- A Sheffield City Council video looking at the draft Unitary Development Plan - a plan that aimed to make the city better place for people. It covers a number of key issues - land use, jobs, housing, environmental issues, shopping and transport, etc.
The original videotape is stored at Sheffield Local Studies Library (ref. VID 96).
i used to love the hole in the road . When people came to visit it was the first thing they wanted to see , it was quite a experience walking into it.
I loved the hole in the road and now its gone, what a meeting place.
I feel old when I can see someone in 1991 looking and sounding like a thing of the far distant past! The city airport turned out to be a white elephant, one minute it was there and then it was gone! Something needs to be done about the background buzzing on this video, I thought there was something wrong with my computer at first!
Wasn't this when rhe Rot set in? Starting with World Student Games.
There never was and never will be a public consultation as far as SCC is concerned.
A "like it or lump it" attitude.
From the failed attempts to cut down trees to the controversial caz and the constant micromanagement of traffic.
Parks left and neglected, roads full of potholes, toilets and libraries shut down.
Had enough and moved to lincolnshire in 2020.
Came back for a visit in 2024 , the place is a ghost town .
All the major big shops gone and boarded up , christmas market a shadow of its self.
I miss the old sheffield from the 70s,80s,90s,.
It used to be 😢 not any more
What happened. Turned in to a graffiti filled shit hole
But diversity is our strength
