I had the pleasure of meeting Page after a gig in Dublin, Ireland a few years ago. Spent several minutes having a conversation and signed my ticket, even posed for a photo before patting me on the head as I left. They say don't meet your heroes, but I'm glad I met mine.
The whole set was insane. All the hits off of Meantime and Betty. My buddy looked at me afterwards and said “Who would have thought Helmet was gonna steal the show at Aftershock?”
I've only seen these guys once in concert and the mix was absolute mud with buried vocals. As I watch videos of them, it seems to be a running theme. Doesn't any sound guy know how to mix their sound?
Where's Stanier? This sh!t is pretty lame. I saw HELMET in 1990 at Club Soda in Kalamazoo MI - before they got signed. Crazy as hell. Good to see Page Hamilton on stage again - but for Christ's sake hire some people who can play like they mean it.
That's Kyle Stevenson behind the kit. John left sometime after Helmets 4th album 'Aftertaste' due to differences in the band. Since then Page's had drummers come and go but Kyle's been with the band now longer than John was and any previous members. I feel you though a big component of Helmet was John laying into that kit like it owes him money. He hit those drums so hard I decided I had to do the same myself one day lol
@@DonnyBomb You can tell it's not John playing here, I can't really describe why, it's like John plays ever so slightly after the beat or something. I don't think he would be interested in coming back to Helmet either. There's an interview with him, which shows how much of a dude he is! ua-cam.com/video/BvNdHx4ARgI/v-deo.html
Fr and I the only one who thinks David’s bass tone is trash? Doesn’t fit the music at all but I still will always love helmet and will go to see them anytime they are in town
Security guy rocks

Wish I could meet him. First heavy album I ever got was Meantime…and it forever changed the path I follow. 🤘
Similar experience in Barcelona 2012 or so. Great guy.
This group is the FATHER of bands like Defones Korn Limp Bizkit.
Dude is in his 60's rockin' out!

He is just as good as he was in the beginning.
@@shaunstermonster I saw them open for Korn in 2022 and it was really awesome!
He legendary ! Legend then and legend today!
I love this band
Couldn't believe when I saw they were coming to NZ to tour in April, feeling the next day may be a sicky already haha
A few of us were saying, “Who would have thought Helmet was gonna steal the show at Aftershock this year???”
The God father and for that he gets 2 mics
Excellent.
❤️
🤘
I don’t think Page and the monitor guy were seeing eye to eye on the sound.
Roll on April!

I love Helmet since way back but sorry, this sounds and feels like a Helmet cover band or something. Not bad, but kinda lifeless
