I discovered your fashion video and ended up binge watched so many of your other videos. While a lot of it might be common sense, your reasoning, explanation, and personal stories make it so easy to digest and is so motivating. It has been a good slap in the face reality check, and taught me to view things from a different perspectives. Thank you!
Wanhee really hits home with this video, and I could say from my personal experience he's spot on when it comes to why we overeat and why it's hard to lose weight. There are a ton of opinions and pieces of advice out there about what emotional eating or overeating is and how to stop it that, I hate to say, are almost all wrong. Emotional eating is not a moral failure or a lack of knowledge about the harms; it's not a matter of gluttony, laziness or stupidity, nor is it simply about not knowing better or getting hooked so badly on specific foods. People often treat overeating as if it's a rational or conscious choice, but this is the furthest thing from the truth. You should not treat or react to others' food or weight problems this way, nor should you try to solve your own problem with this mindset. It will only lead to frustration, guilt, shame, insecurity, lack of confidence, broken hearts, and dysfunctional relationships. I’ve learned this the hard way. **Emotional eating is a kind of addiction**. I know when people hear this they become perplexed and try to resist the notion, but isn't food to you like a drug to a conventional addict? Notice when you need your emotional eating the most, and you'll get a hint of why you do it and what function it serves. You wouldn't need it so desperately if it didn’t serve some function. From my experience and what I’ve learned working with others, basically, you need your addiction when you’re overwhelmed by negative emotions or at risk of feeling them soon. Specifically, it’s tied to feelings of deep insecurity or powerlessness. Let me tell you my story to clarify this point. From an early age, my parents instilled in me the need to get things right. The specifics don’t matter-what’s important is that whatever matters to me, I need to get it right. This led to my self-worth becoming highly dependent on getting things right, and when I didn’t-or feared I wouldn’t-I’d lose control. That’s when I needed the addictive behavior right then and there. It didn’t matter how big or small the situation was. If my subconscious detected the risk of powerlessness, I’d go off the rails. Now, there are two important caveats to this: 1. **It doesn't matter what form your addiction takes**. As you may relate, people often shift from one form of addiction to another because it's never really about the specific substance or behavior. 2. **Addiction is a psychological problem**. While some substances cause strong physical dependency in their regular users, that’s not why it’s so hard to stop. We’ve all seen people quit harmful habits after facing a serious risk or the potential loss of a relationship. The core issue isn’t religion, genes, peer pressure, willpower, intelligence, or knowledge-although these can all play a role. Now, we get to the suspenseful part: how do you stop it? Here’s what I say to everyone: “Yes, you didn’t become an addict by choice, but you can definitely break free by choice.” The core of addiction is the overwhelming feeling of powerlessness about your emotional state. You feel trapped, like an animal, and your primal fear and flight instinct kicks in. This creates an intense urge to flee or do something to regain control and feel powerful again. For the addict, this powerful act is the pleasure they derive from their addiction. An addict often feels they can't control anything else in their life, and so the pleasurable addictive behavior becomes the only thing within their control. But that’s the big illusion in every addict’s subconscious, one that has been ingrained for so long. In reality, **there’s almost always something that can be done to relieve that sense of powerlessness and helplessness.** The long-term solution I’ve found is to live a life of direct, active psychology and behavior. This leads to a new lifestyle and mode of existence-an Active lifestyle. It takes time and intentional effort, but it doesn’t just solve your addiction problem; **it transforms you into a new person-a higher person.** This approach worked for me and for many others. All other approaches are simply shortcuts or easy fixes; they will work for the wrong reasons, and you will as easily fall off the wagon. Easy come, easy go. Don’t take my word for it, ask others or try them yourself. What do you think? If this resonates with you, please send me an email at (mailto:contactminahimself@gmail.com) so I can give a detailed breakthrough of the method that worked with me. Nothing would make my heart happier!
