I've been playing this track in bands for years now. Once you have the notes in your system, it's quite straightforward, but a physical challange to keep it upspeed during the complete song. Always happy with the breakdowns after chorus😄
You're not wrong. I looked it up yesterday and got the basic flow down in about half an hour but it is an absolute marathon to keep up throughout the song.
I've been playing this for quite a while now, wondering how to make it through the entire song, as my hand was aching after 2-3 min already. The secret is: No Streching. Thank you so much for that!
Thank you Mark, I’ve been playing this song for a while, tho occasionally stumbling over the second part, scrambling during the 1st walking line for the right pattern, but breaking it into 3, 3-4 note parts, makes it easier to remember. I don’t know if that made any sense... In better words...this lesson helped a lot. Cheers
Thank you, Mark. How does one decide in what positions to play bass lines? For example, the Ebm-Ab7 riff could also be played entirely in 1st position. Is there a rule of thumb that one should always favor thicker strings whenever possible?
These "breakdown" lessons are awesome, and to think -- this is the free material. Imagine how good the premium lessons are!
Nate Watts is an underrated bass player, total monster on tunes like ''Do I Do''
I totally agree. If you're playing bass for Stevie Wonder, You are a bad man.
I agree with your statement! Do I Do has become one of my favorite liness that Nate Watts has played, absolutely underrated!
I totally agree!

This is one of R&B's simplest yet funkiest basslines.
Mark thanks for all your tutorial videos. They’ve helped my bass playing so much. 🙂
Looking forward to it. Thanks again Mark.
Thank you for the Great Lesson Mate. Cheers...
Love Stevie's Bass Lines!
Always great lessons!!!👌🏻♥️
Did we ever get the bridge breakdown section of the song?
Great lesson with so many useful tips, thank youi!
“It’s kind of like Facebook, but for bass players.” So…“Bassbook”?
Lol

Sooooo, I'm so gonna learn this song!!!!
Great lesson Mark thank you
You are doing a great job of explaining the technical playing, I really need to hear you play the bassline slowly, quickly does not matter.

Thank you sir
Whew, I was really trying to do the stretch, but with less jump. And thanks for the staccato tips. Thanks for the lesson. Keep it up!!!

Nate Watts, what a legend!
Hey Mark! I would LOVE to see a lesson on how to play “The Lesson” by Victor Wooten!
What does that mean tune down a half step to D?
Wouldn't it be a whole step?
grazie 👍👍👍👍

This is also a good tune to learn in first position using only the first four frets on the bass ☝
That's the way I learned it also, much more fun to play in that position, taking advantage of open strings in the chromatic runs!
Hi Mark, Great lesson presentation as usual. Any chance of doing an analysis of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely"? Cheers and regards, Fred Jansohn
I'm in!
Thanks 👍🎸🎸
After that nice explanation of 16th note swing versus 8th note swing, no 16th notes ever came up 🙂
Great
I sweat at @2:35 he was about to play Smoke on the Water.

Please make a tutorial on sex in a pan, victor wooten
That's a pretty p-bass right there
Huh😢
Not bad, but there is too much confusing talks inbetween about skales etc. Just show how to play the song. Keep it simple.
That’s not what this channel is. You’ll probably prefer cover solutions channel for that. This is an educational channel.
