Started a conversation with a stranger while looking at fishing lures. He said he just started fishing a couple of years ago and learned mostly from watching UA-cam. I immediately showed him your channel, DEBO. Thanks for continuously pumping out quality content!
Debo, 99% agree with your top 5 but I have to put the Jackhammer in as it's been my go to for several years. You continue to put out quality videos for us weekenders and we do appreciate you.
Debo you truly are one of the most underrated fishermen on UA-cam your knowledge and tips are hands down my favourite. Keep up the great content as always 🎣
Love the videos from you like this. Not all top name brand baits that can break the bank. I always look forward to your videos, as you keep it real. The Senko is always my fall back bait. It gets the job done. Thanks for taking the time to create this video. I look forward to future ones from you.
Thanks for the quick summary on good baits for spring. I ran out to the pond in South-Central Iowa with my trusty chartreuse Jackhammer Chatterbait this past weekend and caught my first bass of the year. The kids were grabbing them left and right on small Strike King Minnow and some simple hooks with purple two-inch long fluke looking plastics. Best news is that simple or complex, feeshin’ can be fun! Happy Spring Feeshin’ Friends!
Oooo Debo, you nailed them. Thanks for the tips. Definitely going to share with son so he can lighten my back pack! He like throwing the super rooster tail! Thanks!
Always great info, Debo! Always great presentations for us newbs! I like all your lure choices here; they’re perfect. Also gotta love me a Ned rig…hard to not catch ‘‘em on that! Please keep up the great work!
Hey Debo! Love your show... and have learned a lot as a new bass angler (former trout/salmon fisher) :-). I have been fishing all winter and can attest to the megabass 110 +1. From Jan 1 thru today... have bagged 49 bass. 21 of those all on the megabass jerkbait... and also my PB for this year (5lber). So complete confidence bait and agree with your other suggestions as well, as I consistently catch quality bass on spinnerbaits. Dom't underestimate the lowly curly tail grub... I aways can catch a handful on 2-3" white, green pumpkin or reddish curly tails on open hook jigs. Have a good one and keep up the awesome videos!
For the clear shallower ponds I fish, I’d switch the spinnerbait to a mini max chatterbait and the jerkbait to a lipless. I’ve been slaying pre-spawners and now fish on beds on a wacky rig. I’ve mostly used that Missile baits 48 ( thanks to your recommendation a few years ago). I’ve also been throwing the Xzone true center stick and those Grande bass ring fry worms to change it up a bit. I’ve also had a lot of success throwing a popper over their beds.
The spinner bait is interchangeable for me with a swim jig and chatter bait for spring. Just depends on how much grass is around or how active the fish are but I’m digging your 5 selections
Yep. I needed this. Why is it I forget once am on the water? I swear I need y’all in my head telling me constantly no not that one and ok there’s a good spot lol. Thanks Debo!!!!
Great selection! Around Spring, the Strike King crankbait delta red, Berkeley pit boss and the Zoom 4 inch finesse watermelon magic on a wacky rigg weightless in a spinning reel are my favorites for this time of year. Definitely looking to catch my first Spinner/Chatterbait bait fish this year (I know, I'm late). Nonetheless, enjoyed the content. Good luck this year!! Peace ✌. - Mark 2
I'm a nomad and have the opportunity to fish all over the country in all kinds of different waterways. Being from texas i always slayed with a worm but now after fishing everywhere I always start fishing with one thing. A plastic swim bait. It works everywhere. Up north, down south, hot, cold, it doesn't matter. I've probably caught more fish on a simple plastic swim bait than all other lures combined
Good picks Debo. I'm definitely throwing a jerk bait, a small swim bait, and a stick worm right now. Have had success on all three. Thanks for the viDebo man. ✌️😎🎣
I thought that was a great video. I really thought your tips were right on the money, exactly what to do and what rod reel and lines to use. Thanks 👍 🎣 🇺🇸
We've had an early spring here in Central Texas and the submerged grasses are blooming like crazy, so last weekend, I just couldn't get a lipless or jig/chatterbait to work well.. However the six inch Tokyo Rig mod worked exceptionally well with a sweet beaver. Caught my pb on it (so far). The whacky rig with yum dingers slayed them though. The grasses will subside in about a month, so I'm looking forward to that.. Debo, the Smithwick floating jerkbait you recommended caught me a two good sized hybrids as well. I'll send you a couple of those six inch Tokyo rigs mods for you to try out. Tight lines man. Hope your weather breaks soon for you.
I keep seeing the same misconception about jigs, spinnerbaits and things with lighter wire hooks in those categories. It's not over powering with a medium heavy fast rod and 15 to 20lb line, it's the reel settings are to tight. A good setting with the drag system will allow those all to be used on the same rod/reel setup. Don't over power the fish with strength and tight drag allow the fish to pull drag and work them down till they are worn down so it's easier to net or lip them maybe even boat flip lol. One bait I've seen so far I think a medium rod or mh moderate is needed is the jerkbait. All the others I've fished with a mh fast with correct drag settings with great success over the years. I believe we have very similar spring lure selection though lol
I got some lures and baits on sale for Christmas and heard it from my woman and mother. I just got a few other techniques left! 😂 Why they hating! Im new to this.
You know it's spring feeshin time. When this is the 3rd top 5 spring lures video in one day. 😅😅😅 I'll fish a jerkbait next time and some finesse worms. Thanks for putting together this video
Bass are nice and out of season until late june in my part on Ontario but spinnerbait before pike season closes until may always gets em. Really gotta stop saying it and put the time in with jigs this year. Great video Debo, surprised no red lipless though!
I rarely, if ever, throw a spinnerbait without some sort of trailer. Most of the time I'll use a Burke Split-Tail Eel or a curly tailed grub.Grub. As far as jerkbaits go, I've always had luck with the Bill Lewis Rat-L Stik.
On overcast days and dirtier water I like a gold blade alot better than a silver I prefer chatteuse over white personally everything else I agree sometimes I put a keitech fat impact on it though
Yo Brother! Great vidjya as always, but surprised that there wasn’t any red crankbaits in your list. No worries- I’ve been skunked everytime I’ve been out this year, so what do I know?!😂 PS: I met a father at our recent Scout meeting who was having trouble with dialing in baitcasters and said, “Go straight to DEBOs fishing channel, he taught me everything I know.” Thanks for all you do brother!
Not that I know. does a ned rig or shakey head do okay around this time? They're new techniques I've been practicing. But I might be getting inaccurate results if it's the wrong time.
Another great video my friend and Intel for me a Novice Bass Angler. I do have a question though, sale on the LFS and the Revo X which is a better Reel.? They look the same internally with 5 magnets and I have an LFS I picked up for half off. I also asked Jim about a Medium Light Casting Rod today actually lol I’ve never used one and was searching for Intel thank you.
Thanks! I just went through my Plano box making sure I had some of everything you mentioned. One thing in my Plano that you didn't mention is a crank bait with a tight wobble, like a Frittside. Others suggest that specific bait. Just curious about your thought process for not including it. Too early in Iowa for it right now?
I love your channel my fishing friend, and it is always nice to have the skills and confidence to fish a wide variety of Lures... But My Five Best Fishing Lures for Any Where, Any time, are STICK WORM, STICK WORM, STICK WORM, STICK WORM, & STICK WORM.... If you know a dozen ways to rig a stick worm,,,, you don't know the half of it....
War Eagle is my go-to spinnerbaits. For jigs, I prefer "#DrifterJigs" hand tied in Northern Alabama. Thirdly, keitech is definitely my big smallie smasher, so many colors and the scent they add worth the money the under spins still haven't really been beneficial in the creeks yet but still hoping for a hang to smash it. Jerk baits my go-to brand has been the KVD series by Strike King. It's a great versatile lure. Senkos, I use several brands so many good companies out there. Great upload Debo
I have to say, really surprised a lipless didn't make your 5. It's literally all I've been using since ice out. I'm only 1 state to the east. So the conditions are very close.
hey debo, what rod would you recommend for multi bladed spinnerbaits? i was thinking a 7ft medium heavy, should i got to a heavy? or will a medium heavy be fine?
Started a conversation with a stranger while looking at fishing lures. He said he just started fishing a couple of years ago and learned mostly from watching UA-cam. I immediately showed him your channel, DEBO. Thanks for continuously pumping out quality content!
that's awesome of you!
Have you heard of FullTimeFishing? He's pretty good as well!
I agree with this. I tell all my fishing buddies here in WI about his channel.
Thanks again for another solid break down of your top 5 lures. I am confident in 4 of the 5 you suggested. I need to do some more jerk bait fishing.
Love the videos from you like this. Not all top name brand baits that can break the bank. I always look forward to your videos, as you keep it real. The Senko is always my fall back bait. It gets the job done. Thanks for taking the time to create this video. I look forward to future ones from you.
You make the greatest
, user friendly videos. Always have something to take away from DebosFishing!

