I cannot thank you enough for putting this on UA-cam. I've always wanted to see Meadowhalls old design again, and now I finally can. Seeing it all again with the classy mall look. The trees, food court, fountain. I'm so glad you kept this, it looks as great as I remember.
it was way better then my friend it was like stepping into another world a world of discovery, truant from Hinde house school for many days because of this place.
it an excellent video to capture the best decade i have lived in. the nineties were the time when we got everything just right and its so great to see how meadowhall was. Imagine trying to even film in there these days, the security teams would throw you out due to paranoia. Thanks for the upload, it good, it great.
Back in the 80s and 90s early 00s they was huges of entertainment stores with retro games like sega mega drive and snes and also loads of vhs movies tapes back then too god i miss them days
I was only 5 years old back in early 90s this was the golden era of Meadowhall back then till 2007 flood and it was never the same since then Sheffield has become an corpse in recent years
Members of public losing family or friends please meet them by the statues at market Street 🤣 I still say it to the Mrs these days if ever we go in there lol
@@TheMuddatrucker the person that did the announcement was ex Calendar News presenter Gaynor Barnes. She was contracted to do various announcements for Meadowhall as well being a news reader for Yorkshire Television as it was once then. The regional name was dropped and is just simply called itv and changed for the worse by modernising just like Meadowhall been updated for the worse.
@@matthewgulliver596 good story 👍🏻 I don’t watch tv these days, but I know what mean. Same with meadowhall, I used to go there regularly through the 90’s and early 2000 but these days it’s more like a once a year flying visit and I’m in & out as quick as can be! Oh I do miss Tandy and Beatties 😏 oh and the old original Gadget Shop!
just caught the kid mention the game gear game woody pop,i guess he saw it and wanted it from the game shop,i was a similar age and had that game myself.
Great to see this video ,I was there with an ex girlfriend & her parents I was 21 she was 17 ,first time I went ,it was November ‘91 when I went ,bought clothes & still remember buying sonic for my mega drive ,don’t think girlfriend approved ,remember that day like yesterday .When England was England 😔
Gud old days, far better for kids growing up in my generation in 90s than now. At least Wednesday wer second only to MUFC as the most feared team in premiership back then WTID 🔵⚪

I used to have a Saturday job at Beatties when I was 16 in 1991. Brilliant video, so nostagic!
The place almost felt magical back then, especially as a kid in the lanes and the oasis.
A loving grandmother walking after her grandchildren...nice to see
Looked better then than now
Agree. It looks really plain and depressing nowadays. Even goin back just 10 years it still looked better then than it does now.
Strong people created good times
Weak people create hard times
This is a great piece of footage. So nice to look back. Thanks for sharing this
I used to live up north from 1993 to 2002; can't believe they changed it so much. It's so sad that they changed it!
Really enjoyed this. It has changed a lot and so many of the shops in this clip no longer trading altogether

Gosh this is literally a big part of my childhood and cool to see it as it was back then. Thank you.

this is so so so so good!!!! ive been looking for a video like this for ages!!!! unlocking all my nostalgic memories, thank you!
Thank you for uploading this. It's so sad how much of the place has needlessly been changed. Society too, if you get my meaning.
Yes we get your ‘meaning’ and it was ‘needlessly’ added.
Love this! So memories. Can’t believe they changed it so much

Amazing, thankyou so much for sharing this footage
There was a regular announcement I used to remember about meeting lost ones at the statues at market street.

This! My mum always made us go to the statues.

I remember the car outside the resturante upstairs
It’s just sad looking at the Disney shop now that it’s closed
The old Coca-Cola Oasis sign certainly makes me feel nostalgic.
Thanks for this upload
I was two years old during this time

AYYY IS THIS WHAT MEADOWHALL LOOKED LIKE IN 1991??
Omg it looked so much more fancy
Loved the 90s 🥲
Wasn't perfect but it was way way better too 😢
I'm not sure whether to feel so very young, or so very old.
I find it odd to see the Mega Drive and Gameboy being sold as current products. It's hard to think of them as anything other than retro these days.
So many memories Jesus Christ things are changed in now days I didn’t know there’s a Disney store in these days

Way before I was born I was born in 1993
the fact that some of these kids are in the 40s/late 30s is fascinating
and on a sad note, the elderly people have most likely passed away
A lot different then, much better times, now it's full of immigrants.
No women in burkas 😂
is that supposed to be a positive to you?
