Im stuck at Paladin 1. Just finished sycamore tree solo on just normal, now i need to go to the temple, but on the way i always get jumped by the technics... And there is no dialog, they attack with 1 mage, 1 summoner, 1 archer, 2 warriors. Im dead in 2 rounds almost every time, never have beat them. No place else to go. Oh and the vivi skills are cool, but they all take a whole round to enable:(
Edit: Unfotunately having played through to the point of Ruined Watchtower, it doesn't look like you actually get a scroll of Blur. So still not sure where Mithrals is finding that scroll of Blur. Further Edit: Just looted Scroll of Blur from Kobold Dragon Shaman in the Dwarven Ruins! Greater Invis and Freedom of Movement can be gotten from scrolls from The Old Beldame. The gamepedia wiki says you can theoretically get a scroll of resist energy, but I can't determine where you're supposed to find it. You can get Heroism and Blur from scrolls dropped at the Ruined Watchtower (Blur from Kobold Boomsayer, Heroism from Bandit Transmuter). Stoneskin and Freedom of Movement scrolls can be found at Stag Lord's Fort. Having that in mind, I would take Resist Energy at Vivi 4 (find Blur at Ruined Watchtower (Kobold Boomsayer)) Barkskin at Vivi 5 (you'll find a Cat's Grace wand at Stag Lord's Fort that will let you delay taking that spell) Cat's Grace at Vivi 6 Protection from Energy at Vivi 7 (you'll have Heroism scroll from Ruined Watchtower (Bandit Transmuter)) Displacement at Vivi 8 Whatever you want at Vivi 9 Elemental Body at Vivi 10 (learn Stoneskin, Greater Invis, and Freedom of Movement from scrolls. Get Stoneskin scroll at Stag Lord's Fort (Nugrah's Chest), Greater Invis , Freedom of Movement from The Old Beldame) Restoration at Vivi 11 See Invisibility at Vivi 12 Spell Resistance at Vivi 13 11 and 12 are my opinion since they are "bonus spells" since you'll have found the other spells Mithrals recommends already. You can get Haste from a scroll (they are all over the place, The Old Beldame or Bartholomew probably being the first ones available) and I can't think of anything better, though I welcome opinions.
Hey thanks for this build! I tried it out in my second playthrough and it was an absolute blast after the initial toughness. Not sure if you're still playing, but wanted to thank you regardless. Wanted to ask you - how did you deal with Mandragora Swarms? Not sure if they had patched it, but Elemental body didn't stop the STR draining effect... for the particularly I had to kite with ranged weaponry to wittle them down (literally running in circles at the House at the Edge of Time).
Very nice build. Are Frightening and Brutal Beating from Thug important? You use daggers and you have a lot of sneak attack die so you could go Knife Master instead to change your sneak attack damage from d6 -> d8. Also don't you need 16 INT to cast all Alchemist spells? Do you wear items to boost your INT? Get your mobility skill to rank 3, it gives + 1 AC extra if you fight defensively. I think I would also prefer to get less CON (14?) and get a little bit more WIS for extra will save, there are a lot of nasty spells vs Will
Thanks for the mobility tip. Sure, go knife master if you will, but I prefer the debuffing abilities from Thug since shatter defenses is such a crucial part of the build, knife master is surely a valid option and you can make shatter defenses work wo thug. I also value con over wis (I think con is super underrated). While I agree there are many nasty will saves to be made, most can be worked around with immunity spells/gear, and by the time i hit level 20 I have 25+ will save anyway, but i do take iron will so you may be right. Keep in mind there are also many nasty fort saves to be made. Altough the build becomes immune to poison eventually leaving the instakill fort saves mostly. But yeah, good input I agree the build can be optimized even more :) For instance taking a forth rogue level sooner for uncanny dodge would help with ambushes, also the 13'th level in vivisectionist is questionable since spell resistance is mostly useless unless your'e a pure caster. For lvl 1 spells you need 11 int, level 2 12 int and so on. 14 int is overkill tbh, but it leaves alot of flexibility early and mid when choosing headgear. The bonus spells are nice though. If you wanna optimize you could always drop 2 int and pump wisdom a little. And yes i have int item. The crown you get when you become king gives +6 to all mental attributes.
