I love the “do us” and “let Jazz be Jazz” philosophy. Also “if you kick the bucket while doing what you love” that’s not so bad. You seem very happy with your lives and the choices you’ve made. Good for you!!
I am your neighbor (Sagle). 75 years old. 20 years as a local builder. At 71 years old I built our retirement home so you are not too old! “Don’t let the old man in! A friendly suggestion, make ALL your 36” wide allowing wheelchair access. Just in case.
Thank you for saying that you're 67 and have no experience. This gives me hope, that hubby and I can do that, too, in a couple of years when we're financially ready
Through all the years of watching your videos it is hard to characterize what would be deemed a bad video either the scenery takes front stage or the subject matter is so alluring that it is a moot point. There still is a saying that you hear now and then ..It’s not the journey it’s the path you take getting there! Be careful and stay safe my friends God love ❤ya both and of course Jazz too .
I really enjoy watching your videos. You are enjoying your lives and please continue to do so. Looking forward to watching in 2024. Good luck to you and may God continue to bless you.
All these comments people make are definitely entertaining….. The best thing y’all have going for you, is the fact you two are on the same page. That’s what’s most important when it comes to moving forward through this thing called life. Y’all are great… Keep it going…!!!
Dear Norm and Kim you are a great couple enjoy life to the fullest and live life the way it was intended for you not some one else learn live enjoy keep up the great work
“We’re just us”… yes… but you’re doing incredible things developing the off grid property. It’s relatable from a “I wish I was doing that” to “they are just normal folks and I’m learning things that I could possibly do.” Thanks for the videos and sharing Jazz with us. We went from three little pups to zero in about 18 months… they were all 16+ years old when we lost them. Give her lots of hugs, I’m sure you do.
After watching this video, I have to jump on the band wagon with those recommending a snow blower for your tractor. I've lived in North Idaho for 20 years and for 18 of them, I've had a big blower on the back of my tractor. I also started with a plow and very quickly learned that I can't find a place for all the snow we sometimes get. But that blower can take care of all of the snow we've ever had! :-) If you want to spend the winters near Sandpoint, a blower will make that practical. 🙂
Curious, did you pull your 5th wheel down in the wintertime from northern Idaho. If so which route, did you take and how was it. I'm thinking about driving my Class C down to Arizona next January from Bonners Ferry Id.
We pulled out in early Feb. We took Hwy 200 from Sandpoint to Montana and then I-90 east to I-15 and then south. We watched the weather carefully and made sure there was not snow in the forecast.
We started watching you 3 or 4 years ago because we purchased a Grand Design trailer to replace our previous trailer in 2020 and you were a GD owner that RV'd and we wanted to see what you were going at times. When you changed your priorities to the Eagle Ridge idea, we kept watching you because of the interesting idea of building a new home in the "wilderness". Since we live in southwest Idaho 23 miles west of Boise and you purchased property in northern Idaho, we became even more interested. We are members of a RV group here in Caldwell that has visited up there a couple of times in the past and we understand what you see up there! It IS just beautiful! Keep having fun and do what you want. We don't care to live in that type of snow, even though we get a lot here, otherwise we would love to live up there also. Best wishes to you and Jazz!!
You guys are great! I love watching your videos. I’ve been watching since you were an RV channel. I don’t leave comments often, but love the fact that you both are so positive and easy going. It does amaze me that people can be so negative. Just because they are scared of getting outside of their comfort zone or just want to be an armchair quarterback, doesn’t mean they need to bring others down. We need more positivity in this messed up world. So don’t change a thing! Keep doing what you do and continue to bring the light! Love what you guys are doing! 😊
You both are doing great ! We love your adventures, thank you for sharing! And we are a Mountains and a Beach couple too! You both look great ! Don't forget, "Today is the First Day of the Rest of your Life" I think you both live by that!
I hadn't realized you merged the mountain beaches name with off grid...glad to see you two in warm weather...I have always loved your energy and your vibe! Gotta love all the peeps who love to tell others what and how to do things...all our differences is what makes the world go round folks! You keep on keepin on!
