After my business failed, I’ve worked in corporate for about 15 years and done quite well financially. HOWEVER, I’ve never been satisfied or fulfilled and it grates on me everyday. I swear I’ve been depressed this whole time and it’s time to get back in the saddle. Thanks for sharing Mike.

what a motivational story! For me it was covid, as a private english teacher i just had no way of working. It was my business, i had worked hard to get students! To get to a point where i could make more than the minimum wage. I'd studied and worked for several institutes which was degrading before becoming my own boss. And all of that came crashing down! I was jobless for about 5 months. I learned a lot of things. I'd say the biggest thing to date is to get other sources of income. I started a business doing something i always found interesting, printing 3D products. I also realized that english teaching was never going to make me enough money to fufill my dreams. I also started studying programming which is my long term goal. My 3D printing business has also tought me a lot of stuff i now use to get more higher paying students. English teaching is now my primary source of income again and i make more than before covid! I guess i also learned to really stick with something that i believe in! That's helped me succeed in both of these business adventures! I hope this helps someone.

And you become smarter to get back up. When you are on top you think you are the smartest person, but you are really not, it is when you are down that you becomes smarter to get back up. Plus you do not become an arrogant person with money because tough times will humble you

It's a classic mistake to think that one success means success is automatic. So be especially wary of things requiring great personal investments. Losing multiple millions is a serious no no :)
The whole kit building thing I would warn against as well. It feels like thin margins, big expense for the customer, few customers. The whole kit industry feels like cuban car situation. so poor. so dry. I see much greater opportunity in aviation for large display integrated avionics and a 10-15kg turbofan jet engine. Both are instant high value businesses that could be sold for hundreds of millions once slightly run in. There is a slight tech threshold of course but a few good men...

Thank you for sharing Mike. I ran into the same situation in Lyft where the end-user set there own house as the destination and went to the gas station to buy cigs. I wasn't confident enough then to know to get out I and unfortunately my jobs for the next several years never got me anywhere. Until 2020 . . .it opened a door into a new IT job where I could actually save money while paying OFF all my credit cards and pay down private student loan debt (no degree). I don't want to stay comfortable but want to prepare for the next storm. I'm learning python and studying for certifications. Should I be planning or worrying about next steps, or should I make sure I have this python skill down before I think about how I am going to monetize this new skill?

Working for Ride sharing companies is modern day slavery. I ruined my brand new car driving for Uber. I'm still trying to pay it off from the peanuts they paid me.

What do you consider peanuts, I'm only asking because I'm about to start driving full-time?