@@vergilia000 Theres a great dagger in the place where you free the nymph in the act where you are at war with Pitax, if you dive and make an athletics check you can find it in the water (never got that dagger myself, i read that's where it is tho and beat myself up for passing it). There's a totally awesome dagger if you let the vivisectionist advisor die (can't remember his name) in the cellar to the trolls. that has +3 dodge bonus. There's also a great mithral dagger in a chest when you go look for Tristian through the first world portal that has build in haste mod on it. its behind some pseudo immortal shambling mound. Then there the lightning duelist with +1 dodge bonus, but I cannot remember where to find it.
Would not it be good to have combat reflex feat rather than let's say Piranha Strike? Combat reflex works well with shatter defences for crowded fights.
Interesting build. I think if I were trying it might sub out Iron Will for Blind Fight. Just some extra insurance really, in case you do get blinded, but the added Immunity to Gaze Attacks from 1.1 makes that feat so tasty.
Hello, just wanted to ask you for your own opinion. This build is rly nice though I do not much like the dual wield penalties. I also tried and saw many go 19 sword saint (str) / 1 monk. Maybe even 17 SS/ 2 pala and one monk. The crits and damage it makes is great from what I was told. Thing is, all of them use two-handed weapons (or one-handed but spell combat or casting that magus has is turned off for 1.5 str multiplier). I do not mind having it off as it gets too management heavy. But of you have seen such builds, which one would you say is more powerful?
That would be super strong in the early game and leave you with a completely useless pet already in act 2/3. Pets are great from what I read, but a lvl 5 pet at high levels would just get one shot and slow you down.
I think the pet gets to level 18 or so. It scales up with you but maxes out. Maybe level 17. I played to level 14 (am trying your build solo on challenging) and the Smilidon was killing everything. At pet level 7 they become large and have reach. *EDIT* You’re right. With only one level in the pets class it would max out at 5. My character was a ranger so pet got really high.
I can't get scaled fist to work atm. It gives an ac bonus that is capped at +2 regardless of how high your charisma is. Do you not have the same issue?
Thanks alot sir!! this build is very helpful for beginner like me :D I want to ask your opinion about your vitellus build vs jaer valentos EK build, what is better for unfair mode chapter 5 and 6?
I am thinking about getting this game, but what are prerequisites for multi classes?...Like say if I wanted just to do something off the wall...BS like idk Barbarian and Magnus or something.
Hey Mithrals thx for the build, I do have a question though, do you wear armor? cuz I've been playing with a party till lvl 5 with armor, and the monk level just doesn't seem to work with me...lol should I just swap it with vivi or rogue?
no monk cant use armor if they want the class bonus to armor. better to go wo armor and use the mage armor spell that you can get either from a wizard or from the wand you can buy from bokken.
Yes it would absolutly work, the paladin levels are mainly there to make it easier midgame, but midgame is fairly easy already. As long as you don't weaken your lategame it should work. Most crucial lategame saves can be worked around with immunities. If you are gonna do that then i would defenetly build with a higher wisdom score so take 2 points from charisma and put that into wisdom instead, or else illusionists and enchanters are gonna ruin your day.
I have no trouble with kingdom management at all. At the moment most of my companions are lvl 1 and doing ok as advisors. However if you want to level them there is a project that takes 7 days and cost 100bp that lets you level a companion to the intended level compared to where you are in the game, as if you would be using shared xp. I just cant be arsed to spend the cash and time :)
Damage is ok enough wo sneak attack, I have a lot of dex and convert dex to damage with finesse so I still hit for 20 - 30'ish each hit x 8 attacks each round. Very few enemies are immune to both Shatter Defense and Displacement. Only 2 I can think of are enemies with barbarian levels and Ghosts.
@@t_task Hopefully, I'm working on an Eldritch Knight as we speak, altough I will not put a build guide out until I can be sure it works both solo and on hard or unfair all the way to the end first. So stay tuned :)
Then take it! My experience is that enemies dies so fast if i get sneak attack on them that there was no need for strength drain at all, by the time i kill them due to strength damage they would already be dead due to sneak attack. Crippling strike is great! I was pondering that for a while myself. That said draining strength does lower their attack and dmg even tho I don't need to kill them with it, so you do have a point. Maybe crippling would have been better.
