Eric Bischoff is who ruined the 98 WCW match between Flair and Hart according to Ric. Bischoff pretty much wanted it to be a squash win for Bret Hart in less than 8 minutes. Which was one of the reasons why Flair stated that Eric Bischoff was more toxic to his career than Jim Heard.

Huge respect to Ric for commenting on this. Bret was pissed that he couldn't do a match beyond the scope of his formula (as he wrote in his book) and felt like he was sandbagging or sticking to a rigid routine. To know that Ric was hurting opens everything up. This guy is the GOAT in the eyes of millions and dozens of wrestlers and his stamina is legendary. It's a shame he wasn't 100% for those matches.
Hart vs Flair was still amazing (because both guys are phenomenal) but it could've been more. Bret is easily the GOAT in my eyes but things make a lot more sense after hearing Ric give his side.

In all honesty though, things changed in a big way when Bischoff did eventually fire Ole, Bockwinkle and Gagne after Bash at the Beach 94. Unfortunately, it was for the worst. That's when everyone found out that Eric was sponging ideas off of people like Greg Gagne and others. Unfortunately, it was already too late. Bischoff was in total control and those three were not there to be a part of creative anymore and bail him out of trouble when the Hulkamania/Macho Madness train derailed in 95.

Well, I aint much for day, especially in later years but he can still have an opinion even if he never has wrestled? It doesnt mean that you have to read his words as gospel?
And yes, a lot of times it seems like he just make stuff up, but he has always got a lot of news from the boys and people within the company. But I think they have fed him bullshit a lot of times.

Yeah I wonder why Vince didn't just go with Taker vs Flair instead of Bret. Then Taker vs Kamala at Survivor Series 92 in a coffin match ⚰️ for the title.
