"As long as Barry had a Corvette in the driveway and a pretty girl on his arm, Barry was content. He never cared whether he was on top or not." - Arn Anderson
Wish they put a good gimmick on him, gave him a manager, and used him sparingly forever. He was so good - he could have been best ever and had a very long career.
In 1991 there was not one wrestler on the planet cooler than Barry Windham, he had the music, the walk, the look, the in ring skills, the genuinely convincing badass attitude, absolutely had it all
If he kept his pace of wrestling and correctly used into the attitude Era, he would be talked about a top 10 talent by the public vs just by the wrestlers
My number 1 favorite storyline from wrestling in the 80’s was Windham becoming a horseman and the night he finally turned. That version of the horsemen only lasted 3 months or so but was my favorite version. Hope he gets better soon.
That Horsemen version made the summer of 88 Hot in Crockett....really the last hurrah of the old days territory. That was probably the best version, just not enough time together.
One man saved Wyndham’s life. He stayed with him and performed CPR for over 20 minutes until EMS arrived … I thought air ports had defibrillators . I’ve performed CPR many times and to do 20 minutes is extremely difficult .
I really would've liked to see the late Brad Armstrong get a push in The NWA as its Junior Heavyweight Champ👍 He was a very solid in-ring worker with an extensive amateur background. He was over with the fans as a babyface, was a handsome guy, and had a good athletic physique. R.I.P. BA😇
Yes by far one of the top 10 matches in history. Barry was a natural talent and big guy. He'll his daddy black jack was about 300 some odd pounds and I think 6'6. The whole Windham and Rotunda family is and was fantastic in the ring. Including Bray and Bo Dallas. Bray is I believe one of if not the greatest creative mind to ever be in the wrestling business.
I think I have seen that match not sure, I have to search see if I can find it on UA-cam. I do remember they had a good really good match or maybe it was a couple of them around 1987. One specific I believe was at the Crockett Cup.
I remember back in the very early 80's CFW had an event in the Forest High School auditorium in Ocala, Fl. Barry had a match with Harly Race for the belt. Barry won the match, and they gave him the belt. The next week on TV Harly was still champ and there was not one word on that match. Always thought they screwed him over on that.
I heard Barry Windham is out of the hospital. If that's true, then good for him. I hope Barry's health improves immensely and doesn't get more fatal heartattacks like his late Hall of Fame dad, Blackjack Mulligan.
Yes amen.get him in touch with ddp..hek.once he's able I bet he could help him get and stay in shape.not saying his body shape had anything to do with his heart but it couldn't hurt and may start a good thing.mental physical....total redo...😁..best wishes Barry.
Man I remember being a kid watching him when he was young in wrestling from florida, super skinny,,before he filled out....b4 kendal came in and wooo wee kendal was the new raining and defending skinniest Wyndham brother,,,and never gave it up,,,lol,,man those were the good Ole days,,70s and 80s wrestling,Gorden Solie
Barry is in the top 5-10 most under rated wrestlers of all time. He was one of the first wrestlers I watched as kid and fell in love with I remember when he was the Yellow Dog in Florida Wrestling. I hope he recovers from is health issues.
I grew up in West Palm Beach going to CWF on Monday nights starting in 81 - 85. Barry was my favorite wrestler. I saw him wrestle Harley Race in early 84 when Harley was champ and they went 60 min. His tag team with Mike Rotundo were super over in FL.
No Barry Windham I miss this wrestler was the best. Like seriously that was a bad ass and he's so underrated it's not funny cause man Barry Windham man his matches were awesome
Would love to see the Kinkski vs Flair match, by 82 Kinkski was slowing down but could still go. If you watch some of his matches vs Thesz, he was a machine.
Windham was a freak in his prime, he told a story in his RF shoot how he wrestled a 70 min draw with Flair in Florida one night and then afterwards ran several miles down the highway as a bet on his way home.
My favorite challenger of all time for Ric Flairs title. Love watching Flair vs Windham matches. 2nd favorite challenge to Flairs title was Wahoo McDaniels. Windham will always be #1
barry was always one of my favs..i think his career could have should have been even bigger than was, and ive never considered him a horseman, he was with them for a moment just to use that rotating 4th guy angle with whoever horseman enemy was at time...!
No medical insurance or retirement for these wrestlers is completely wrong. Instead of Vince McMahon waiting millions on the XFL, he could have set something up for the wrestlers at least for medical insurance. But I heard they're independent contractors.
Cant always blame Vince for everything that's a bit unfair. I dont hear the Windham family cast blame on Vince. Barry has been in bad health for years unfortunately
Nobody is going to insure them. They aren’t just high risk. They are a guaranteed loss. Their monthly premiums would be insane. You can’t go into this industry expecting long term health care with our current health care system.
What does it say about an industry where some of the most revered talents in history are setting up GoFundMe pages for procedures? I know what I think about it and its not good.
Barry had the whole package, the only draw back was he did not take the business more seriously. I really think there was a part of him that did not like it.
Ric was my favorite wrestler ever , and it wasn't even close. However the more I learn about him as a person I'm continually disappointed. I'm going to go see him tonight , but doesn't even know where Barry is. Like the I was in Puerto Rico when Brody was murdered .
Ric FLAIR Barry windham and Ricky steamboat no doubt the three best performers in the history of WRESTLING you DAM well got your money's worth I would paid a 100 dollars a seat it would have been well worth it
Windham was an elite all time great worker.
*Though never a true-blue, legitimate main event guy.*
@@MattSingh1 In interviews he never had the drive or liked the travel of being world champion. Which is something Flair loved.

