Nice work Scotty. Gerardo setup the Haltech rotary boost switch for my car. It’s amazing on how much a turbo can be in limiting a full performance of a engine! It will be interesting on track performance now with the engine upgrades and then when you upgrade the turbo. Who knew a Volvo could be such a ass kicker in general 👊👌
That's because they can physically only flow a certain amount of air, which makes a certain amount of power (hence turbo power ratings) it's like having a restriction plate for a race series!

@@STREETMACHINETV I mean for the cams, head, general driveline and fuel system. This now has everything it needed and it's going to haul ass. Sure the turbo is a borrowed unit, still get you kicked out from the drags
Well done Scotty, just think of air volume, find out what the engine is capable off and then get the right turbo based on volumetric efficiency and bang for bucks she will scream power maybe around the 600hp easy if you have the right comb meaning turbo heads and exhaust set up and especially if you can keep the air going in cooler, after all mate if you go to Heathcote this weekend mate she is going to be a hot one ,so there goes your numbers, hot days are no good for turbos still make power, but lose so much as well, so a good interchiller would have done wonders for the power, anyway good luck?
That seems like a good place to leave the set up to me, better than pushing harder with a bigger turbo and finding the next piece that can't handle it. (possibly bottom end?)
i like the way you mentioned that boost is a measure of restriction, i'd also seen this boost drop on ported head making the same power at lower boost. does this less boost at same power level make the engine live longer or is 500hp at 25psi same as 500hp at say 35psi engine longevity/safety (I would have assumed head gaskets survive better?)
Boost is measured at the inlet, not inside the cylinder. The engine doesn’t know what pressure was needed to force the air in, all it sees is 500 hp worth. It’s the power that the engine makes and the rpm that it makes it at that determines how strong the engine needs to be.
