Saddest part is that this show will never get the love and respect that it rightfully deserves. It beat SNL all to hell and was a hit with a few buddies I grew up with.
They literally had to bring Michael Jackson to save the Super Bowl cause people were watching In living color instead what are your a talking about it was and is still iconic !
Yeah the show was packed with talent but thanks for bringing up the only white guy though! How about Jamie Foxx, all of the Wayans family, honestly probably the funniest guy on ILC Tommy Davidson, David Allan Greer as well as JLo, for the most part put or at least helped put Rosie Perez out there! But it’s ok.
The late 80s/early 90s were AWESOME for sketch comedy. You had "In Living Color", "Mad TV", "Kids in the Hall", and "SNL" hit a resurgence around that time, too! What a good time to be alive!
Was Great only TV I saw back then, went home for a visit and found out friend I played football with was a hit radio jockey on Northern Exposure. Great guy was happy for him, funny as hell to boot.
Every comedian on this show went into movies and other successful ventures. David Allen Grier is one of the most underrated comedians today, however, the Wayans brothers saw his talent and he was one of the funniest on this show right along with Damon, Jim, and Jaime. To be able to hold your own with that bunch says a lot about your talent
No doubt. In Living Color would't even get out of the proposal phase now and yet it was so far ahead of its time as to be out of sight of the competitors.
"Dated by today's standards"? It was hilarious, not the PC crap you get on SNL now. And the actors were all friends, as well. They weren't trying to push some political agenda. It was TRULY funny.
Born in 1958, SNL was the SHOW. When I first saw ILC, it was c,ear we had a NEW SHOW....the bar was raised to a level in my view that will never be duplicated. Without exception, the greatest talent pool, including the fly girl troope and music to date in the industry. Grateful, much love, thanks for sharing. Great channel, ❤

The Jheri Curl is like the Mullet. Tommy was SO funny and what a good sport. In a bloopers video I just watched, they confessed that Tommy always got the worst of it.
Homey D. Clown was the biggest highlight for Damon Wayans during the days of In Living Color. But his catchphrase truly lives on. "Homey don't play that."
I absolutely loved In Living Color. Fire Marshall Bill is my favorite character. Also, Jim Carrey's impersonation of Vanilla Ice is so convincing, I couldn't tell whether or not he was the real thing.
'In Living Colour' was a 90s incubator for the next 20 years of major league comedic talent. Much like SNL was the same in the 70s and 80s. It was must-watch TV in the early 90s and the Wayans held the angle on 'comedy' at the time. The show will live in TV history as does SCTV, SNL and the Carol Burnett Show.
Yes! Handi-Man was awesome! One of the top 10 sketch characters for sure. Crazy hijinks, cool inventions to fight crime, and endearing with a can-do attitude! 😊

Jaime Fox as Wanda, David Allen Grier and Damon Wayans being critics, Tommy Davidson was hilarious. My kids watched it with me and we laughed so hard every week. This was when Fox would air whatever they could get to compete with the three big networks back then. I loved this show
So many good ones that are missing from this list too... Vera De Milo, Funky Finger productions, the Snackin Shack diner, Ceephus and Reesie, Lashawn, The Dysfunctional home show
I never realized how many In Living Color sketches could NEVER be played today. I just thought they were funny as Hell! It helps to have a sense of humor. 😂

@slactweak Agreed. However Kids In The Hall falls into the same boat and they came back. I’m sure it’s doable. I’d imagine $ and egos would make it more difficult given the star power involved.

I was 7 when I first saw it and immediately that goofy guy “James” Carrey(as he was known then) sold it for me. Damon’s characters stood out too, but yea took until my teenage years to get most of the other skits.
I had a crush on Jim Carey when I was a girl in the 90s and use to run straight to the TV as soon as I got home from school so I could watch him on In Living Color. The fact that he had such a successful career after ILC and is the most talked about actor on this list says a lot about him and his comedic talent
