BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY at the mercy of the SWISS ALPS - ep. 2

- The Swiss Alps make up a brutal and desolate land during the harsh grip of winter, yet a handful of mountain specialists manage to thrive through its blizzards and cool temperatures. In this breath-taking landscape, swiftly changing weather creates brand new image opportunities on an irregular basis, and bright sunshine can suddenly turn to gusting wind and drifting snow. In these ever-changing conditions, I photograph some of the fascinating wildlife that can be found on the peaks of the winter Alps.
The species in this video include the bearded vulture/lammergeier, white-winged snow finch, Alpine accentor and the Alpine chough/yellow-billed chough.

You are a superproffs- nice photos
Thanks a lot!
Your artistic ability and enthusiasm for wildlife shine through both of the videos from this trip which I have watched so far. In an increasingly competitive arena your work stands out. You run the risk of being very successful. Excellent work!
Thanks so much for your kind words! I greatly appreciate that!
you got me Tobias, first time but not the last. Many years of great photos ahead of you ...
Thanks so much!
Your images are so poetic! Great video Tobias!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful compositions, nicely done. I love wildlife photos that include the scenic environment, even if the wildlife is relatively small in the scene.
Hopefully, your lens survived being packed with snow. My RF 70-200 became fogged and frozen on the inside on one of my outings. When I arrived home after slowly warming it up it was still fogged. I sealed it in a bag of uncooked rice (a desiccant) and by the next day it was fine.
Thanks a lot! The lens was completely fine fortunately :)

Huge tallent!
Thanks a lot!
Another beautiful video, Tobias! Too bad that you didn't get rewarded for your effort climbing that hill. Normally, there are quite good chances for rock ptarmigan up there...
Thank you very much! I had heard there were good opportunities, but I guess you can't get lucky every time
When was this filmed and where? Really great looking place and birds obviously nice to photograph.
This was late January at Gemmi
Hi Tobias! Great video, where is this location? Looks like Leukerbad.
Thanks a lot! Indeed, it is :)
Yet another great video. You also have some stunning photos on your website.
I'm surprised you called the bearded vultures Lämmergeier as we usually know them as the Bartgeier in (Swiss)German. I'm also curious about your English. Scandinavian people often surprise me with perfect English but I'd say yours is accent free. Do you have an English family connection?
Looking forward to more quality content.
Thanks a lot for your kind words! I have lived two years in England, which is why I speak British
@@TobiasGjerde I moved to Switzerland 37 years ago but (Swiss) German isn't anywhere near as good as your English!
Great Video 🤩 You see the Face in the Rock at 2:32? 😅 greez from Switzerland 🙋🏼♂️
Thanks! Haha, yes, I see it
Tobias, dette er veldig bra! ser fram til flere episoder.
Tusen takk Kalle!
Co to za szczyt i jaki hotel?
kommer episode 3?
bra video
Den er i produksjon! ;) Tusen takk!
Nice video. Frame your images at the end in black instead of white. Let's the image stand out better
Thanks! And thanks for the tip! In fact, it’s a conscious choice, as I prefer the white bars bringing out the highlights in the image. In a way I feel it gives more life to the image, even though it may not have the same contrasty effect
@@TobiasGjerde I understand. My issue with the large white border is two-fold : 1. it creates a white balance for your image that is unnatural and unintended. 2. as you say, it destroys contrast. Perhaps a thin white border on a black field is a good compromise.
