I love Septic Solutions
If I have an 18 inch diameter riser, do I use a 20 inch adapter base? Thank you.
Caution: wear protective gloves, clothes, eye wear; beware of the gases; cleanup is essential to reduce chance of infection or disease
This isn’t a safety video
Wouldn't it be prudent to pre-assemble some of the parts before inhaling all that methane?
This video is about the riser kit
Aren't there two openings in a typical septic tank? One for access for pumping and another for access to the filter? So do you need two risers total?
Yes
Loved my kit, but had my tank pumped and the guy broke almost all the screw holes on the riser section trying to reattach the lid. Called and complained and they said it was like that when they got there. Wish the attachment points were a little beefier (or septic pumpers weren't a-holes) needless to say that septic pump out company lost my business.
Is it necessary to keep the concrete tank lid inside the riser?
It is optional. Many times if you have a square lid it will not fit through the riser stack for removal which means you cannot keep it in place. The Polylok system is sealed so there is no real advantage in keeping the existing concrete lid in place.
parts list?
Don't drop that drill.
xD
Do you need to put the concrete cover back on when you do a riser like this. Some people are telling me to too but I don’t see the purpose.
It helps keep the gases in and dirt out as a secondary level of protection. Why not put it back on? It takes no effort.
Just had my tank pumped, the concrete lid was very difficult for them to remove. With the riser installed, there would be no room to lever it up.
Do we need to drill into the concrete or can we just use thick butyl tape?
I think the fumes and weather would ruin the tape, and drilling is scary. What about concrete outdoor adhesive, then covered with cement with binder around the riser outside to seal and secure it to the tank?
You don’t really have to anchor it but it’s highly recommended
is it required to drill and screw the bottom part to the tank or can the double sided tape hold it? im a little worried about drilling into my tank since its so old, I'm afraid I'll start a crack
That’s a reasonable concern. Mine is almost 20 years old. I’m going to scrub the concrete really clean, rinse and dry with a shop-vac, then use several tubes of Lexel sealant. That stuff sticks tenaciously to just about everything. My sump tank already has a plastic riser, but concrete is so uneven that the adapter ring is useless. I’m going to slip the new one over the old, level and secure it, then pour closed-cell polyurethane foam in the void between and around the outside. There’s no way it will ever budge or leak.
How did this work out? Facing the same problem. Just want to use the foam sealer.
@@barrydavidsonpicpp3330 It turned out the lid/openings to my tank are like 4 inches from the edges of the tank so I couldn't put one of these on anyway, there isn't enough surface around the openings to put one of these on
I had a septic contractor say that the thick tape (2 rings) was sufficient and that drilling and screwing into a 20+ year old septic could cause cracking. They use the sealant tape or lots of strong adhesive. I will be doing this myself very soon to my 24 year old septic and I’m NOT drilling into my old septic tank.
I installed one and drilled into my 45 year old tank with no problem . If your worried about drilling the top of your tank with a 1/4" masonry bit, your tank needs replacement.
Approximately how much does it cost for parts to install two risers? If done by owner, so just materials.
Depends on what diameter riser and how deep you need to go, but my 12” riser system about 10” deep cost me $200 online.
Yo, ...what's all that brown stuff right in the middle?
Chocolate
Has anyone purchased and self installed this kit successfully?
Yes
