Thank goodness. All of the other videos I found were "how to play all the parts of 'I Wish'' on guitar. I just wanted to accompany the bass and keys, and this was perfect. Thank you.
@@ChrisHambly Hi. Yes. I have an audition with a band that likes to play funk next week. It's not a genre that I know much about and they sent me an audition set list. 'I Wish' was one of the tracks.
Great lesson and love the context of the explanation. I have the chords down but those succinct melody notes that are very audible with the vocals were getting me. Brilliant thanks. Groovy.
I’m laughing and smiling the whole time listening to this. Your love for the life as a musician shines through, and the instruction is crystal clear as well. I subscribed right away. I plan on looking for your performances if they’re on your tube. Thanks for doing this.
@@ChrisHambly Not right now; been in classic rock cover bands. Just an old insurance salesman who loves guitar and singing (open mics mostly), learning from UA-cam and posting clips of myself (alone in my garage : ) I thank you again for the joy you bring to it. Watched some more of it. Great.
Cheers Chris. I wish I could explain this to the guitarist in my band without bruising his ego! My mantra is Less is More, Stay in Time and Serve the Song. 😮😊
Great instruction on the chords and rhythm, like the way you broke down each part, playing the bass guitar part on guitar and the horns parts, that's exactly what I'm learning to do is play some other instruments parts on guitar, l want that to be for me a style of play etc like your advice on develop your style of play, not to just sound like someone else. Thank Much
echoing comments, awesome lesson, particularly like your suggestions/variations on some of the rhythm parts, and thanks for naming the chords.... subscribed !

I love his approach. I actually feel that the pursuit is more important than mastering the voicings
Ah that's a great thing to say, and I agree. Almost all players usually don't play the same parts the same way every time (the good ones).
Great job man, excellent lesson!

It can be a challenge bud, so many players don't get it. If you find those that do, hold onto them 👍

your voice is so nice
Appreciate that, thank you!
Thank you .. I thought it was my timing but it’s my short fingers .
😁
On the record, the fender bass is played on a keyboard. But your fairly close (not quite there). It's THE most infectious bass line in Christendom.
Cool. Like all my tutorials it's not about replicating the originals it's all about a representation for a live band situation. 👍
Mate. You are still missing the chorus! Anyway what you did was good.
So that's a vamp on the I and IV
Outstanding lesson. Much appreciated!
Thanks for dropping the great comment.!
