I would love you to make other videos showing mixer mode. Your videos are great!
Thank you for saying so Melanie!
Bug fixes and practical features are nice. Resolve is the best! Apple just added tracking to Final Cut Pro but they took way too long.
Wow, jumped on that one quick. Good plan. The custom mixer I find is more akin to a layer mixer, but able to mix the RGB as well. Going to need to play with that some more. The color management checkbox to dumb down the color management choices, I think is to make it less confusing for new users. Not seeing an actual benefit in any other aspect of it. Big update for a software that doesn;'t jump to the next digit in versions. Makes you wonder what will happen when it jumps to version 18? I think BMD needs to give pre-releases to people like you to completely be ready for tutorials, like Sony does with their cameras to reviewers. Nice Job Dave.
I had the same thought the other day about Blackmagic. I think they're a wonderful company. And they have given me loaners to test after the product is released. But I wish they would give us a "heads up" ahead of time.
Regarding the project settings, I definitely agree.
And I had the same thought. If this is just an incremental update, I can only imagine what 18 will bring!!
please make a video tutorial on Halation and 3D key in color tab
Great tutorial on the new features. One question about the UA-cam chapter markers. Do they work only when you upload directly to UA-cam or can you export to your local storage and still have the markers stored in that file? If the latter is true then what output formats can save the marker data?
No, only if you upload directly. And one thing I learned after the fact is that you have to go back and activate monitization, and it doesn't include your default description if you created one.
Not a huge deal because in my case it was private at first, so I had to go in there to add tags and everything, but I'm glad you asked because I wanted to mention it.
I would be nice if they added a sidecar file that had those settings however
Thanks for this. Nicely done! I do have a request: I'd love to see how to take iPhone Dolby Vision HDR footage and import that into Davinci Color Managed space, and then what Color Management settings you'd use to grade that in HDR, and then what export settings you would use to keep all the Dolby Vision HDR attributes for proper playback on iPhone, etc. I have no idea how the Dolby Vision stuff works, and have not found it easy to find a tutorial on this elsewhere. I have to believe that many iPhone filmmakers would like to know this as well,
Right now, when I grade iPhone 13 Pro footage in Resolve for a Rec.709 export, I use the Input Color space of Rec.2020 Scene, instead of what Resolve assigns automatically which is HLG. I find this makes the starting point for the grade look more normal that the HLG setting.
Thanks!
Thank you for the video. Sub!
Thanks so much!
Anyone knows why I can't import a PNG sequence anymore in 17.4 version? it imports as separated frames..! Any solution?
In the media pool, click on the 3 dots, and choose the option that says sequence. (some other UA-camrs have made videos about this, if you search for the last month or so. I haven't made one myself)
Is 17.4 able to be downloaded free or is this only for those who pay? just wondering.
Well, there are two versions. There is a free version that has some, but not many, limitations (such as noise reduction), and then there is the paid studio version.
Having said that, as mentioned, the free version (non-studio) is very capable.
One bug fix they haven't done adapted the scaling for Windows 10 it only accepts 100% and 200% scaling not 150%.
