    if your having difficulty getting it off of maintenance mode when completed and assembled properly, check your battery voltage, a low battery will cause issues removing maintenance mode...ive experienced this myself and had to put a charger on it and it came right off

    First change 2yrs ago (2020) was done by the dealer. They claimed their computer was needed to "reset" the e-brake. Cost about $75. This time, hanks to your video, it cost just $25, and hour of my time.
    During the replacement, I eventually just removed the entire caliber mount to insert the inside pads. Imo, the clip design makes the job much more difficult than it should be, and removing the mount makes inserting the inside pad considerably less fiddly.

  • @mronemanband1

    Put in in maintenace mode then take it out of maintenace mode before you do anything if it doesnt work correctly take it to a shop or buy a scanner you don't want to be stuck in maintenace mode and you have only 5 seconds to do the gas pedal push or pull parking brake switch.

  • @fluzwup
    @fluzwup 5 місяців тому

    If you don't get it fully into maintenance mode the first time, and cannot easily compress the piston fully, then you need to put things back together with the old pads and take out of maintenance mode (see end of video) and put it back in maintenance mode again, and it should work. Trying over and over to put it in maintenance mode when it's already there will just waste a lot of time...

    • @lachlanmorgan4544
      @lachlanmorgan4544 11 місяців тому

      Bleeding is only required if you are removing the brake hose which you wouldn't be doing when changing pads. When you remove the hose it let's air into the system and you are required to bleed the air out. Unless your brake pedal is very spongey I'd dark/dirty you should be alright without bleeding your brake fluid :))

    Do I have to do this if I’m only working on my front brakes? My front brakes are squeaking (high pitch) so I wanna take a look at what’s going on. Also once I jack up both front tires would I be able to spin each of the front tires freely? I’ve only ever worked on front wheel drive cars so I don’t know if only jacking up the front tires will allow me to turn them freely since this is an awd vehicle.

    Changed pads and took it out of maintenance mode. If i engage the parking brake then turn off car wait 20 seconds and then start it and disengage parking brake, it works, both rear parking brakes engaged and disengaged and both parking brake light are out. NOW, if you have the engine running and engage parking brake and then disengage it, brake light starts flashing as well as the light on the button. Both brakes are disengaged. When i engage them again, only the driverside rear is engaged and lights still flashing. I disengage the parking brakes and it releases but light still flash. I can replicate this everytime. Downside is you cannot use your cruise control if these lights are still blinking. I shut the car off, wait 20-30 seconds and the lights will go out and your back to normal.

      Conor Long - I did the same thing (pulled the caliper off then put it in service mode, causing the piston to overextend). I found this method on another post. First, make sure you are in service mode, then disconnect the electrical connector from the electronic parking brake (EPB) motor and remove the motor from the back side of the caliper. Then, using a large C-clamp (or whatever tool or device you have) 1) apply pressure to the piston in until it stops, then 2) turn the EPB nut on the back (of the caliper) clockwise until it stops or the pressure on the piston is relieved. Repeat these two steps until the EPB nut will not turn any more. At that point, you should be able to seat the piston completely. Then you are ready to reinstall the EPB motor and reconnect it. I used this method and was able to get the piston back in its proper position. Hope this will help someone.

    You didn't have to turn the piston as you compressed it back into the caliper?

      @@backyardchevy328 so you only turn them as they compress on manual parking brakes then?

      For anyone who has the same problem. I bought mx808 scanner, plugged it in, went to maintenance, and did the same coming out of maintenance mode steps --- that fixed it.

    I cannot get my car to go into maintenance mode for the life of me. I'm doing exactly as the video says. Press ignition 2x. Hold down gas and ebs and then press start 3x and continue holding down. Nothing is happening.
