    Hey, Amazon has something called FBA, where third party sellers send inventory into Amazon’s warehouses and they distribute them under Amazon’s name. This is what probably what happened.

      Thanks John; that's crazy that Amazon would hold and distribute these things. You would think that would make them liable in some form for distribution. It's really crazy that there are so many returns/complaints over the past year and Amazon seemingly has done nothing to correct it.

      @@GeekTruth64 hey. 2 years late but as someone who has worked at as well as done amazon FBA, Amazon does "punish" bad products by making the products that have lower reviews less viewable... but I doubt you'll be able to get further than that.

    It was good to know about What We Do in the Shadows. I went looking for a copy, but since I had heard about this, before I bought it I had the seller send me more detailed pictures so I could make sure that it was a legitimate copy before purchasing.

    ANACONDA used from AMAZON. it was a multi format. The DVD was real. The BLURAY was a copy with no menu. 3rd party seller IMPORTCDS almost always sells boot legged copies...

    The Ron Howard movie, "The Paper," is another burn-on-demand disc. I watched it recently and it played just fine.

    I got a knockoff Tales from the Crypt box set from amazon today. Was from a private seller with a 99% positive rating and fulfilled from the Amazon warehouse. 10 of the 20 discs make grinding noises in the player and a special feature disc skips so bad it's unwatchable. They're sending me another one to try, so hopefully that one will have working versions of the 11 defective discs, otherwise it will be time for a full refund. I don't mind it being a bootleg since it's out of print now but it'd be nice if the discs actually worked.

    It's a Blu-ray, but it's a BD-R so it's burned not pressed.
    The color shows that it is inorganic, i.e. with a metal layer instead of a photo layer as with the lighter, more yellow, organic BD-Rs.
    Why it didn't start for you may be that it burned incorrectly or the ISO that the bootleggers probably pulled was faulty.
    This type of bootleg Blu-rays have been appearing more and more on Amazon lately and it seems they mostly come from some bootleg crap in Mexico

    Just received bootleg copies from Amazon of All Hallows’ ’ Eve and All Hallows’ Eve 2. Neither case had Blu-ray logo on front, discs were black on play side with break in color, and they would not play on my Blu-ray player. Returned today.

    What Blu ray disc are worth getting from Amazon for data back up

    I bought only one movie from Amazon, The Big Lebowski 4k + Bluray. I received it in a box with the logo kind of missprinted, but since that was my first and only 4k purchase I didn't know if that was usual. The quality of the cover print was kind of bad too, and had mistakes in the writing. The seal was broken in some places and looked like a reseal. Inside there was a bluray disc and a digital copy disc (which hasn't supposed to be there), and no 4k disc. It was bought from Amazon too. Now I'm seeing trilogies I like in 4k dirty cheap and don't know if I should trust them

    Hello, do the letters "TM" always have to be displayed above the word "Disc" when it shows the words "Blu-ray Disc" in the front of the case? Have you seen Blu-ray Disc Movies without the "TM" in the front of the case? Thanks

    Tuesdays and Thursdays sound good for you putting out videos. I've never come across bootlegs or burn on demand discs before, but I also don't order movies from Amazon very often. I tend to get my Blu-rays and DVDs from thrift stores, flea markets or just the regular store if it's a newer release. The upside to this is that I can buy them in bulk since they're cheaper that way.

    • @GeekTruth64
      @GeekTruth64  3 роки тому +1

      You’re doing it right. Picking them up at thrift stores or in person is definitely the best way to do it. I have a few local stores that sell used movies. I need to start going that route, at least with older titles. It’s always more fun to find random things in person anyway.

      @@GeekTruth64 I also end up finding movies at specialized volunteer run flea market like geek sales, which is how I managed to rebuild my VHS collection, and how I got the RoboCop trilogy DVD box set and things like that. I agree, you never know what you're going to find when you walk into a store or a flea market.

    I purchased Godzilla: destroy all monsters on DVD from amazon. It was a pal DVD stating it had English audio.
    When I play it and press english audio there's no audio at all! And the DVD disc is blue underneath. What a scam! 😡

    i just bought some anime on blu ray and the disc was black i never saw that. I mean i figured they would be fake since they was kind of cheap $40 vs $150.(it was fullmetal alchemist brotherhood). But when i put them in my bluray player they played fine and even acted like a real one menus and all and was in 1080p as well. So i guess they are just a very good bootleg

    Amazon customer service is NOT all robotic. I’ve talked to real people several times on amazon customer service phone line. You just have to wait until they put you on the line with a real person.

    • @GeekTruth64
      @GeekTruth64  3 роки тому

      True. I have talked to a real person before. I just meant the primary way Returns are handled are through the site. It takes extra steps to get someone on the phone. But either way, I’ve never had issues with returning anything before.

      GeekTruth64 oh ok. Also, I recently bought a Sony X800H 49 inch Smart TV from amazon a couple of months ago and it has the X1 4K HDR Processor inside of the tv and it helps to upscale DVDs and Blu-Rays to 4K resolution when watching the discs. I really recommend buying one because they’re not too expensive and they upscale your movie discs to 4K. This tv also has the best vivid color I’ve ever seen on any tv to date. I’ll leave a video link to this tv when I get a chance. 🙂

    Sad to say but bootlegs are currently saving the physical media space everything is digital now bootlegs are some of the only ways you’ll ever actually own these movies…

  • @djd0118
    @djd0118 3 роки тому +3

    Ok.. this isn't a bootleg. These are "burn on demand" disks. This happens with a lot of low volume classics. (Warner archives does this a lot as well as many other small releases) This is done via licensing deals. In fact "What we do in the shadows" only had a burn on demand release. (Shocked you never heard of this)

    • @GeekTruth64
      @GeekTruth64  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks. Yeah, I've never heard of it; at least not as part of licensing. I wonder why it lists special features on the blu-ray of What We Do In The Shadows on other copies, but you can clearly tell that it has been edited out on my copy. If the movie was only released on Burn on Demand, why list and then omit the Special Features. Seems strange. I think that Amazon should at the very least make it clear in their description that this is a burn on demand disc.
