Lacking melody?.... Did you even HEAR the chorus?.. Sleep fine at night and wake up to.. My early speechless morning.. Now i don't know about you, but that sounds pretty fucking good to me. Helmet is not for pussies, what you were looking for in the first place?
I love watching these vids. I got to see the new line-up in Auckland NZ 2011 and it blew my mind! I never thought that the show could rock so hard and get me jumping all over the place. As great as the 94 line-up is, the new line-up work their asses off! And real cool to be able to chat with all of them afterwards! Thanks Denco83! And thank you Helmet!!!
you handle the camera so well, i would of been jamming so hard the damn thing would fall out of my hand. Also thanks for posting my favorite song from Betty.
I never saw them perform this song live.....thanks so much for posting this! I saw them this same year, '94 in Portland Oregon with the Melvins. Helmet was my favorite band for years, this brings back so many great memories!!
How did you get such good audio of this gig? You're way too close to the stage to have been able to use the camera's mic right there, did you have a digital recorder somewhere in the back of the venue or something?
@Denco83 denco, they KILLED at warped in fitchburg mass. had to be 2005 or so. started out with maybe 30-40 ppl( i think red jumpsuit was playing the other end at the same time)had to be 25-30000 at the end! emptied all the other stages when they hit milquetoast for the 2nd song
Wow, you had access to the soundboard for this? No wonder it sounds incredible. I'm surprised you mixed that much of the on-camera mic into the sound though, with you having been as close as you were in these videos I'd have assumed none of the concert (asides from in-between stage banter) would be usable.
@stevegrierson not a genre thing, Helmet-at least for me-is/was a band of raw emotion with anger or disgust being at the core. For me it's the feeling I get from listening to it, not how melodic it is.
To me personally, it seems to speak to the experience of droning through the mundane parts of life where nothing is quite wrong but nothing Is quite exciting either so you aren't truly content with yourself or your circumstance. I'd hilight the lyrics "I'd blame someone but I've got you" (possibly meant to be internal monolouge?/ blaming yourself), "like every day that bores me..." "indecisive and ever dumb...", and "sleep fine at night and wake up to my early speechless morning". These lyrics alongside the instrumentation, steady but passionate and obsessive drums and the angsty but steady riffs until the big break, evoke the feeling of endlessly looping thoughts in your head or pacing the same walk over and over again. All this with an overarching sense of apathy (mainly evoked from vocal delivery). Anyways, I love this song and like helmet a good bit.
As good as that tour was, I think the UK tour was even better in the summer of 94. Kerbdog and Understand opened for Helmet. Kerbdog is easily the best band that folks in the U.S. have never heard of.Saw that lineup up 5 nights in a row, hung with J. Stanier(coolest mother f'er ever!) and got a guitar lesson from Paige on more than one occasion. Not only does their music completely kick ass, as people they all kicked ass as well!
Indecisive and deaf or dumb Tongue-dried in the sun Nervous speech and your mental health Drunk on every detail Loosened up from the moral slide as though There's nothing to hide It corresponds with your secret view and Never weighs upon you I'd blame someone but I've got you Like everyday that bores me Sleep fine at night and Wake up to my early speechless morning It works like crime, adjust your view Waste your time improving She's cut so well and lifelike too You'll bleed to death before me
I know this comment is 15 years old but that would actually make a lot of sense. I never noticed when I was younger but Frogstomp and Freak Show are glaringly influenced by Meantime and Betty...
@@Thrillhouse84yup they were probably their main influence, take a listen if you haven’t already to undecided off Frogstomp , it’s funny how similar the verse is to this song😭I still love Daniel and silverchair tho
@A4moondoggy ...He wanted a nice guitar, so he bought one... Is there really anything wrong with that? Kurt Cobain's guitars were expensive once Nirvana got big too. Hell he even had a custom guitar built for him by fender. If you can play nice guitars, why would you play shitty ones?
MY FUCKING CO-...kiddin'. Yeah, it must be a pain in the ass to cut out each song - an entire clip would be better. I saw that you shot a Helmet show from '91 as well. How was that one?
Is this a genre thing ? The music is totally lacking melody. I believe this guy can play and appears quite intelligent in interview but the music lacks any spark or accesibility. The best bit was the guitar solo. I am not trolling it is a serious question.
I’d blame someone but I’ve got you..
It warms the heart to see this version of Helmet (the REAL Helmet). Thank you....
same here .. introduced me to helmet's awesomeness
Fuck yes...my fav metal band EVER
my fav helmet song from my fav helmet album

fuck ... I've looked into my pants
Who is the hell gives this a thumbs down???
There are Nickelback and Shinedown and Five Finger Death Penis fans everywhere pretty bitter about Page's talent.
I will never thumbs down Helmet! Page has more talent in his pinky finger than all these new bands that are out..
Costarica69- never NEVER give Helmet a thumbs down 👍👍👍
Probably my favorite song off Betty, thanks a lot for uploading! Excellent performance by Page and co., and great video quality as well.
i love this song
Jim love you for giving us this upload of Helmet live in Colorado.
Best live helmet
Once again, thanks Denco83, I was at this concert when I was 20 years old. Thanks for bringing this rocking shit back to memory!
I come back to this vid every once in awhile🔥
Denco you rule! your taste in music is great.
More Helmet keep it coming.
One of the greatest shows ever! I saw them at Roseland in NYC.
I love watching these vids.

Just bought tickets for their Betty 30th anniversary tour 🙂

Feed this to today’s kids ! It’ll do em good ! Grow em a spine 👊💥🙂😉
The 90s...
I miss it so much.
Why has this got so few views?!!!!
Best track from the best album of the best metal band!
Beautiful!!
I wanna be buried in my Helmet t-shirt I bought in 97 at thier show in Norfolk!
Sir henry smiling!! 2:00
Saw that tour in Pittsburgh P.A. Awesome!!!
me too :D This is a great song :)
Sausage was the sideproject of Les (of Primus). Their only video is for the song Riddles Are Abound Tonight. Good shit.
Wow - yeah great audio... it's a good thing when you can get it off the board. Good thinking with the 635 mic.
That was great.
keep seeing your helmet captures, awesome work, i'd like to see you record some more metal in the denver scene!
It’s just one of those days…
AWESOME!!

amazing vid. thank you so much
Iv met this band

Page playing the green PRS that ended up with Daniel Jon's from Silverchair

man i love this song.. any idea what it means? relationship gone sour?
Helmet's songs are utterly meaningless

Was this the Rollins Band/Helmet/Sausage tour? I was at that with my best friend, Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg
Helmet, Sick of It All, Today Is The Day.
Sounds like an amazing show Today is the Day, fellow AmRep band at that time. I'd have loved to have seen that.
I think Daniel Johns of Silverchair has that Paul Reed Smith guitar now Page is playing there.

Is it really this guitar that he gave to Daniel Johns of Silverchair?
I'd BLAME someone but I've got you...
You need some therapy kid.
yeah seriously, he needs to get his hearing checked AND therapy. but therapy first and foremost.
MY FUCKING CO-...kiddin'.

Hey Jim Hucks - we get it - copyright fucking 1994 can you take that off now man? fuck
jockomofeenanay it doesn't take away from it. i'm glad it's dated. takes me back to better days :)
Ummmm, no
