As far as the weather goes, it's better than Florida with the hurricanes. For the power, some cities on the outskirts of Atlanta have underground power lines, like in many cities in Gwinnett county.
Trees are a good thing, Mike. Unlike a fence post, or street sign, they do support "life". You don't 'really' want to get rid of them or cut their numbers. They are part of the solution. I gotta admit though, you don't want to challenge one at any speed greater than 1 or 2 mph - at least not the big ones.
I’m an Atlanta native living in SoCal (hopefully to be an Atlanta resident again when I retire) I’d say I experienced way more random power outages for no clear reason in SoCal than in Atlanta… Also electricity is way less expensive (and cost of living in general). I agree with traffic and lack of infrastructure spending. I personally blame lack of investment in the roads and public transit on the state and certain select local governments. Also having trees is a net good thing or you’ll end up like SoCal having landslides every rainy season… I’ll take that and deal with the pollen.
The primary reason why I might consider moving from Atlanta wasn't mentioned - spiking violent crime. After 20+ years of declining crime and overall improvement in quality of life, it reversed in 2020 / 2021. Problem is, the same is true in most other large cities around the country. I only hope it's a short-term blip rather than a long-term trend. Fingers crossed.
Mike. install a generator that is tied directly into your electrical system, that runs of your propane. It will come on automatically when you have a power outage. Ours is a lifesaver!
A man who doesn't love trees is a stick in the mud. What you want? All asphalt? Got to love you but Hotlanta ain't LA or NYC btw.. . Why the he'll you move to the south if you didn't want the south. You lost me on this one. .
I've appreciated all of your videos UNTIL this one. Are you frigging kidding me about the tree rant?!! You can't blame trees for the stuff your droned on about. Are you kidding me?...Georgia is "too green"?!! If you want to live in a "concrete jungle" like NYC, LA, or similar smog-filled, crowded places, then you certainly have your pick of those places. But, please don't fault states/areas that are smart enough--or just lucky enough--to not destroy the environment...at least not as much as other areas. And, you had several of your assumptions/statements incorrect as far as alleged "bad" things that are associated with trees. You mention trees attracting rodents and insects. Actually, rodent populations mirrored human expansion...and since you seem to enjoy NYC, I refer you to studies that indicate NYC has the worst rat population in the US. Being an animal rights vegetarian, I have nothing against rats, but your assumptions are just wrong. Thanks for all of your other nice videos, but this one was pretty bad I thought, with a number of wrong statements and I think also a very slanted video...and this comes from someone who's spent a lot of time in Atlanta and parts of north GA. Take care Mike. Good luck with your move. :-)
That's usually new yorker for you. They want to move for a change then they start comparing and complaining about everything in comparison to NYC. They should just stay in that concrete rat infested place.
I was in Atlanta several years ago. I thought traffic was quite busy back then but it was moving. I was back in Atlanta the year before and traffic has become much much congested and stop and go seems to be the norm compared to how I remember it was from several years ago. Traffic does seem to go faster than other states I've been in but it's not necessarily a bad thing.
You lost me when you mentioned the trees! You should research trees, vegetation, because your opinions are wrong. Take the trees off, and the weather, the heat, humidity, and all else will be much worst!!
My daughter lives in Canton which is N of Atlanta. Nice area and still growing. My understand is Canton has a nice little airport in the area. I plan to visit in the fall.
I feel ya Mike. I moved down to Nashville in 06, it’s the same way here. Big growth, traffic, poor contractors, you have to do it yourself or have your own crew you can depend on. Rural areas really aren’t that much better except if you have to go into the city, traffic will get you. For entertainment it’s not so bad at later hours.
It’s taken me a long time to come to the conclusion that I don’t like dense living situations like big cities. I love GA and the places around Atlanta.
I too live in Georgia but hate driving through Atlanta. I plan my drive so I go through late at night (between 11 pm and 6 am), so traffic is not that bad.
Come to Virginia. Everybody else did. We have 2 lane roads with 4 lane traffic, no plans to upgrade for 20 years at least. Each neighborhood has 2 street Nazis to scream at you and threaten you in and out for work or home. Business follow up is not a problem: There is none. If you ask for it, you will live to regret it. We also have full rate aircraft tax where I live. They all left the airport. We have tons of retail that close early, and cats with no spay for everyone. You can get good prices on airline tickets, if you go to DC or Raleigh. We also have the only state with no radar allowed. Not caring is everywhere now.
I lived in ATL for about a year. I started to really hate it. extremely expensive HORRIBLE traffic.
I lasted four months in Atlanta
i like the shadow of trees

NYC all day Atlanta or Georgia is too crowded
So many trees, the streets are named after trees.
Good video. Move to Sandy Springs, GA.
This traffic has NOTHING to do on NYC traffic. And DC still has 10x worse traffic than Atlanta
OK, a litany of man made whomps, but when you start going after TREES... then, a MERCEDES ad?
Trees have a cooling effect because of the shade areas is create. Then the wind pushes that cooled air instead of uncooled air.
That's right, trees lower air temperatures AND humidity!

Atlanta did not earn the moniker " A city in the forest" for nothing.

Yeah, in 21 years in Atlanta, I've found my power outages to be rare and short-lived.

I think it's a short time blip as a by product of the pandemic.
Hey brotha Mike ik frm experience wit the A traffic as an ex truck driver. Thx for sharin as always. #SALUTE✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Come to Phoenix.... Great place for flying too
Yup

On point. I'm from Chicago, living in Atlanta. 💪🏾

That's why I left about a year ago the traffic is horrible. Can't get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time
Very good points.
Most cities itnis best plan your travel across town.
Visited SoCal and itna mess.
Drivimg the 405 is the worst highway for traffic.
You lost me when you mentioned the trees! You should research trees, vegetation, because your opinions are wrong. Take the trees off, and the weather, the heat, humidity, and all else will be much worst!!
I find that alot of people don't like trees which is crazy. They love living in concrete jungles. Smdh

I always hear how great it is ..that must be why everyone has flocked there and made it so crowded

I think in general the south is laid back in terms of professional services
Lol. Trees bring rodents??? So what brings the huge rats in NYC. 😲 OMG 😲
New Yorker in Atlanta: “can’t you guys space out these trees a little bit?”
No.. we love our trees