Solid choices to start the hunt for the start of the year!! Good stuff as always, thoroughly presented!
Can’t wait until we actually get spring weather up here and more Debo fishing videos!!! Love the vids and keep up the great work!
Springtime, the Senko/stickbait is my go-to!!
Oooo Debo, you nailed them. Thanks for the tips. Definitely going to share with son so he can lighten my back pack! He like throwing the super rooster tail! Thanks!
Great content as always. I love how you talk about the rod/reel/line for every lure. Super helpful when I’m looking to try something new.
Always great info, Debo! Always great presentations for us newbs! I like all your lure choices here; they’re perfect. Also gotta love me a Ned rig…hard to not catch ‘‘em on that! Please keep up the great work!
Always so helpful getting the right lures with the right set ups. Thanks Debo.
Let's go debo. Love your videos. I love throwing wacky worm. It always does good for me here in tx
These are my favorite videos you do.I like to here what works for you so I can maybe try the same things.Look forward to getting out next week
Matt Stefan mentioned using a trailer on a Spinner lure to help the Fish suck the Lure in with the added bulk...which made sense to me..
Debo you definitely left one out.....the fluke is definitely a great spring time lure!!!!!
DEBO, I totally agree with what you picked out, the only other one I would throw is the mix is the zoom fluke, white 5 1/4 inch. Is my go to.
Great list really enjoyed it but you forgot the most important Laura for spring fishing the drop shot!
Love these types of vids as a newer angler. Thanks Debo!
Your kayak still floats. Good to hear it.
Excellent selections Debo really enjoy the content! Have learned alot from you appreciate all the info!
Love your 5 Debo. Look forward to the 2023 season with your channel!