When you pull solar wire First get a flexable shopping bag tie a sting or 1/4 in rope In the shop have a shop vac tape to conduit with No air leak turn on vac take shopping bag to solar panel and start vac shopping bag when stop pull string you may be done and conduit is clean. Pulling wire set up wire in building tie wire to the rope take tie pull over solar conduit put rope in the pulled and tie tracker low speed and have her eye the wire in the building
Since you went more off grid we haven’t followed you as close however really admire your spirit of life. This video makes us think we’ll starting watching regularly again. My wife really laughed when you were talking about being 67 and in good shape. She said wonder how they’ll feel in 5 yrs (we’re 72). We love traveling in our small 23ft pull behind for two to three weeks at a time while love going back home ebiking golfing and hiking central Wa which is much like your area. We love Sandpoint as we have ridden the Harleys through there many times and skied there as well. We also have started watching motor yachting because it brings different challenges as well. And we dream we can afford it not lol. Keep up the good life. Your doing a great job letting us live it with you
Saw you traveling down rt. 1 and turning down highway 95 towards Bullhead City. Saw on the back window of your fifth wheel your website. Thought I would check it out and see what is up. Safe travels and God Bless you and your family. 🥰👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
Hey Guys You both are doing a wonderful job, keep up the great work. I just installed a Gas boiler for my in floor heating. This also could be an option , if you will have a propane tank on the property that is. Enjoys your video’s just came back from Lake Havasu AZ , it was wonderful. Now back in Michigan , the good news we are in 40-50 ‘s already . We are doing some work also, completing our lower level (2400 Sq ft) and plan on doing it our self, will see how that go’s. Hope to met up with you both in future. If you ever come to MI , you have open invite park your Rig at our place. Thanks again Rose
I really enjoy watching your videos. You are enjoying your lives and please continue to do so. Looking forward to watching in 2024. Good luck to you and may God continue to bless you. Love seeing Jazz playing all over, such a happy puppy 🐶 🥰
Another suggestion for you two. There's another UA-cam couple that live close to you called Ambition Strikes. They just posted a VERY informative video on backup power. I believe if you watch this video, it will answer all your questions and help you make an educated decision.
We love watching your videos. We have been full time RVing for 2 years now. Enjoying it very much. We get some of the same questions about family. Our family is spread out and wants us to enjoy what we like doing. Sure, we miss them, but it makes getting together, when we can, so much more rewarding. Keep doing what YOU WANT. Good luck.
My wife and I agree do what you want for yourselves! Don’t let anyone dictate your life! My wife and I started to watch you guys RV and have been to several places you have visited. And also loving your new adventure l!
Kim - You have a radiant smile. We’re the same age as you and would love to take on an adventure like yours. I totally agree with your philosophy. I’m looking forward to watching your upcoming videos on taking the trailer to Mexico.
Since you guys mentioned your age, I am 59 and I am amazed at how much of your land development that you both are doing on your own! Bravo!! Keep up the great work and the great videos....really enjoy watching your progess!
Great video Norm and Kim! My most favorite video was the one where you had traveled to, if memory serves, a Harvest Host. Her husband had passed away months before and she had fell behind on several projects that she needed help with and you both pitched in and helped. It was so heart warming and just brought me back to the comfort of knowing that there are still caring, loving, helpful, grateful and humble human beings that remain in this country. God Bless you both.. Jazz too! ✝️🙏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🥰😘🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great video! Been watching you for many years. Fellow fulltime RVer here. So refreshing to hear you say your age and you are undertaking this major homesteading project. In our younger years we remodeled many homes and we are researching what to do when we come off the road full time, we are both early 70's so there is hope for us yet! I have read that barndominiums must be paid for with cash that loans are not available. We prefer debt free living. Would love to see a video that you share how you afford all of your off grid projects. Always check for insurance BEFORE a purchase, we live in a crazy world these days. Enjoy your time in the desert and in Mexico. We winter in Yuma and summer in Utah.
I Love You as a Couple!! I just turned 70 and it makes me feel so good to know I can still be goofy and fun and I don't have to act my age!! I Do Me!! God Bless and I look forward to More Videos!! 🌞❤️✨️
Thanks for the review and reveal of your 2024 plans! It is so interesting to hear about your plans and thoughts on a subject that we are going through right now. I for one, would like to know details on what vendors (contractor, well driller, etc.) that you used. I know that info is somewhat specific to where you are building, but some of us are in the same area/region and would like find reliable people based on real-world experience with them. Also, would love to hear details of your planned inverter/battery system. Did you write your own solar power plan for the permit process or did you hire someone to help with it?
We have mentioned the well company in the well videos and mentioned the building contractor in various videos as well. The well driller was Minden Well Drilling, and our contractor is J&M Construction. Both are out of Moyie Springs, ID. We will cover the solar information in a future video. Thanks!
Great q an a norm and kim enjoy your holiday in the desert south west . Looking forward to all the videos for 2024 and all the futre projects builds on the barndomium
I can relate to this video so much. I’m in Arizona in winter and Yaak, MT the rest of the time. I went through every obstacle that you have gone through and I have had some laughs with what you are saying. I absolutely love the challenge of my property and as hard as I work there the better I feel. I go into town to Bomnefs Ferry for groceries, hope to run into you guys one day and say hi ;) Keep up the great work and don’t listen to the trolls, no one will ever understand the gratitude and pride of the hard work and the reward you get at the end of every project and there is nothing like being in nature doing it. Kudos to you both ❤
There are so many people that are on UA-cam moving and building in Northern Idaho . It is so beautiful there. I guess property is cheaper . And you 2 are doing a awesome job with the place. What a great place to learn new skills doing it yourself. Whats your next project?
