  • Back in July whilst on our second holiday to Wales The gang and I paid a visit to the Talyllyn Railway for the second time and I was delighted when our loco arrived for it was Corris/Talyllyn Railway No.3 'Sir Haydn' which was named after the former owner of the railway. It was a wonderful journey up witnessing the beautiful scenery of the valley and seeing all the locos around the TR, No.1 'Talyllyn' (then in the paint shops), No.9 'Alf', newly repaint No.4 'Edward Thomas' and both No.11 'Trecwn' & No.12 ''St Cadfan'. The other operational loco in service was No.7 'Tom Rolt'. Whilst at Abergynolwyn for our tea break I met Veronica Chambers daughter of the late Reverend Wilbert Awdry (1911 - 1997) I had a little chat with her before departing for home.
