      We are fans of exploring so we will be doing many more rides to see where else we can go from the Lakefront Trail with our Ebikes. Stay tuned for updates on this trail that include rides to places like Lincoln Park Zoo, Wrigley Field & 63rd Street Beach.

      I know it's an old video but if you care to read, I have a few notes:
      There is an accessible ramp on the north side of Buckingham fountain, and probably some others.
      Lyft only has e bikes because they (unfortunately) bought Chicago's local bike share company: Divvy Bikes.
      You should generally lock your bikes up at Navy Pier, there's high security and I've locked my bike there and never had issues with anyone stealing anything. Sometimes it's really crowded so it makes sense.

      In later rides we found the ramps on the North and South sides of the fountain. Oh ok, I didn’t know Lyft bought Divvy. We won’t lock our bikes on Navy Pier… because I make videos, I usually have camera stuff with me… I can’t let that out of my sight. We can ride on the North side of the pier and don’t have any issues walking our bikes while on the South side of the pier. Thanks for watching! Be sure to check out my Sculpture Ride and my Pub Crawl ride, both on the Lakefront Trail. I also created a Revetment Ride last year… that video is up as well.

    Yes, that bike shop is the middle marker for those need repairs and if you go up north ave beach they have a small bike repair in the boat.

    There’s a boulevard system in Chicago you should try. It’s not exactly a trail but it’s a really nice system of bike-friendly roads and lanes starting from the northwest side to the South Side near Stony Island Avenue

      Great suggestion! I’ve heard of it, in fact I’ve watched the Geoffrey Baer documentary on it…. ua-cam.com/video/iul9fMFH66w/v-deo.html Do you have a route for a ride? AllTrails link or similar?

    For anyone doing this and looking for more stops, I strongly recommend exploring Jackson Park, Lincoln Park, and Montrose Point. Those along with Museum Campus/Northly Island are the best parks on the lake in my opinion. At the southern end of the Northerly Island trail is a great hill that you may have missed as well--some of the all time best views of the city!

      We rode the North Branch Trail yesterday… video should be ready by next Monday. The other 2 are on the list of trails to ride. I also want to ride the 606 but I need to figure out where the best place to park is.

    Did this trail on Sunday and started at Foster Beach heading all the way down to 71st. I got turned around like you did, but I was able to recover after using Google Maps in Bicycle directions heading southward towards 71st. I literally made it all the way down to the end and my tire popped and went completely flat. Luckily, I had AAA and they cover bicycles and a tow truck driver showed up, loaded my bike onto the wrecker to drive it all the way through Chicago back to foster beach. Life Saver! My bike is at Main Street Bicycles getting two new tubes put in just shortly after I got 1K on the bike.

      Ugh on the tire! Wow that would suck! I had no idea AAA covered bicycles, interesting! Main Street Bicycles is a good choice!

      Btw, I created a custom AllTrails map of just the bike portion of the Chicago Lakefront Trail, so you can navigate using AllTrails... www.alltrails.com/explore/map/chicago-lakefront-trail-v3-7bad3bd

    Hello Fellow Chicagoan, like to use my 2 week old ebike more and great videos - what app is that ? and do you have group meet ups?

    • @Cynical_Zombie
      @Cynical_Zombie  Рік тому

      Hello! There are a TON of trails in the area to explore! I use AllTrails to save maps and follow when I’m on a trail. I haven’t done any group meetups but as the channel grows that’s something that will eventually happen!

    I want to try to connect to points south, where they have built a new section of Lake Shore Drive. Also new bike stuff in the Lake Calumet area.

    the app tracking you do you just screen record of the tracking as it looks cool, i use relive to create stories in the app of adventure.

    • @Cynical_Zombie
      @Cynical_Zombie  Рік тому

      If I’m understand correctly, you’re asking about the telemetry I put on the screen? I use an app called Telemetry Overlay for that. It uses the GPS built into the GoPro and I can create a custom overlay from that data. If you’re asking about the app on the phone, that’s AllTrails. I also use TrailLink for trail research and an alternate map source.

    Seems like they could use a bit better signage to indicate the trail. But looks like a beautiful ride. Looked pretty busy around Navy Pier and the downtown. Did you do this during a weekday or weekend? Great to see that you don't have to worry about traffic crossing. I'll have to give this a go at some point. Would probably stop at Navy Pier or some place to grab a bite and beer... Need your assessment of that. :) Boy, they really don't want any planes landing at Meig's Field anymore... I also like that you still call it the Sears Tower. I do as well. Do the trail maps indicate whether it's only for hiking or bikes? If it's showing a hiking trail, I can see it being valid.

    • @Cynical_Zombie
      @Cynical_Zombie  Рік тому +1

      Yes, signage could be better, which is why I created an AllTrails map to follow for the bicycle portion of the trail. I think both rides were on weekdays. When in Navy Pier stop at Margaritaville and get an Uptown Top Shelf Margarita, yummy! I see no distinction as to hiking only or multi use. I usually rely on signage if they want to restrict a trail to hiking only. Based on what I've seen in some older pics, it used to go all the way around on Northerly Island but it must have been damaged, my guess would be harsh winters and they've never fixed it. It will always be Sears Tower to me, just like the John Hancock Building and Comiskey Park, I'm too old to change now lol

      When I want to ride the entire trail, I will park at Foster Beach. otherwise we will park at a parking lot by Adler planetarium because you can park there for $12 if you get there before 9:30 AM, and park there till midnight. it’s actually cheaper to park at the planetarium for us than it is to park at Foster Beach.

      It's over 50 miles away from me so I don't have casual access to the trail. That said, if I can find a day in the 50's, I'd ride it for sure!

      The trail is pretty accessible in the winter They plow it pretty quickly. The part that can be inaccessible due to ice/wind/waves is the area between Ohio Street Beach and Oak Street Beach
