Chelsea used to be one of my favourite away grounds to visit. We ( Manchester United ) always got a good allocation, the old north stand used to hold about 10-12,000 fans and we would normally fill it. One of the few grounds where we got a good allocation. 1993/94 was the last season I went there as that was the last season the north stand at Stamford Bridge was terracing.
Back in 83 the governing bodies didn't have a clue, they thought we were all skins with tattoos .It reached it's peak in 85 ..Now they have the upper hand but football now has lost it's edge that it had in the 80's...Most of us have grown up and have families and moved away from it but we'll never forget those days when it was played by real men and watched by real men.
I'm a manc and admit Scousers started the fashion. The Charity Shield 77' is when lois and Trabs and cagoules were first seen. Fair play Cockneys were smart but they never started the fashion FACT
By 83 liverpool had moved on from the casual look... We were doing our own thing including semi flares rugby shirts etc...lpool wouldn't wear lyle and Scott roll necks etc that was defo a london thing.....!
@@ijs6427 Harris tweed jackets, M&S wool crew neck jumpers, button down Ben Sherman shirts, kickers. Remember the Benetton rugby shirts and England ones. Everton and Liverpool lads.
Home Fans only is a stupid idea, Most Clubs can't fill their Grounds unless it's a Local Derby (No pun intended) or a Match against a Big team with a Large Away Support. What moved Hooliganism most away from Grounds was CCTV, Ecstasy & Police getting Training from the RUC in Surveillance and Crowd Control (Riot Control) which they practiced on Miners, Ravers & Protesters and Football Fans throughout the later 80s and ever since
@MrLeebo123 I was too young in 83 mate...i started in 84 .I had my Lois flares and leather Jersey in 85 but had my tachinni tracksuit and lyle and scott polo neck in 84 with my Ivan Lendl trainers....Happy days pal and in all seriousness if we hadn't come along fashion in the UK would have been gash..we took it out the new romantic crap and put some style in.
The 20 Chelsea hoping to ambush and the bottle throwing. Cant show it cos it didnt happen. Police would have sorted that. Out of site of our camera's ha ha. Film it then.
@MrLeebo123 Well i was into Rudeboy and Mod in the early 80's so was a natural progression to get into casual i thought..being well dressed was always first and foremost in my mind and having a good ruck at the football was a laugh to...I've heard these stories about Scouse gangs heading to London to steal imported tennis gear in the early 80's cos Liverpool didn't sell it..Aberdeen were dressing in Casual gear in 79/80 ...
We were all skinheads in london 1978 and the black lads on our estate and north west london were wearing pringle burberry lois jeans gabbici ect and when we stopped being skins we just copied the young black lads..loada bollicks about aberdeen being first..we copied the west indian kids..years before it came a football casual fashion
all the top firms came too shrewsbury back in the early 80s celsea were not even in the top 5 at 5 was middlesbough 4 was darby 3 man city 2 birmingham but 1 was cardiff they were fuckin off the rails they were the day and night was a blur of total violance witch was never seen before or since.Let me just sat i sin many offs over the years but they were mental. no firm could off got near them that day and thats from a leeds fan............

4.10 that boy flicking the V's looks like a right nutcase.
I think about 17 of us went down in a minibus, remember seeing a glimpse of us on midlands today, those WERE the days.
7 seperate areas! One for pensioners, one for children, one for blacks, one for cripples, one for Jews, one for meat heads. Fucking ridiculous.

Home fans only. That idea was eventually implemented at Luton Town.
