installing Boost Auto 4th gen tow mirrors on 3rd gen

- Today we finally started getting into installing some more parts on Don's megacab. We got a set of 4th gen tow mirrors from Boost Auto and they were such a breeze to install I am hooked on these mirrirs now. The install was very simple and straight forward and since we were adding the marker lights that are on the 4th gen mirrors there was one additional wire to hook up but even that was fairly straight forward. I hope you guys enjoy these videos as much as I enjoy making them and we will see you guys on the next one.

Thanks for the how to video. I just got some 4th gen mirrors for mine. My question is if I wire it like you have demonstrated will the puddle lights stay on as well?
The ones we installed don't have the puddle lights in them but you could simply just tie into one of the lights under the dash so they are all on the same circuit.
do you know if the regular 4th gen mirrors are a direct fit to a 3rd gen?
As far as I know they will not work because the mount is sized different

They are iron cross automotive steps
Do they only work as marker lights or turn signals as well?
You can get them a few different ways, on these they are only marker lights but they can be both if you get that option when you order them.

I wanna buy some of these for the clearance lights, the previous owner installed cheap 4th gens without the lights and it bothers me

They are actually pretty good, they don't vibrate like the cheap ones, they truly are factory quality

Honestly I would head over to www.boostautoparts.com and pick up a set from them. They have a bunch of different options so you can spec them to your liking, the quality is top notch as well.
They are way better but i think I’m gonna go with the Chevy mirrors. Aka that blue six7

We got them from www.boostautoparts.com and they build them to be a direct bolt on so you really don't have to modify anything unless you are adding features like we did on his with the clearance lights. I couldn't give you a price though because it really depends on what you are looking for.
Where did you connect the other two?
Other then the factory plug in there is only one extra wire and that is going to be your marker light wire for the mirror
How is the quality of the chrome? I had some plasti-chrome cap covers on my non-tow mirrors. the amazon plasti-chrome only lasted about 4 years. now they look like crap...
OEM plasti-chrome seems to do better.... these arent OEM....
Stone chips are the issue I think... maybe get them 3m clear wrapped for protection..?
So far they have been holding up great, but it hasn't been too long either so I'm really not sure yet but I do know that they seem to be a really high quality product

These are just the 1.0s I believe

I honestly don't, I haven't really had my hands on a 4th gen yet but it would definitely look pretty good

That truck only has them wired in as marker lights but there may or may not be plans for another set in the future. 🤔

Where did you ground them at ?
They ran the ground through the factory harness so all you have to do is find your power
@@Cargill450 I’m guessing I got different ones because there are two coming form each mirror I’ll just ground it to the cab
Did you go with just markers or did you do signals
What wheels and tires? With the specs love the set up
The wheel is a 22x12 Arkon Triumph and the tire is a 37x13.5 Radar renegade.
I have an 06 5.9 Cummins will I tap into the same wire in the headlight switch
The best I could tell you is it should, as long as the wire colors and everything look the same I would say yes.
I'll be wiring them this weekend will try to remember to post back with results thanks

One more question there is two orange. With black tracer wires in headlight switch I'm going to test them obviously before I tap into one I believe the other one is for the dimmer I believe you said it was the second thing at the top row
@aaaclay1313 yes so I have a video installing gauges and I tapped into that too dimmer wire. You are right I’m pretty sure it was on the top row.
Look how damn far those things stick out? lol watch out for those two giant obstacles sticking out the sides of your truck 😂. The factory tow mirrors are only 17” these are like 19” folded. Lol
They are the same dimensions as the factory mirrors

these ones do not but you can get that as an option when you order them, we just didnt go with the option on these mirrors.
Your killin me smalls! You always skip the hardest parts of the install in your vid’s! How did you run the wires through the door boot Ana how the heck do you get the boots apart?!
I'm sorry man I thought I had that in the video. Use stiff wire to guide the wire through the boots. I will go back and see if I have anything from that install that might help you.
I tapped into the same spot and they don’t turn off. I have no freaking idea why! They flicker
They don’t turn off even when the truck is shut down? You might have to go back and triple check the wires with a test light because you truck could very well be different for some reason.
What is the Brand of lights with marker and blinker light and what is the Cost of these ?? Please let us know as we all will appreciate this information !!!!! THANK YOU !!!!!!
Are you talking about the markers and blinkers in the mirrors, they are boost auto, not sure of the cost but their website is super easy to navigate, the link should be in the video description
