It’s not about a stalker or being smothering, it’s actually the opposite of that, it’s about a guy who took his girlfriend for granted “didn’t mean to miss your birthday baby, wish I’d seen you blow those candles out” she left him and he’s trying to prove he won’t take her for granted again hence “I’ll be there for you”.

This is one of my two favorite Bon Jovi ballads. The other is "Never Say Goodbye". Gorgeous songs, both of them. Love the reaction - Lex especially was digging the vibes!
Such a great song by a great band. The key change near the end is one of the best in music. A little something for Brad that can cover a good portion of 80s ballads: these songs were written from the trials and tribulations of being a touring musician that is on the road for 90+% of the year with a significant other/loved ones at home “I didn’t mean to miss your birthday baby…”
Oh Brad don't you know destroying the whole universe for someone you love is the most romantic thing you can do, giving it all up for your loved one to be happy ❤️😁
Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were a great power-ballad writing duo. You should check out some of Richies solo work.... Stranger In This Town is a great album. It didn't go far I think... Sambora once said it was a great album just the wrong time. :)
I just discovered Stranger in This Town a few weeks ago and it has been on repeat especially One Light Burning. Such an amazing song with a great message.
It's actually a really good album. More Blues Rock oriented in style but incredible feel in the vocals and playing. "Father Time" is one of my favorites!
Well, you know people always say the 3 words that are supposed to tell you everything you need to hear to convey their feelings..."I love you" but really "These 5 words I swear to you. I'll be there for you." is much more significant than "I love you" which everyone says but often do not mean and instead of empty words or empty promises you are promising to physically and emotionally be there for someone when possible but emotionally be there for them when you physically can't be present. That's saying something with much more meaning than just "I love you"....in my opinion 💙
This greatest Bon Jovi song I ever heard!! Alex John Such Bon Jovi bassist born Yonkers, NY November 15, 1951 - June 5, 2022 died of natural causes in Horry Country, South Carolina. R.I.P. my fellow bassist.
I was in high school when this song first came out. I remember riding in my friend’s Pontiac Trans-Am with T-Tops while this was blasting on the radio. We drove past my boyfriend’s house where he and his friends were hanging around outside and I stood up (through the open t-top) and belted out the chorus of the song as we drove past. 😆 Ahh the 80’s. Great memories! lol
My best friend to this day, also had a TA with tee tops- I had a Camaro- Teens in the 80’s!! oh the things we did and got into back in the day- lol 😅 -they were GREAT too!!! 🔥
@@kimberlinibambini1988 Yes! My boyfriend had a 79 Metallic Blue Camaro. I have loved Camaros ever since. So much so…I just bought my own a couple months ago 😬 Midlife crisis? 🤷♀️ But the 80’s were a great time to grow up in my opinion.
This song is about someone pleading their case for second chance at love after a breakup. The partner is with somebody new but he is saying no matter where he is he will always be there for her if she needs him. Even if it just for support as a friend. Great reaction as always Brad and Lex!!
Bon JOvi I had such a crush and this song made me melt . loved it, we never saw creepy we only saw a deep love and tyring best to hold on to love, I read somewhere he wrote this for his wife because he was on the road so much and missed times with her and her birthday.
I went to see Bon Jovi back in 86. I was 25 and was the old man at the show. For some reason this song reminds me of The Air That I Breath by The Hollies.
Excellent reaction guys, it's showing the emotions of a guy who realises what he's lost and hopes to get the girl back. 👌 I also love ' Thank you for loving me ' it's s beautiful ballad
I saw Bon Jovi at the Houston Rodeo. It was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It was concidered the loudest show in Houston rodeo history at least that’s what the announcement was at the end of the show. Not just the band but the audience reached record decibels. One of my fondest rock memories.
All the released singles from this album (New Jersey) were top 10 on the charts. At this time Bon Jovi and Guns N' Roses were the 2 biggest hair metal bands.
I listen a lot of Bon Jovi, i had seen them live for three times and for me the best song from them is LAY YOUR HANDS ON ME. I am sure that Lex will enjoy the long instrumental intro very much.
"I know you know we've had some good times. Now, they have their own hiding place". That about sums it up. You can't go wrong with Bon Jovi. I also suggest Ritchie Sambora's version of "When a Blind Man Cries".
Me about this song: it's so romantic. It's beautiful. It's passionate. Others in my life: It's a little dramatic Me: shush it and let me enjoy the music 🤣
I'm watching all of your Bon Jovi reactions, because they are my 2nd favorite band behind the Beatles. Lex seems to love them! Brad too, but it didn't look like he cared for "You Give Love A Bad Name." Lex was into it the whole way through. LOL
This was a big hit in the summer of 1989. This album was awesome. There is a song on it called Blood On Blood about lifelong friendships that's definitely worth checking out. Stick To Your Guns is another. Some other great lesser known Bon Jovi songs are Shot Through The Heart (it's a different song than You Give Love A Bad Name), Roulette, Somethin' For The Pain, In These Arms, Hardest Part is the Night and Never Say Goodbye.
I love watching you guys review songs. It always seems that Brad is gently swaying like a river reed in the breeze regardless of the song or its genre; meanwhile, Lex, you always immediately show your emotions in your movement. I also like how some of the feedback you give to Brad most times seems to go over his head. Lex, I understand the whole pickle thing. Keepin’ it fresh and crispy. 😊😊😊

I hated that. In those years, the exposition on MTV was pretty exaggerated. Jon itself doesn't love that song very much.
It’s a good one but Jon’s solo hit “Blaze of Glory” is 🔥 🔥