@@mikeabel7577 I have heard this in other shoot interviews. Flair was the guy that loved that lifestyle 24/7.

So True!
I concur
If he kept his pace of wrestling and correctly used into the attitude Era, he would be talked about a top 10 talent by the public vs just by the wrestlers
Facts bro!
Windham was a phenomenal wrestler and made a great Florida and Southern Heavyweight Champion.
Thank you Barry Windam for all the awesome memories in 1980’s..NWA is the best memories
One man saved Wyndham’s life. He stayed with him and performed CPR for over 20 minutes until EMS arrived … I thought air ports had defibrillators . I’ve performed CPR many times and to do 20 minutes is extremely difficult .
Barry Windham, Brad Armstrong and Kevin VonErich were all great wrestlers who didn’t get the notoriety or rememberence by current fans they deserve.
They got the shaft
I really would've liked to see the late Brad Armstrong get a push in The NWA as its Junior Heavyweight Champ👍 He was a very solid in-ring worker with an extensive amateur background. He was over with the fans as a babyface, was a handsome guy, and had a good athletic physique. R.I.P. BA😇
He definitely deserved a title run of sorts💯👌
Prayers for Barry . Great Talent
I remember watching Windham vs Flair go 90 minutes on Saturday TV
The 90 minutes matches between Ric Flair was legendary
I used to watch that Battle of the Belts tape over and over! Flair and Windham were phenomenal!!

Speaking of "Fight Forever".....I'd take Barry v Flair.

Randy Orton always reminded me of Barry Windham. How they wrestled so effortlessly in the ring.
I never thought about that but you are right. They are just naturals and talent that checked all the boxes.

Hi Ric I saw you and Barry at the old Boston Garden in April 1987
Barry is in the top 5-10 most under rated wrestlers of all time.
He was one of the first wrestlers I watched as kid and fell in love with
I remember when he was the Yellow Dog in Florida Wrestling.

Barry Windham was a wrestling great. Wish him a successful recovery.
Barry was a hell of a worker. Underrated. And not talked about enough 👋🤼♀️. Also him and rotundo were a great tag team

Ric and Greg Valentine were a great tag team. Wrestling in the 70s against the Anderson brothers was great.
Ric, the times when you tagged with Greg Valentine, the Dream Team in JCP, were some of my favorites.
No Barry Windham I miss this wrestler was the best. Like seriously that was a bad ass and he's so underrated it's not funny cause man Barry Windham man his matches were awesome
That's awesome that Flair shows compassion for his Horsemen buddies Steve McMichael and Barry Windham... 😎👍
Ric has known Barry since he was a teenager
Barry & Ric had some of the greatest wrestling matches ever in history from what I can personally recall scoping. Their battles were epic
Rick!! I'm Glad Your Better Now! Congrats!!!
In his prime, Barry Wyndham was a 6'6" Steve McQueen in the ring. He was strong, supremely athletic and he moved like a panther.
Ric really is a great guy.
Get better soon Barry!!!! Praying 🙏
He was the first athletic guy his size who could do anything in the ring
Ernie Ladd comes to mind, but no denying Windham was one of the best ever.
Barry Windham joined the 4 Horseman they got bad a--! He was really smooth the way he fit in.
The ladies couldn't get enough of Barry
If you work and pay your taxes you should never have to pay a single medical bill
Sent my Guardian Angel to watch over Barry.
You have to remember Windham is a 2nd generation wrestler
Thank you for letting us know. Still praying for him.
He was simply the best better than all the rest!!!!
Barry is out of ICU and at home recovering. The info comes from his niece Mika.
1.3 million dollars?!!! Medical costs are out of control in this country. No one should die because they can't afford to pay medical costs.
Some of the best matches i ever saw were Barry and Ric at Robarts area in Sarasota early 80s
Get well Barry praying for you

I like Ric's Bruce Lee shirt .
