese people! Any "fat" Chinese person I saw is a supermodel compared to their American counterparts! YES, I too saw beauties when in those super mega malls at any hobby collectible toy stores! My wife is Chinese!

Thanks Gerard. The problem was that the A-Team van was about twice the price of the cost in the US/UK.

This makes me sad. I guess I'll stay in America. Was hoping to retire in Thailand.
Wait, beautiful women toy collecting? Never mind my previous comment. I'm there. 😂😂

Great video, sir. And interesting, being an expat who has lived in China since 2005 and also travels to Thailand time and time again when I've had the chances over the years. Interestingly, in China, since the introduction of a 'used marketplace,' called Xianyu 闲鱼, about hmm, 8 years ago, I've managed to almost complete the original vintage Kenner first 77 figures - albeit it in various states of complete and quality, also scored four MOC vintage Kenner and some vehicles - even a boxed AT-ST along with a mixed variety of vintage MOTU and GI Joe, even a few MIB M.A.S.K. Hasbro and Kenner started manufacturing Joes and M.A.S.K. in China - Kenner hadn't started production of SW until much later, so it's understandable there aren't a lot of vintage Kenner around. POTF 1/2, EP1, is EVERWHERE online and cheap cheap. BUT the market is not buyer friendly and only exists online - NOTHING is in the wild as there simply isn't a walk-in wild for those types of toys in China. In fact, TOYS R US - which are everywhere, barely stock western brands outside of Lego, Barbie and a small assortment of Transformers anymore. I remember my first stab at toy hunting in Bangkok and had fun wandering around at Mega Plaza but didn't come aways with a single thing. Best of luck, and enjoyed this one!

Toys R Us still exists in Straya as an online retailer. Dunno if they'll ever go back to bricks n mortar here. But there's plans for a 'store within a store' set-up. They'd have their own space in a major department store like a lot of fashion brands. Last I heard the local arm was still reporting big annual losses so it might not happen any time soon...

Yeah, I don’t think they understand that for the most part, it’s adult collectors that are the ones buying toys these days.

Toys R Us has returned to the UK albeit in the form of a section of the WH Smith stores!

Toys r us is still alive in Canada, unfortunately they have new owners and have raised the prices so high on basically everything in the store it's not worth going. It's not even close to being what it used to be

May I recommend the Transformers Studio Series 86 as a fun and manageable subline to collect? It's modern, but it's the Transformers from the cartoon and the 86 movie and they actually look screen-accurate. Let's be honest here, a lot of the g1 Transformers look terrible in robot mode. Ironhide, Ratchet,...There's also the Takara exclusive missing link series where they add articulation to the g1 molds. So far they've done Optimus/Convoy, up next Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.

@@mdr8615 I have seen the 86 series, but as I only collect vintage, they’re not for me.
