Remove the lower leaves from the plant. This will help improve air circulation and reduce the risk of disease. also easy for the bees to pollinate .
Trim off any dead or damaged branches from the plant.
Make sure to water good and give extra food , these plants need more ..

I actually didn’t grow zucchini again because I didn’t know you could prune lower leaves like that! It was taking up so much space! Btw Im still a newbie. Thanks for the video.

Sooooo... I'm new, tried raised bed dquash and zucchini last year and all died. This year ive had TWO yellow squash fruits, a bunch of male flowers and some bore issues... nothing at all on my zucchinis, and i may have lost one to the bores! Arrrrggg... NEW RESPECT to the farmers across the world!!
I am very sorry to hear that , So you could spray BT spray or Neem max on the main stems, and on top and under the lease do not spray your fruit.. spray this in the evening time, not during when the sun is hot..

Also, I saw somewhere that it may help to "bury" the stem above the bore damage, forcing roots at THAT point and it can save the plant... is this true? I'm going to try it!

Hi Brenda so I would , definitely separate them or even just move one of them out , cuz that's three plans sharing the same nutrient soil space and water. They're going to require a lot so the best bet is to separate them. Make sure to separate in the evening time when the sun cools down, add some fertilizer , water and a light pruning by removing at least one to two lower leaves at the bottom When you separate them.. and thank you very much, I really do appreciate it 🙏🏾💯 Have a wonderful gardening Sunday 🌱

Ok... LAST question... for now... can i use comfrey leaves as fertilizer/wound care for my pruned areas?? I dont have grass clippings, and my comfrey is growing like MAD.
Yes you can , chop up the leaves and apply a small layer .. 🌱💚
I have squash and zucchini that are about 3 weeks old and i am looking to stake them so i can try the vertical method. Do i just put the stake right next to the plant? I dont want to damage the roots but dont want to have it too far where i can't reach without stretching out the plant.. Thanks!
So you do want it closer to the plant , so you could tie it as the plant grows , make sure the bottom is pointed on the stake and kinda like twist and pushing it down slowly.. it's fine the plant has a lot of roots so will be good ..

I have so many male blossoms and very few females, their taking over, it's an invasion! Should I leave all those male blossoms on there or snip them out?

What size container is ideal to grow healthy and thriving zucchini and/or squash plant?
So I use 5 gallon containers , I would say 7 gallons is the best size.. if your Prune or not is good .. these 5 gallon containers You definitely need to do a light pruning

My squash has rot on the end.
Sorry to hear , could be two things. Maybe it didn't pollinate ,you could hand Pollinate in the morning time, or maybe you just need to increase the calcium. You could always mix whole milk and water added in or add garden lime . Also add organic fertilizer. This will give it a big boost.
