  • The standing single arm underhand cable triceps extension primarily targets the long head of the triceps.

    I often incorporate this exercise as a warm up before targeting my triceps with heavier compound movements.
    Here’s how to do it properly:
    1. Stand facing a cable machine and grasp the d handle connected to a high pulley with one hand, using an underhand grip.
    2. Keep your other arm resting comfortably on your waist.
    3. Gently pull the handle down until your upper arm is snugly positioned at your side, with your elbow bent at approximately 90 degrees.
    4. Engage your triceps to extend your arm until it is fully straightened by your side.
    5. Throughout the movement, ensure that your upper arm remains firmly pressed against your body, allowing only your forearms to move.
    6. At the bottom of the range, focus on contracting your triceps hard.
    7. Under control, gradually return to the starting position and repeat the exercise for the desired number of repetitions on that arm.
    8. Switch arms and repeat.