I thought that was a great video. I really thought your tips were right on the money, exactly what to do and what rod reel and lines to use. Thanks 👍 🎣 🇺🇸
I have been really enjoying ribbon tail worms the last few weeks, doing the trick out here
good choices, chatter bait is one of my main spring lures as well
Still trying to pick up my first dink of the year but these are definitely the lures I’m throwing. As always thanks for the great advice.
I think you covered the top lures for spring. Wacky is really good here on the coast of Virginia. Great video as always Debo!

Awesome and informative video Debo👍🏼. Thank you
Great information Debo. Looking forward to when the water warms up!
love the jerkbait! the 6th sense provoke is the lure that got me into their stuff and one of my all time confidence lures!
Great video very well informed I like throwing big swimbaits as well during the spring!
Always enjoy watching! Thanks for the content!!
The pocket rocket is one of my favs, sooo underrated. Nichols spinner baits are preferred over the others but overall solid picks.
Spring!!! Here we go!
Hey what’s up Debo! I just wanted to know if you got hacked? You reached out to me and I wanted to know if it was legit?
Yo Debo!! I believe you have an active scam on your account! Did you send a giveaway kayak?
Great video as always! As a beginner bank angler this information is so valuable! Thank you.
Hey Debo, good stuff! Can’t argue with those.👊
As always great info from you DEBO!! Thanks for sharing!
Love these videos Debo I am surprised that chatterbait or the lipless was not on there but those are just as good in the spring.
Yep, yep, yep, yep, and yep. This is def of year where I switch from NED / shaky to weightless worms. Can’t be beat

I wouldn't say you left anything out, but a good ol Texas rig with a stick bait or a craw, I like a swimming craw specifically.
This will be the 1st top 5 spring vids I watch
Tactical bassin beat old debo
@@tims_always_fishing7117 think they usually do but I haven't watched any of them yet
A soft plastic jerkbait (da fluke)works well this time of year, and is far less heartbreaking to lose in snaggy ponds than a hard jerkbait.
Spinnerbait is my favorite but the other 4 work awesome also
Thanks for the tips Debo .
I also like a twister tail with a jig head in white or pumpkin.
I always forget what to throw in spring. I must always come to DEBO for advice
Excellent choices, if I were to add anything, it would be a Lipless Crankbait, and a Squarebill
Banger, after Banger, after Banger!
I got some lures and baits on sale for Christmas and heard it from my woman and mother. I just got a few other techniques left! 😂 Why they hating! Im new to this.
Good job Debo
Lipless crankbait is amazing in ny in the spring at least in my area
Jerkbaits are my go to, caught every pb one them , from musky to bass
Love watching your videos and you always always reply your 100% real much much respect😎😎😎
I been catching all of my fish here lately on 6th Sense Slice blade bait and their Provoke jerk bait.
Great info Debo Thanks
always love the videos
Cracking video Debo 👍👍👍.
Nigel (Chicago)
You know it's spring feeshin time. When this is the 3rd top 5 spring lures video in one day. 😅😅😅 I'll fish a jerkbait next time and some finesse worms. Thanks for putting together this video
Bladed jig you left out that's my favorite
Great video man keep up the good work
Bass are nice and out of season until late june in my part on Ontario but spinnerbait before pike season closes until may always gets em. Really gotta stop saying it and put the time in with jigs this year. Great video Debo, surprised no red lipless though!
Stopping in to check out the video, but also impressed that there’s already 44 views in 4 minutes! 🎉😊

Another? Great. Gear video? Brother. You ever gonna do any more BFs fishing? I've pretty much replaced my spinning rod with BFS.
When are the YUM hellgrammites coming out? Really would like to get them!! Love the videos!! 👍👍
Yo Brother! Great vidjya as always, but surprised that there wasn’t any red crankbaits in your list. No worries- I’ve been skunked everytime I’ve been out this year, so what do I know?!😂

I'm thinking about buying some of those new berkley spinnerbaits though
Debo, where do you get that skirt material from? I want to fix up a bunch of found lures!
Your bait choice was ace! Nick Richardson.
Love my scorpion dc, put it on a poison adrena.

You ever try the Shimano Zodias? $200 ish. I picked one up in a local shop today and it’s crazy light for its price. Curious about it. Good reviews.
great video ! I think you nailed it
Debo, can you notice a difference with the shorter handles on JDM reels?
It's looking like early may before ice will be gone and opener isn't until mothers day weekend anyway sadly
Debo try make video top 10 soft plastic bait only that you like to go fishing😎
War Eagle is my go-to spinnerbaits. For jigs, I prefer "#DrifterJigs" hand tied in Northern Alabama.
