I played the demo and it was actually good, that's the sad thing. Ubisoft just didn't give it the time of day when it came to marketing, and it wasn't worth $40. Also didn't help that they told people to get used to not owning their games.
The part that always bothered me about The Lost Crown is that... the gameplay is AMAZING. It's their best work since Rayman Legends. But why, oh, WHYY did they make a Prince of Persia game where you DON'T play as the Prince? And why give the new guy the MCU Killmonger haircut and try influencing urban culture into Persia? It just makes no sense...
This stinks. Rayman Legends and Prince of Persia were legendary favorites. BUT a good portion of the team seem to be working on a Rayman reboot. I hope it works out for them. But who knows with Ubisoft anymore.
Before I got into the first Assassin’s Creed game, when I got my PS3 I bought the prince of Persia trilogy. I beat every single one of them and loved them, though it’s tough to say which I prefer out of the first two games. One has the best story line; two has the best look, best combat and weapons. Even with PS2 graphics slightly upgraded for PS3 the games look great and oh my gosh the women were gorgeous. Who said anything about porn, so being attractive equals porn? Where does this mindset even come from? It has been a staple in movies and television that characters appearing on screen look attractive. “No wonder your president is an actor, he has to look good on television,” Doc Brown from Back to the Future.
My favorite is the one after the trilogy. Its art design is amazing in motion, and you have to play the male and female characters simultaneously and in harmony to actually get in a groove. A couple working together in a video game? I know, we were a barbaric people back then lol
If Prince of Persia Warrior Within was released today, all the usual suspects would call it racist and sexist goonerbait game. How low has Ubislop fallen.
@@RealPointVPoint did you even play the game? It was a legitimately good metroidvania. Good level design, fun mechanics. Generic story, weak characters. I got the platinum in around 40-50 hours. Its problem was being overpriced. It’s worth a solid $25 and not much more.
"i have never played this game and i know why it failed!" bro... nobody who actually played this game cares about your "woke" stuff. it sold actually really well for a metroidvania, but it had shitty marketing. the first trailers were ass and did nothing to advertise the actual good parts of the game
They got paid before it was released. It wasn't a failure to Ubi. The only ones suffering are the ground level workers who don't get the ESG cash for checking boxes.
Let’s not pretend Ubisoft doesn’t know what they’re doing with the character design. It was made ambiguous intentionally, masculinity bad, soyboy californian surfer dude good.

Yesterday my assassins creed shadow preorder was canceled on the xbox store ? and you can't find it anymore in the store also..I don't understand why they cancel it because it comes out on February 14 ?! is the game ok??
While I did enjoy playing the 2008 Prince of Persia, I thought it was super repetitive. Plus, Eleka did most of the fighting for you, every enemy was a mini-boss, wasn't a fan of the drawling style of animation and it lacked story. To make matters worse, the ending said "To Be Continued ..." but they never made a sequel for it.
The prince will always be from the first trilogy. With that said. I'm going to go play it right now. Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones. Fucking masterpieces.
@@MelonieMacGoBoom Well, it is a good game, and really not DEI. Just bad marketing I guess. And yes, people were praising it, although not on a large scale obviously.
I love the prince of Persia games. Let's be realistic here ubisoft wasn't fooling anybody. A black prince of Persia. The main character had zero appeal. I can't be the only one who feels this way.
The black guy wasn't even the Prince, he is the captain of the Guard who is basically a god. They mentioned that in the trailers and stuff. Y'all get worked up over anything and slap the DEI label over it.
I think, the main problem with Ubisoft today is, they feel the absolute need to give the main character (and others, too) a different ethnical origin, than it actually originally should have. AC: Shadows. A Samurai - well, everyone would say "Cool, I can play as a japanese!", but Ubisoft have their own way of doing things. Same goes with the not so persian Prince right here. This looks like an african! I'm german, so, WITHOUT any pride to be german, but what would an Assassin's Creed in Germany be like? Who would I play as? Not as a german, I'm sure. Ubisoft would probably make us play as a fat dutch or something so off, I can't even make it up...
Warrior Within remains one of my favorite games and I don’t think I’ll ever stop revisiting it. Recently I played the trilogy on hard and beat Sands of Time in about 3 hours and Warrior Within in like 6 or something. It was so awesome. Find the video "[ENGLISH] Prince of Persia: Warrior Within - ALL of The Prince's Quotes" and I dare you to not want to play it. After seeing the Concord and Fable trailers, I agree that the campaign against pretty women and good taste in AAA games is outrageous. However, Warrior Within is a bad example to bring up. Kaileena and Shahdee’s outfits and proportions are so ridiculous it skips right over sexy and goes straight to comical. As much as I’d like a return to the Prince’s edgy attitude and the Dahaka’s frightening visage, there’s no reason to attack The Lost Crown. It’s a great game made by different people with different ideas. Honestly, I’ve never met a Persian. It would have been better if the main character represented one. But there is room for many different versions of the Prince, whether young and carefree, smoldering with rage, struggling against his dark side, looking for his lost donkey full of gold, or a tiktok dancer with a stupid bird that confuses me in walkthroughs because I didn’t pre-order. Okay I don’t remember the story, but I do remember the powers and abilities, level exploration, unforgiving bosses and intricate platforming puzzles. The comments show those who have played the game liked it. This sort of reminds me of when DMC came out and people were upset about Dante’s hair color. That’s a good game too.