Thanks so much. I wish property was cheaper but really nothing is these days. Our next project is to finish insulating the walls and then building the electric utility room so we can continue getting all our solar equipment installed!
I have enjoyed your RV videos and really enjoyed watching you develop your property. Don't worry about the critical folks, they will always be negative, and there is always folks who know better than you do and will let you know it. Keep up the good work on the property and I look forward to the next improvements you all make. BTW we live in a rural area of Northern California (although not as rural as you) and our fire insurance has gone up to just under $4000 a year, after 2 companies have not renewed us. We are on the California Fair Plan which is not fair.
What a beautiful area you are building your dream at. We have been following you since you put your solar panels on your fifthwheel in your warehouse. Still love you guys!!
We moved to Montana for the snow. Now I do wish we had moved to the other side of the mountains, there is much more snow on your side of our mountains.
Have really enjoyed your channel throughout the years. What you guys have accomplished is amazing. Beautiful property, can see why you love it so much. Jazz is really cool, you guys are doing a great job with her.
Hey Guys loving your videos! So just an idea to get your solar up and running, build an insulated utility room! Also I just bought a snowblower last year from Besctco in Oregon, 72” inch rear mount PTO $2200
A while ago you had a sponsored Portable Refrigerator/Freezer which you cooled your drinks and made ice cubes. What was the brand if you would mind sharing. Thanks in advance!
Still subscribed. We've watched since you started your channel but dont usually comment. Now that we retired, we hear all the time we're too old to do what we do. No it's not what they would do but it doesnt mean we cant do it. You do you and enjoy yourself.
When you get ready to pull that wire in the conduit here is a little tip/truck. Get a plastic bag from a box store tie the handles to a loose end of pull string. Stuff the bag with the string tied to it in the end of the conduit. At the other end put a shop vacuum hose up to the conduit. This will pull that bag and string right to you. WARNING be very careful with the string as it goes in the conduit it will burn your hand. Use some heavy gloves to guide it. Then use that string to pull a heavier rope in and use that to pull the wire. Hope this tip helps Safe travels and fun on your Dream property.
And to add on to that you can use your track hoe to pull the rope thru with your wire attached to it, sure beats trying to muscle it thru. Love your videos also. Love watching jazz too.
You are correct the area around Eagle Ridge is beautiful. We have stayed twice at Blue Lake RV Resort near Bonners Ferry going and coming from Alaska. But you can keep the snow, we are from the South and not accustomed to snow. Just my opinion but I would live in the Barndo Apartment when it is completed when you are at Eagle Ridge and not build a separate house. Saves a lot of money for other things. You have two campers for family to use when visiting. Enjoy your life at Eagle Ridge, it is a beautiful property.
We enjoy your videos and look forward to them. Ignore the nay-sayers and keep doing what you love, it keeps you young and healthy. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
Great review video. We began watching you because of your RV travels. We continue watching because of the way you face challenges, show your successes and failures, and keep humor in your presentations. Oh yea, buy a blower for next winter....
We admire you guys! It’s important to do what you want and what you enjoy when you are retired. We are enjoying watching your journey! Every channel has naysayers….just let it roll off your back and move forward.
Norm and Kim, we are working on our property not far from you. We are not much younger. Keep inspiring us. Our shop build starts this spring, a DIY project. Maybe, we will meet someday at the Home Depot. Lol
So inspiring, this was a fun video. I just found your channel by accident today and have subscribed after watching several videos. You have very interesting topics IMO. We are the same age as you guys and love to travel, explore, etc. You have the same reaction as we do when friends/family tell us we are too old for some of our interests. We just walked the 800km Camino de Santiago from France to the end of Spain and people thought we were insane, lol. I made a very amateurish video series so our kids and grandkids could follow and that was fun. We are considering selling our home (that we love) to lessen our burden and have more money to spend on stuff we want to do 😉. All the best from Newfoundland, Canada.
Many years ago when we were building our home, we were going to insulate our home ourselves. We ended up hiring a contractor to do it because the cost was very close to if we just bought the insulation and did it ourselves. Did you find the cost a lot different? Glad to see you happy!