As an Asian guy, I would love to see a video on your staple meals and how you make them. You probably have a meal plan system in place too that keeps you on track.
No1 thing I picked up from wanhees channel is no matter what you eat, no matter what exercise you do always make sure you’re in calorie deficit state to lose fat
The thing where you said about walking 10k steps rather than cardio is really true. I have been doing it well i do 10-15 min spin cycle at normal resistance and then later on walk for 20 mins, i also walk in between my sets. All that is really effective. Also yeah don’t listen to lift tool failure plz. It would leave you with low energy hence no proper workout. All that is effective. It just takes time so be patience so keep at it.
Watched your videos a year ago and now I actually want it bad enough... Went from 197lbs at 23% body fat and a BMI of 29 to... 179lbs at 18% body fat and a BMI of 26.1. Still on the grind till I see abs!!!
Where did you get that polo, I NEED it 😭😭!!!! but anyways, I appreciated your video and I love how you apmost singled me out when you mentioned "the guy who deviates from the plan the moment he gets the chance to". I'll keep that in mind for sure. Keep your heart ablaze!!!
Great vid, my current issue, with coming from 30% + body fat and never being lean, I don't know what I need to get to be Happy. 62kg was my final target from 95kg, and yet I'm about to hit that next week and be at 15% body and it doesn't seem enough ...
ig my way to stop sugar was to increase eating spicy and chilly things. now i completely forgot about eating sugar or craving them.. just think about minimalising it as much as possible not stopping sugar then u will see results.
@Wanhee Hi, thanks for your vidéos. I began jujitsu 2 times a week and i have difficulties to put a program which integrate bodybuilduing 3x a week with the jujitsu and the rest day. Do you have any advice? Thanks.
Is it safe to eat less/fast for teenagers? My mom wont let me do it because she thinks I will get anemia or stop growing. My BMI is below "normal" but still I have a big belly even though I'm supposedly 13% body fat.
Man i will say that your delivery in alot of your messages are not quite right, Lifting until failure and lifting until exhaustion is not the same, You have to lift near muscle failure to stimulate muscle growth and u said about minimalist workouts, yes u dont have to buncha sets jus do a few sets until failure
I may have missed the video, but has Wanhee already talked about bulking and bulk-cut cycle? There are many videos on how to get lean but not a lot on the bulking phase, unless he doe body recomp all the time.
He doesn't. (His focus is becoming lean and minimalist workout) He even sometimes starts his videos with : if you're looking to become big like a gym bro type of situation then his videos aren't for you.
Man...I loved your videos but this was such a letdown. Your body dysmorphia is the most evident here than it's ever been - healthy isn't always when someone is at their leanest. You're basically spouting "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". Kudos to you for your restraint but it feels very disordered, we can all do what we want with our body but this feels like you're spreading your ED to others, be careful with your viewers man you have a duty to them. All the best
So under what circumstance would you say healthy isn't when you are the most leanest? If it was about being skinny at the expense of good muscle mass I'd agree, but leanest means to have a good ratio of fat/muscle.
@zac99991 let's look at an example - if a woman had such a low body fat % that she developed amenorrhea (the loss of a regular menstrual cycle), however she is at her leanest ever, would you consider that healthy?
Lost 11kg since january watching your videos. Yet to see visible abs but am grateful for the progress. I think about 3-5kg away from an ideal physique
If you don’t mind me asking. What was your starting weight?

Do cardio to improve your cardiovascular health. That's its sole purpose. That's why I do it.
Thanks for being the first fitness youtuber to explain the science behind things
The first?? Bro, there are like a dozen other fitness/bodybuilding channels that are all about the science lol

if you have a big belly and can't see your abs, you are very much over 20% bodyfat. Eat lots, but lower calories, stuff full of veggies and protein.
Ok I can try it for a month
nice

Gym one is wrong, literally no point in not going till failure, it becomes a fitness class
Bro what, he literally said high intensity but not till failure