Lost Crown was the best Ubisoft game in years. Excellent metroidvania that was critically acclaimed. The game failing had nothing to do with “DEI” stuff, but rather a lack of marketing. Do you play and judge games solely based on character design and not overall gameplay design? If you actually played the game you would understand how good it actually is. Blame skin color all you want, but you just look stupid for doing so.
@@uniqtechniq9314 That's the problem lol. Had to make him a gay lame DEI hire replacement and game failed cuz it looked like ass. Woke ass. Doesn't matter if nothing else in it was woke. We can’t catch a break either we can’t have our characters to stay the way we remember and loved them they can’t just leave it alone or make their own trash instead of attaching it to a popular IP and completely ruining the character or the lore of it🙄
To be fair the game was really good. It was just a 2D side scrolling Prince Of Persia like the original Prince of Persia (As in the actual original from the 80's) However, I do understand why it failed. It wasn't just the development team doing there political pandering - granted to a lesser degree than most - but also the game was not what a lot of Prince of Persia fans wanted. Most wanted either a full remake of the PS2 game or at the very least a game that used an improved version of the mechanics of the PS2 games. Overall, it was a good game. Solid 8 out of 10 for me. But, I know it was not everyone's cup of tea.
I remmber Prince of Persia 2008; beautiful looking game, but gameplay wise it was shallow. And this was the time when the game industry was afraid to give their games sub title names to the mean title name. And hiring Nolan North to not have a persian accent.
I played only the 2008 game and it was just a boringly weird made game. Nothing was really challenging but it took a while to move around, so if you find yourself in the wrong place to go, you got heavily punished and now had to travel across the available map to get to the right location. I played for a few hours and kept seeing the autosave message on screen. When I powered off and came back, I lost nearly all my progress because I stopped manually saving and said forget this.
@@JohnDoe11VIIimo, 2008 is the weakest in the series, but still good. Consider the 2010 entry called forgotten sands if you’re still interested in the series. That one’s pretty good and more like the trilogy. It’s available on pc and Xbox backcompat

And I think Ubisoft has proven they just can't do it right. So maybe give it to someone who can instead of woke activists and people who have no experience in the gaming industry.

1. Sargon is not black, he is literally Persian, with dreads. 2. Newsflash - even white folks can have their hair styled into dreads. This applies to Iranians too. 3. Sargon IS the prince. His mother is Thomyris, the current ruler of Persia. This game is not "WOKE" Poor take.
Prince of persia for ps2 and ps3 was incredible, bringing life back to a desolate area was so satisfying. I tried the new one played for 5 minutes and never played again. The reason the originals were great was because of dahaka, a dark tone in warrior within and puzzle galore in the first. The new ones just a metroid rip off
Its not like Persians have a bunch of games they are "represented" in. Its Prince of Persia, Aladdin games and RTS games with the Persian Empire. Black people are in everyyything.
I think the difference with Ekko was, despite the crazies trying to create this woke/gay narrative about him at release, he had decent lore. Now he's this sort of staple in League who has always remained relevant, with a good kit. Most of these new models following that bipoc, lgbtq+ ambiguous, characiture are just lazy templates to satisfy corporate criterion that no one cares about. Soulless, uninteresting, protagonists that always walk the line and never engage in the intellectual heresy of deviating into ethical quanderies or challenging socioeconomic or historical narratives. ESG is turning video games into American cereal; something created in a lab to resemble the genuine article (wheat or corn), but is actually an amalgamation of synthetic processes and ingredients that only differ from each other by color additives.
There's tons of Metroidvania's being made, and most of them are from companies that don't force you to give them your information to sell to third parties. Unlike Ubisoft. No one is even talking about the Prince of Persia game that came out after this one. Yes, they made 2 in the same year.

When i was looking at him i thought " tik tok guy" and 30sec after she say the same haha
I played the demo and it was actually good, that's the sad thing. Ubisoft just didn't give it the time of day when it came to marketing, and it wasn't worth $40. Also didn't help that they told people to get used to not owning their games.
The artist formally known as the Prince of Persia
Surely the Modern audience showed up to support this game, Right?
