- Nov 6, 2021 - This video documents my fall ride from Promontory Point to 71st Street along the south end of the Lakefront Trail. This part of the Lakefront Trail has a nice intimate feel and is usually pretty quiet regardless of the time of year. The majority of the ride runs along Jackson Park and ends in the South Shore neighborhood. 71st Street is the southern terminus of the Lakefront Trail, but the fun doesn't stop there. It connects directly to a series of on-street cycle lanes, parks, and greenways that will take you well into Indiana.

I finally did a complete LFT ride north to south and back this year. It was my first time being south of Navy Pier. Great ride.
I would love to watch virtual ride footage continuing south of 71st Street along the Lake front. I have ridden as far south as Lansing, IL several times, but moved away years ago.
Insane how Chicago bisects it's waterfront with a 6 lane highway. That's the most valuable part of the city and it's a giveaway to motorists.
It really tarnishes the otherwise amazing lakefront Chicago has. Sadly I don’t think it will ever change.
@@chicagobybike Many old highways are reaching the end of their life. Form a group and fight it's "rebuild" and say you want to replace it for a linear park.
Its still way better than the cities that just put condos on their shore and make the shore PRIVATE only to the people that live there. I'll take Lake Shore Drive and the Parks anyday over condos and concrete
I love Lake shore Drive. Scenic drive. Both drivers and walkers, joggers, cyclists, beach goers all can enjoy the lakefront
