Great install . I am in NY and just worked DX Threw a hurricane of east coast made a few contacts even though high static. and was CH 38 SSB CB . The band has been poor . hurricane makes strange propagation. I did open 6 meters a bit. FT8 was fun on 6 meters. Now that radio will stay in place over our lovely smooth roads . 73
You're welcome! This was by far the best solution I had seen for mounting a radio on my dash. It's rock solid, and while drilling holes was involved, when I sell the truck, i'll pull all this out and just replace the rubber mat, and no one is the wiser.
@@FEPLabsRadio My install used existing holes on my 2012 RAM 1500 .. there were TONS of options for 2013 and UP but the hole pattern was off on those. It was a little more than i planned to spend.. but after getting it and seeing the quality.. it will be made up for in durability and function .. I can easily detach the tablet mount and push the bar to the side and stow the mount in the center console. Great Find .. thanks again
Right - I mounted the 400 originally on the lido stalk, then upgraded to the 500 in 2023 at Dayton. I'm leaning towards working both radio heads up there like that.
Looks great, I'm going to look into Bulletpoint for my Ford Flex. Just a suggestion, some corrugated flex tubing to cover your wiring and coax to protect from the sun. N8RMX
The original install looked like some Good Hillbilly ingenuity! I like it! 😂
The new install looks clean.👍
HA!! You are so right. Went out to the shop and just cut off some 2x4 and a piece of 1/4" paneling.

Nice clean install. Great job Jeem!
That’s a great bracket but they don’t support my old truck , thanks Jim!
Thank you for sharing your experience….it will help me decide my options for my new truck this fall
Glad I could help!
I have the same setup and have my phone,Anytone BT hand mic and my wife’s iPad.
You could use the ball to mount the FTM500 head up there too. They have a Yaesu compatible display adapter. It's under connectors and adapters

Right! What would be better is pulling the dash up and getting the wire underneath the dash entirely.
@@FEPLabsRadio very true
Jeem, Curious if you had noise issues into the radio with the ignition coils on your F-150 and what you did to overcome them.
No noise - I wired straight to the battery. The radio is hot all the time.
What you doing outside working Jeem?😂👍
It made me tired!
Why didn’t you just unplug the speaker?
I did - might have got cut in editing.
I thought you had an FTM-500?
I do - it's on a Lido stalk mounted to the seat bolts. At some point, I'll get the 500 head up there as well.