They couldn't afford it.
Wrong - pulls out shotgun
Dude has that, “ye ye” haircut like Miles Morales and that doubly from the Acolyte.
And here i am waiting for ubisoft to rename Prince of Persia to Prinx of Persia
not playing this jaden smith crap
This character looks like he would have a tramp stamp.
Also, after I save the world, I would like to kiss a princess, not a prince.
I'm surprised he wasn't wearing baggy pants , gold chains, and sunglasses. They just don't seem to get it...WOKE won't sell.
Get that exaggerated swagger
Can't anyone come up with actual criticism anymore
Melonie mac you did fantastic job keep it up i hope you doing great
My favorite is the one after the trilogy.
This was actually a good game though. Sad that it didn’t sell well
No it wasn’t it was shit…
Tough. Maybe they shouldn't have marketed it as "black guy with side shave, oh, and we're changing the genre away from what you're used to".
@@RealPointVPoint did you even play the game? It was a legitimately good metroidvania. Good level design, fun mechanics. Generic story, weak characters. I got the platinum in around 40-50 hours. Its problem was being overpriced. It’s worth a solid $25 and not much more.
@@hueco5002 demo sucked it’s not POP game by any means did you even play the SOT trilogy or the original two?
I'm not sad
"Prince of Sausagehair"
"i have never played this game and i know why it failed!" bro...
nobody who actually played this game cares about your "woke" stuff. it sold actually really well for a metroidvania, but it had shitty marketing. the first trailers were ass and did nothing to advertise the actual good parts of the game
I remember when “woke” meant being aware… not sure why it got pushed into this other meaning
woke was always evil
Ikr, it used to be a meme term for being tuned in on all the conspiracy theories hiding in plain sight.
Prince of TikTok - The Lost Franchise
What's up with this failure. We all know failure is NOT an option.
They got paid before it was released. It wasn't a failure to Ubi. The only ones suffering are the ground level workers who don't get the ESG cash for checking boxes.
@@Slitheringpeanut Oh.
Let’s not pretend Ubisoft doesn’t know what they’re doing with the character design. It was made ambiguous intentionally, masculinity bad, soyboy californian surfer dude good.
First 3 prince of persia games were absolutely amazing...the first one even at 30 years old today still rings in my mind. Idk wtf happened to these studios.
Yesterday my assassins creed shadow preorder was canceled on the xbox store ? and you can't find it anymore in the store also..I don't understand why they cancel it because it comes out on February 14 ?! is the game ok??
Shouldn’t have bought that junk
Where did you get that butter pillow in the background?
Barff, they replaced the Jake Gyllenhaal image with some random African with trimmed dei dreadlocks. Just no, go bankrupt already Ubisoft.
As Eddie Murphy in Nutty Professor once said I've heard of Dreds but sh1tlocks...please!
The prince will always be from the first trilogy. With that said. I'm going to go play it right now. Sands of Time, Warrior Within, and The Two Thrones. Fucking masterpieces.
@@Cevanth excellent choice!
Great that those are all still available to purchase
@@jase276 I still own the OG PS2 releases and on STEAM play them religiously
Wasn't everyone bragging how good this game was when it came out like 9 months ago??
I didn't see it lol
@@MelonieMacGoBoom Well, it is a good game, and really not DEI. Just bad marketing I guess. And yes, people were praising it, although not on a large scale obviously.
@@MelonieMacGoBoom yeah it's got a 9/10 mostly, I think the gameplay was what was good about it.
Don't care if it was "good" it's DEI planted on it.
Some people against DEI are justifying it just because of it. 🤦
@NormanReaddis was there? Where the dudes hair?
I love the prince of Persia games. Let's be realistic here ubisoft wasn't fooling anybody. A black prince of Persia. The main character had zero appeal. I can't be the only one who feels this way.
The black guy wasn't even the Prince, he is the captain of the Guard who is basically a god. They mentioned that in the trailers and stuff. Y'all get worked up over anything and slap the DEI label over it.
You clearly haven't played the game to understand anything.
I love you Melonie Mac ❤️🖤❤️😎🤘🏻
Do we know what happend to the fake Prince of Persia Team, are they kicked out or just split up?
They have been reassigned to work on the AC games.
PRINCE OF PERSIA WAS TOP OG FROM 1 to 3. maybe ASPYR could remastered those but i doubt ubisoft would let them.
I'm so afraid of the outcome of the Sands of Time remake... it will be Tomb Raider 2013 all over again, I'm tired.