I love that I started watching you guys when you were traveling/rving and NOW you guys have land that you are building on, too! I also love that you guys shared your age and told us that if you guys can do what you're doing (without doing it before/having experience) than we can do it too! I think if you're in the health you guys are then keep on doing what you're doing. Don't let the age hold you back! Seeing people who are older than my husband and I who are doing/just getting started doing what we're working towards doing is encouraging and inspiring to us! I have always enjoyed your channel! Plus to know you guys have land in the same area as The Johnson's(another channel I enjoy)! I like that you guys said you're hermits! 💕🏡👩🏻🌾👨🌾 We like people but we like being to ourselves too! 🎊👍
I love the “do us” and “let Jazz be Jazz” philosophy. Also “if you kick the bucket while doing what you love” that’s not so bad. You seem very happy with your lives and the choices you’ve made. Good for you!!
Exactly. Thanks so much
I am your neighbor (Sagle). 75 years old. 20 years as a local builder. At 71 years old I built our retirement home so you are not too old! “Don’t let the old man in!

Hey neighbor 👋🏼. Thanks for the great insight.
Thank you so much!
You guys are both amazing for what you have accomplished. What a beautiful paradise you have.
What a ride it has been over the years…I love your adventures and may 2024 bring even more! Blessings to you both!
I love Eagle Ridge! Can’t wait to see the progress in 2024. Jazz is like a bouncing ball🤣🤣North Idaho is gorgeous!

Hey guys just live life to the fullest that’s all we need to do as you’re happy that’s all that matters❤

Good morning!
Have really enjoyed your channel throughout the years. What you guys have accomplished is amazing. Beautiful property, can see why you love it so much. Jazz is really cool, you guys are doing a great job with her.
Thanks so much!
Hey Guys loving your videos! So just an idea to get your solar up and running, build an insulated utility room! Also I just bought a snowblower last year from Besctco in Oregon, 72” inch rear mount PTO $2200
Hey thanks for the snowblower tip and yes, the utility room will be insulated.
Oh yea snow blower for tractor just for low end is about 4-7k. But top end is well over 20k.
But keep the chains for the tractor.
Thanks for the tips!
A while ago you had a sponsored Portable Refrigerator/Freezer which you cooled your drinks and made ice cubes. What was the brand if you would mind sharing. Thanks in advance!
It’s from EcoFlow
Still subscribed. We've watched since you started your channel but dont usually comment. Now that we retired, we hear all the time we're too old to do what we do. No it's not what they would do but it doesnt mean we cant do it. You do you and enjoy yourself.
Thanks so much. Love to hear this!
Question.. why are some of the garage door panels different shades?
They just need a good cleaning.
Hope this tip helps
Safe travels and fun on your Dream property.
And to add on to that you can use your track hoe to pull the rope thru with your wire attached to it, sure beats trying to muscle it thru. Love your videos also. Love watching jazz too.
You two are amazing! I’ve enjoyed all of your videos and learned a lot through you. You are inspiring. Jaz is so much fun too.
Thanks so much!!
I was wondering how you were able to get your rv out of all the snow we saw in the last episode to get to Arizona!
It warmed up and there were a couple weeks of time that had passed.
Thanks so much!
We enjoy your videos and look forward to them. Ignore the nay-sayers and keep doing what you love, it keeps you young and healthy. Thank you for sharing your life with us.
This was an awesome video. Thank you for sharing! Lots of good laughs from mike and I. Enjoy your vacation! 😊
Thanks so much!
Great review video. We began watching you because of your RV travels. We continue watching because of the way you face challenges, show your successes and failures, and keep humor in your presentations. Oh yea, buy a blower for next winter....
I appreciate that!
We admire you guys! It’s important to do what you want and what you enjoy when you are retired. We are enjoying watching your journey! Every channel has naysayers….just let it roll off your back and move forward.
You're the best!
Norm and Kim, we are working on our property not far from you. We are not much younger. Keep inspiring us. Our shop build starts this spring, a DIY project. Maybe, we will meet someday at the Home Depot. Lol
Hey neighbors. I think it’s very possible for us to meet there. It’s happened several times here. If you see us, Caine say hi 👋🏼
Haven’t seen any updates or new videos are you guys ok ? Miss you
Thanks. We’ve actually put out 3 videos since this one. Check ‘em out 😃
So inspiring, this was a fun video.
Jeff and I think you guys are great! Beautiful property, beautiful barndominium! Don’t listen to the keyboard warriors….keep living your dreams ❤
Thanks so much!
Wowsers! 3.1 million views!!! 🎉
I know, crazy 🤪
Many years ago when we were building our home, we were going to insulate our home ourselves. We ended up hiring a contractor to do it because the cost was very close to if we just bought the insulation and did it ourselves. Did you find the cost a lot different? Glad to see you happy!
Thanks for the insight. At this point we’re pretty committed to finishing it ourselves.
I love what you are doing and it's your life don't pay attention to the trolls. Wish we were able to do what you are doing
Thanks so much ❤️
