We prune ours back heavily as well... We do cut a little further away from the main stem (leaving a little more leaf stalk) just to keep any die back or rot away from the main stem, and so we dont dry (through bleeding) the main stalk either... But you are doing great, keep pushing... Semper Avanti... Ever Forward...
If you would like to try a personal one to us, we are of an opinion that a brussel sprout above 16" tall only requires 5 leaves... You might find that one fun to play around with... LOL
Our brussels sprouts didn't grown this year but we will try them again and I have heard things about pruning the leaves back on Brussels sprouts but never that much. Will have to try it! Thanks for the advice. I enjoy your guys videos as well.
Learning with my 1st squash plant, rescued from an empty lot:) I am wondering if the new leaf growth is healthy or not, some of the new young leaves are dark green and rather wrinkled looking, is that normal? Also when pruning, should I leave all new leaves or prune some of those as well? Thank you!
I did not realize you prune them back so much. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the tip. We will experience with that as well!

Don’t put those mildewed leaves into your compost.
J M why do u say that? If the compost pile is working correctly it kills any type of pathogens or diseases anyway.
Super Hank Outdoors It’s a big “if” for most people.
