Bearded Vulture & Golden Eagle ⎸ PHOTOGRAPHY EXPEDITION to the ALPS - ep. 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лют 2025
- For many years, I have dreamed about photographing Alpine wildlife during the brutal grip of winter. This January, I finally made it happen, and went on an eight-day long expedition in the company of Mateusz Piesiak and Levi Fitze. I travelled around Switzerland and France and visited exceptional locations for wildlife photography, capturing some of my best images to date. In the first video in this mini-series, I photograph Alpine birds from atop a mountain in the heart of Switzerland. Come along for a film of bird photography, friendship and wild adventure, and stay tuned for the continuation!
The species I photograph in this video include the bearded vulture, golden eagle, white-winged snow finch, Alpine accentor and yellow-billed chough/Alpine chough.

I was really suprised as you named Chris Kaula. I am German and watch his videos. You both make really nice pictures.
Thanks a lot!
Wonderful pictures, I really like your style, thanks a lot for sharing. Wish you succes. (I am also bird wacher, France/Morroco).
Thanks so much for your kind words!
I know how hard it is to find bearded vulturs and getting those outstanding shots. Congrats!!!
Thank you so much!
This video made me passionate about bird photography 🤩
I'm so glad to hear that!
Great video Tobias👍🏼 🦅 You are a very cool group of young photographers.
Remembers me of a very emotional encounter with a golden eagle when I flew in a glider in the Swiss Alps back in the 1990’s. He flew with me for several minutes in a thermal, looking at me like in one of your photos, as if we knew each other. 30 years later the image is still in my head.
Thank you very much! So awesome to hear that one of my images could awaken this fantastic memory of yours. Thanks for sharing!
Incredible video wow
Thank you very much!

Great shots of the eagle 🦅
Thank you!
My favorite image is the one with the five yellow-billed choughs with the one in the center being the only one in focus and happens to be looking at the camera. Great shot.
Thanks a lot! It took a lot of attempts to get that one image that I’m happy with.
@@TobiasGjerdewe understand! ❤
Hi Tobias! I know this alpine fauna well, I often take photo it in the Italian Alps, I'm Italian. Great emotions .... and you are very good!!
Thanks a lot! It is truly a unique fauna, and I am certain I will return for more in the future!

Fantastic. Really high quality through and through.

Hi Tobias, I’m having goosebumps watching your spectacular video! We have bearded vultures in a remote mountain range called The Drakensberg - dragon mountain - in South Africa. We spent a day at a special bird-hide on top of the mountain photographing these incredible birds. We didn’t have snow 😊. Thank you for sharing this awesome footage.
Thanks so much! They are such cool birds!
Those shots of the Golden Eagle were incredible!! This entire video was so well done! Can't wait for the next part! If you can make sure to see the Cinereous vultures in the French Alps! They're MASSIVE!
Thanks a lot! That would be great!

Hi from Australia! Amazing footage of gorgeous birds in such a beautiful location! Those Bearded Vultures were very impressive but I really enjoyed seeing the little finches & accentors! They were just stunning, particularly against the orange on those rocks! Just beautiful!!! ❤

as a 17yo amateur wildlife photographer is amazing and truly epic to see another young fellow get amazing pictures with modest equipement and showing that you do not need a 600mm to get amazing pictures! amazing stuff bro!
Thanks! You’re right - learning to photograph doesn’t require the highest end equipment
Very nice start and photos are excelent.

Cheers!
Very interesting Video👍🏻 love it how you documented your time with the Bearded in Vallis ☺️
Thanks a lot!
great work and beautiful pictures! Looking forward to the next part (:
Cheers man! And thanks for great company!
Spectacular images and storyline. 5 species but just amazing composition and the snow contributes to the high key effect improving subject isolation. Have subscribed and looking forward to the next episode. Was thinking I’d have to go to Lalibela, Ethiopia to see Lammergeier but this place seems really beautiful. What part of the Swiss alps is this?
Thanks a lot! This is Wallis, more precisely Gemmi
Absolutely stunning, great work and beautiful photos. Keep it up you guys!
Thanks a lot!
Vedlig bra Tobias!
Tusen takk Karl!
I crossed the Dolomites in 2018. A bit after that I go really into wildlife photography and always dreamed about going back there. So this here is a dream come true! Well done, Tobias!
Hope to meet you one day in Norway :)

Thanks! It’s worth a visit!
That was an amazing trip to the alps. Really cool and stunning footage. Well done. Greets Stefan
Thanks a lot!
Pretty well made. I did the same few days ago, waiting hours to see these beautiful birds. We had not that much luck to see the golden eagle that close, but to see the birds and that scenery, was just stunning. I´m really curios to see part 2. Hands down for your work.
Thanks a lot! May you have better luck next time :)
Fantastically great Tobias, so young and talented, good at making videos, very good in English ......fit in terrain and with the future ahead of you.
Ketil Wardenær
Tusen takk Ketil, det var veldig hyggelig å høre!

Hi Tobias, I'm Italian! I know this alpine fauna well, I often go and take photos it in the Italian Alps. Great emotions .... and you are very good! 👏👏👏
Really cool video! 😃
Thanks a lot!
Nice video, thank for sharing. Regards from Marco.
Thank you very much!
Beautiful photos! Where in the Swiss alps did you go?
Thanks! This was in Wallis - more precisely at Gemmi
Great photos and videos, as always, but how do you not overexpose with so much white snow and sky? You are very good, congratulations.
Many thanks! I always photograph in manual mode, so I simply adjust the exposure to be brighter
Your photos are truly special, thanks
Amazing video! I live in Switzerland and want to get into wildlife photography. I wanted to ask, once you got up there on the mountain, did you just settle down somewhere waiting or did you move around a lot? Would love if you you share some insights. Cheers!
Thanks! I was standing relatively still for many hours :)
Very nice, beautiful shots. I encountered a couple of golden eagles last fall in a well-known hawk migration route. Unfortunately, the lighting was poor and having just arrived I wasn’t prepared, so no shots. But I still treasure the experience of seeing such magnificent birds so close.
Thanks a lot! Yes, just the experience of being up-close with these elegant raptors is a pleasure!
10:46 best photo!
Thank you!
Kul geit!
Ja mann, grov geit
Hello very nice shots and experience
Could tell us more about this location ?
Thanks! This was at Gemmi
The thing was that you didn't tell us where the hell you are, more exactly 😂😂 all good !
This was at Gemmipass in Switzerland
Nice video , beautiful pictures. Can I now where exactly this was?
Thanks! This is Gemmi pass, by Leukerbad
Great video, what binoculars do you use?
Thanks! I use the Zeiss conquest 10x42
Where did you go? I am in Switzerland and I would like to find the Bearded Vulture.
Gemmi pass
I see golden eagles 1000x in a day here in kashmir , 3 sit on my house roof top
Oh wow, that’s amazing! In the rest of the world they are considered elusive and rather uncommon, most places
Utrulig flotte bilder og film.
Tusen takk!
멋진영상 잘보고갑니다
Good 👍
Thanks!
