Makes me think of Harvick's Fontana 2011 win. The circumstances of this one were more dramatic, but I think that race might be my #1 finish, even though it wasn't technically a "photo finish"
I think you gotta criticize Blaney for his line in 3 and 4. He was in no man’s land you gotta either commit to the bottom or the fence knowing reddick would be sending it
That's called putting on a show! Blaney could've been a prick but Hamlin would've passed them both, drivers like Gibbs and/or Dillon would've just tried to wreck anyone that tried to pass them...lol
Absolutely bummed that I missed the excitement. I’m sure it was fun to watch! Was looking forward to it today but hey, you win some, ya lose some! These are the kind of races we need on a more frequent basis!
The race that we saw at the finish between three hungry drivers was a masterclass and pure cinema. The emotional roller coaster of those closing laps off the restart... this is the NASCAR I love.
Could you imagine if Blaney or Hamlin wins at Martinsville and we get no Hendrick cars in the championship 4. Go from having all four cars into the round of 8 to having none in the championship 4. Would be crazy.
Let’s not forget, Reddick was up front on that last restart due to strategy and staying out on old tires hoping for that caution. This was a total team win for the 45! 100% was an absolute amazing race…start to finish🏁🏁🏁
I got chills when you said 100%. I told my friend right after the finish that if this race didn't get at least a 90% on the Groovy Gauge, I was gonna be upset. This race was fantastic start to finish. I will remember it for a long time for all the right reasons.

Yes absolutely, this is why I think like the Kevin Harvick Atlanta win is sooooooooooooo much better than the 3-wide photo finish. You had absolutely no idea who out of like the top 5 or so was going to win with 10 laps to go. It was absolutely phenomenal. People get so excited for the final quarter of a mile but when the last 10-15 miles are spectacular, that's when you've really got a fantastic racing product.
I told my gf the difference between that finish and a gwc is that this finish is real and not fabricated like a gwc. The person that deserved to win at race distance won. No taking a win away from Busch at Daytona. No taking a win away from Klingerman at the roval. This was a real, legit at distance win and that’s what real race fans want
That last lap pass was a classic "checkers or wreckers" moment. If he holds it, he wins. If he gets loose, he is getting towed to the garage. Finally, a no overtime, no drama finish
Man. That hurt. I was there in person, and I’m a HUGE Denny fan. Every race I’ve gone to, he’s either crashed out or had issues. I thought today was gonna be the day on the final restart. Boy was I wrong. That was likely the worst heartbreak I’ve ever experienced those final two laps. I looked like an NBA player who just lost a game 7 on a buzzer beater after. Happy Tyler win but man this one will haunt me for a while, especially if Hamlin misses the championship 4
I get wanting this track to be the finale. But how cool was it to see 7 of the 8 Championship competitors battling out all day long? This track is perfect where it’s at and it’s unfortunate that it’s being replaced with Talladega next season.
This was easily the best race of the next gen era. Lots of passing, lots of strategies, no huge wrecks for no reason, drivers sending it in for a championship spot (Larson), and a fantastic final 7 laps with no overtime!
Crazy thing on the 7… In the last 6 races, Corey Lajoie in 51 has had more top 20s than Haley in the 7... That stat should eventually flip in favor of Haley considering Spire has way more funding that RWR But maybe the 7 is really cursed, Maybe it’s just the car😂
I don't even know if they were a lap old, so they hadn't even gotten to temperature, which we know is the main thing with these tires compared to the old ones. Blaney totally gave him the top, which was ill advised, especially since everyone knows Reddick is gonna want the top.
We can thank Kyle Larsen for being Kyle Larsen for setting up this incredible finish. As far as I'm concerned we just witnessed the best non-Championship - Championship that we could have asked for. Oh, and Kyle, you had it in your hands bud.
@@FiveStones1Sling He's a generational talent for sure. But sometimes I just don't know. He had 11 more laps to get around Blaney and I know he would have. Just show a little patience next time would ya.
Excellent commentary Eric, I’m not a Toyota fan but I like Tyler Reddick and the heart he puts into his racecraft. How did he make that thing stick?!!!!
He attacked 1&2 hard. Ryan ran the middle and stayed. Ryan ran the middle again thinking it would be the same result. Drove in hard and well, it wasn't enough. Tyler went to the top for his famous wall run and shot by. Love the ending, love the set up. Really really good race
Apparently ford needs a lesson for its drivers on how to not leave the outside lane open to individuals who rip boards. Second last corner outside failure by a ford driver.
I can’t wait to from this, an amazing race and definitely one of the best. To next gen at martinsville, likely gonna be a snooze fest. Sums up the next gen I would say.
I think Blaney thought the move was to air block Reddick. Just didn’t work out. He pulled off Martinsville last year, maybe he can do it again. Heartbreaker for sure.
Ironically, I rewatched the final 11 laps of the 2013 Auto Club finish earlier today, which also saw a driver go from 3rd to 1st on the final lap. Foreshadowing.......