And the OG Prince is in the game, you don’t play as the OG Prince you dummy
Shut up it was terrible and not even a POP game you can leave now tourist
@@uniqtechniq9314 That's the problem lol. Had to make him a gay lame DEI hire replacement and game failed cuz it looked like ass. Woke ass. Doesn't matter if nothing else in it was woke. Just the hint of it in the "superficial" (that is subjective btw) design choices are enough. Wasn't broke, didn't need fixed. Deal with that reality
@@AnonymousNoNayme Maybe if you played the game you'd understand its nothing to do with DEI.
Modern gaming has had all the edges filled off to make them "accessible and inclusive" a la Veilguard
😏 Heh. She can only whine about his design but CAN'T lie, and say that's it a bad game. It reviewed mostly positive. Remember Melonie: "Thou shalt not Lie"- Big Daddy Jehovah-chan😂
Well I say Good riddance. Haven't they rebooted Prince of Persia more than Crystal Dynamics rebooted TR? I'm just tired of reboots in general. Now I'm not saying I have anything against reboots. But if they're going to do it, they need to understand the source material, they need to tread carefully when it comes to trying to change it without Alienating the fandom. And I think Ubisoft has proven they just can't do it right. So maybe give it to someone who can instead of woke activists and people who have no experience in the gaming industry.
The lore in this game is like the previous ones though. It's actually a good game.
Lara loves tombs''not ppl''
Ubisoft losing money because they double down on the DEI? A company being closed after not meeting EA-- I mean, Acti-- damn, I keep doing that, Ubisoft's unrealistic sales expectations? If only the warning signs were there!
1. Sargon is not black, he is literally Persian, with dreads.
2. Newsflash - even white folks can have their hair styled into dreads. This applies to Iranians too.
3. Sargon IS the prince. His mother is Thomyris, the current ruler of Persia.
This game is not "WOKE"
Poor take.
Make All Games Great Again! MAGGA!
Prince of persia for ps2 and ps3 was incredible, bringing life back to a desolate area was so satisfying. I tried the new one played for 5 minutes and never played again. The reason the originals were great was because of dahaka, a dark tone in warrior within and puzzle galore in the first. The new ones just a metroid rip off
If the main character in Star wars Outlaws looked like the actress I would have bought it. Thats where they lost me.
5:05 Discounting the hairstyle, I love the jaw and chompers on the middle-bottom dude there.
Its not like Persians have a bunch of games they are "represented" in. Its Prince of Persia, Aladdin games and RTS games with the Persian Empire. Black people are in everyyything.
Prince of Africa.. and no beautiful female protagonist. Back then Kaileena was peak.
This game reminded me of the sequels in relation to the prequels when I compare it to the 2008 game.
They know what we want. They know what we don't want. But they make what they want. This is not hard to figure out.
What is up with all the killmonger hairstyle lol.
Off-topic, but you would make a wonderful Rinoa for Halloween Day. You got most of her looks.
There's tons of Metroidvania's being made, and most of them are from companies that don't force you to give them your information to sell to third parties. Unlike Ubisoft. No one is even talking about the Prince of Persia game that came out after this one. Yes, they made 2 in the same year.
Well one thing is certain, the state of the Ubisoft brand is well deserved.
Killmonger Hair!
Prince of Jamaica
Pro tip: go watch the prince of persia movie, one of the best movies after a game
It was so good
jake Gyllenhaal did deliver
An ok reimagine and it was made by Disney when they're still good.
It was a pretty great game. I’ve no idea why they made the Persian Prince (not the OG) so obviously non-Persian.
Dated or not I love the Sands of Time trilogy, and still play it to this day
He’s the price of Persia and they choose a black dude lol. I love the wandering prince skin it lets you play as the real prince
I love PoP but the main character threw red flags up for me right away. I might get it later when it's $5-10, I hear the gameplay is good. Still, I much prefer the cel shaded one from PS3 and the original DOS games
Ironical , considering its the best Ubisoft game since a very long time .
Regardless of the main prota who is not the prince.
GamePlay, level design and art direction are great . Its a good game .
Unlike those garbage unfinished AAA or AAAA like Star Wars Outlaws, Skull and Bones or AC shadows who looks buggy even from its trailers .
Horrifically wasted potential because the original Prince of Persia series were reasonably great including the early time reversal everyone hated that was also great🍀
After the success of Tomb Raider Remastered, give me the Sands of Time Trilogy Remastered! I'd buy that in a heartbeat!!! Take my money, Ubisoft!!! 🤑🤑🤑
Im not with ubisofts sshit but this was a really fun game. Also this game was a metroidvania style game vs pure action. They didnt make this a AAA title and only released it on the shit Ubisoft+ thing which didnt help
Disband Ubisoft. All of it, 😅
At least do Splinter Cell team pre-emptively
Melonie, you're a fan of Tomb Raider and puzzles?!?! No way! This is the first I'm hearing of this! 🤣
Honestly, good. If they don't want t honor the legacy of the franchise, best to just let it die. At least for now.