I went to Homestead for the first time this weekend and that was fantastic racing. My home track used to be Auto Club (RIP 2 mile) and damn Homestead reminds me so much of it. And I agree, easily a Top 10 race and finish I have witnessed ever. And it was pure, clean, no overtime!
No overtime, no wreckfest, just pure racing. This is what I love about NASCAR.
Same here.
This is where NASCAR should have the final race, no question.

@@davidreitsmajr1140ford already has back to back championships it’s time for Toyota or Chevy to win!
This was a great finish, I think Eric is a bit of a Reddick fan!😂
This was easily the best race of the next gen era. Lots of passing, lots of strategies, no huge wrecks for no reason, drivers sending it in for a championship spot (Larson), and a fantastic final 7 laps with no overtime!
Awesome race, even better recap! Thanks Eric!
I liked the bee swarm where the spotters were.
I dont know if there was a bee hive next to the spotter seats but that looked scary
Good for Tyler he deserves to be in final four
I was excited to hear your review today, that was a great race!
Crazy thing on the 7…
In the last 6 races, Corey Lajoie in 51 has had more top 20s than Haley in the 7...
That stat should eventually flip in favor of Haley considering Spire has way more funding that RWR
But maybe the 7 is really cursed,
Maybe it’s just the car😂
Well, Haley beat LaJoie today! 34th vs. 35th. Yay!
No way, change the number not the driver
Reddick sticking that move after restarting on scuffs was fckn amazing
I don't even know if they were a lap old, so they hadn't even gotten to temperature, which we know is the main thing with these tires compared to the old ones. Blaney totally gave him the top, which was ill advised, especially since everyone knows Reddick is gonna want the top.
what an incredible race, homestead pulls away as my favorite track
As a Blaney fan, I feel nothing but pain
Ryan Blaney has won at Martinsville before if that means anything.
@@bighand1530yeah but I felt like this one was taken from me😂
@@isaacm209 Fair enough.
I’m a Larson fan but still felt awful for Blaney.
@@matthewjohnston1400 I felt bad for Larson too. Was just a racing incident unfortunately
Even if Denny doesn’t go to the final four he’s going to the final four
We can thank Kyle Larsen for being Kyle Larsen for setting up this incredible finish. As far as I'm concerned we just witnessed the best non-Championship - Championship that we could have asked for. Oh, and Kyle, you had it in your hands bud.
Kyle continues to be his own worst enemy sometimes. But man from coming to 35th to that was awesome to watch.
@@FiveStones1Sling He's a generational talent for sure. But sometimes I just don't know. He had 11 more laps to get around Blaney and I know he would have. Just show a little patience next time would ya.
Homestead 3 never fails. No matter what gen car.
Excellent commentary Eric, I’m not a Toyota fan but I like Tyler Reddick and the heart he puts into his racecraft. How did he make that thing stick?!!!!
"I'm still speechless!" - Evidently not! LOL! 😂
He attacked 1&2 hard. Ryan ran the middle and stayed. Ryan ran the middle again thinking it would be the same result. Drove in hard and well, it wasn't enough. Tyler went to the top for his famous wall run and shot by. Love the ending, love the set up. Really really good race
Best race of the year Eric I love it ❤💯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I swear i heard the superman theme when i saw reddick on the high line
Amazing race today. Proves why it should be the championship race, and maybe get a spring race weekend as well.
Richard Childress has gotta regret not giving Reddick a multi-year contract.
He’s too worried about that pinhead grandson of his …
Reddick better than Kyle Busch?
@@kg0173 Obviously.
Apparently ford needs a lesson for its drivers on how to not leave the outside lane open to individuals who rip boards. Second last corner outside failure by a ford driver.
Best race of the year calling it now
I can’t wait to from this, an amazing race and definitely one of the best. To next gen at martinsville, likely gonna be a snooze fest. Sums up the next gen I would say.
Martinsville is always a snooze fest, no matter the generation.
This was one of the best races I have ever seen.
I think Blaney thought the move was to air block Reddick. Just didn’t work out. He pulled off Martinsville last year, maybe he can do it again. Heartbreaker for sure.
Legendary finish. The best of the playoff era.
Live in crntral florida and decided to drive down on a whim after i got called out of work. EPIC!!!!! I would of been so mad if i decided not to.
Ironically, I rewatched the final 11 laps of the 2013 Auto Club finish earlier today, which also saw a driver go from 3rd to 1st on the final lap. Foreshadowing.......
Reminds me of Bristol dirt.
I bet this’ll be so great to watch again whenever the next season of the Full Speed Netflix show comes out!
WE 👏 NEED 👏 HOMESTEAD 👏 FINALE
Besides larson below the cut line it was a great race one of the best races this year if not the best in my opinion
Imagine if this was the playoff race, that last lap for the championship. Thatd be awesome. Its a shame phoenix sucks
How many 100% have been given this year 3-4 races 2024 has produce greatness
“Kid drove his arse off” couldn’t be said any better!!!
Awesome last two laps 💯
If this race doesn’t prove to nascar homestead needs to be the finale, idk what will….
